A method of driving an information display device including displaying information of one frame by performing a scanning operation with respect to line electrodes on one substrate and column electrodes on another substrate, such that a voltage is applied to the line electrodes from one end to the other end. Then, a voltage for generating a cross-talk in the first color and a voltage for generating a cross-talk in the second color is applied to all cells one or more times respectively after the one frame is displayed. The information of the one frame is an image, and two or more lines of line electrodes are added at the end of the scanning operation, and a drive, in which a display of the first color and a display of the second color are performed one or more times respectively, is performed after the scanning operation is finished.

Method of driving information display device

In a method of driving an information display panel of a passive matrix driving type, in which display media are sealed in a space between two substrates, at least one substrate being transparent, and, in which an electrostatic field, which is generated from an electrode at scan side and an electrode at data side arranged respectively to the opposed substrates in an intersected manner, is applied to the display media so as to display information such as an image, at least two or more voltage values or an open state (including a connection state under a high-impedance state) are applied to at least one electrode. According to the invention, it is possible to obtain a method of driving an information display panel, which can reduce a cross-talk occurring voltage generated between the electrode at scan side and the electrode at data side and thus improve a display quality.

In an information display device according to the first to third inventions of the present invention, when a particle movement type information display device of passive matrix drive and dynamic drive is driven, the particle movement type information display device configured to be driven by using a drive circuit having an output stage equivalent circuit capable of outputting only two values of a predetermined drive voltage value and ground level (0V). Each embodiment relates to an image display device which comprises an image display panel, in which two or more groups of particles having different colors and different charge characteristics are sealed between two substrates, at least one of two substrates being transparent, and, in which the particles, to which an electrostatic field produced by a pair of electrodes provided on one or both substrates is applied, are made to fly and move so as to display an image. A height sensor comprises a pair of light-emitting elements disposed at positions spaced at different distances from a surface desired to be measured, the elements alternately emitting light rays, and a light-receiving element for receiving a light ray generated from each light-emitting element and reflected by the measured surface, the element producing a signal corresponding to the quantity of light received. The signal outputted from the light-receiving element is logarithmically converted by a logarithmic converter circuit. The output thereof thus has its direct current components removed by a filter. The value, covering from one peak to another peak, of the remaining alternating current components is equal to the value obtained by subtracting a logarithmically converted value of the signal outputted from the light-receiving element when causing one light-emitting element to give forth a light ray, from a logarithmically converted value of the signal outputted from the light-receiving element when causing the other light-emitting element to give forth a light ray.
