Cutting edge replacement type groove forming tool and end face groove forming method

This detachable insert type cutting tool is provided with a cutting insert and a holder which holds the cutting insert. An insert mounting seat on which the cutting insert is mounted and upper and lower jaw sections which pinch the cutting insert are provided in the holder. The insert mounting seat is provided between the lower surface of the upper jaw section and the upper surface of the lower jaw section. Convex curve outer surfaces are formed on one side of the upper and lower jaw sections when viewed from the leading end sides of the upper and lower jaw sections, and concave curve inner surfaces are formed on the other side of the upper and lower jaw sections. In a state where the cutting insert is fixed to the insert mounting seat, the concave curve inner surface of the upper jaw section is disposed at a position retreated further radially outward than an arc surface extending along the concave curve inner surface of the lower jaw section.

According to the head member (), a cutting insert () can be stably clamped by elastically deforming the jaw portion formed with the pressing surface straight with respect to the pedestal surface while operating a large clamping force.

Cutting tool with detachable insert, head member and tool body of the same

In a head member () for a cutting tool with detachable insert () including a head member body () formed with an insert attachment seat () to which a cutting insert () having cutting blades () is detachably attached, and constituting the cutting tool with detachable insert () by being mounted to a tip portion of a holder (), a side surface (A) of the head member body () is formed with a recess () which has a continuous inner wall surface therearound and a bottom surface connected to the inner wall surface over its whole periphery and which is recessed from the side surface (A) without passing though the head member body (). A cutting insert, wherein: a cutting edge part having a quadrangular shaped cutting face, which is provided with a pair of side cutting edges extending in a longitudinal direction of an insert body, and a front cutting edge between ends of the side cutting edges that extends in a direction that intersects the longitudinal direction, is formed at an end of the insert body having a bar-shape; and viewed from a direction facing the cutting face perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, at least one of a pair of corner edges where the side cutting edge and the front cutting edge intersect is formed in a convex shape such that it has a point of inflection at which, after a tangent line that makes contact with the corner edge rotates in a direction extending in the longitudinal direction along the corner edge from the front cutting edge, its direction of rotation changes, and it joins the side cutting edge.

Cutting insert and cutting method

The cutting tool for machining an inner surface of a hole is provided with a cutting tool main body extending in the shape of a shaft, a cutting edge portion mounted on a head portion of the cutting tool main body so as to radially-outwardly protrude with respect to the center axis of the cutting tool main body, and a coolant hole formed at the cutting tool main body so as to have an opening at a position apart from the cutting edge portion on a circumferential surface of the head portion of the cutting tool main body, thereby flushing out a coolant from the opening to an axially orthogonal plane orthogonal to the center axis and also along a protruding direction at which the cutting edge portion protrudes. The opening of the coolant hole faces a direction different from the protruding direction of the cutting edge portion in the radial direction with respect to the center axis.

Cutting tool for machining inner surface of hole, and method for cutting the same

The detachable insert-type cutting tool is provided with a holder, a head member which has an insert seat on which a cutting insert is detachably mounted and which is detachably attached to a head portion of the holder so that an attachment surface of the head member is closely in contact with an attachment surface of the holder, a coolant hole which is formed inside the holder so as to be opened on the attachment surface of the holder, and a first groove which is formed on the attachment surface of the head member, communicating with the coolant hole opened on the attachment surface of the holder and extending so as to be opened toward a cutting edge of the cutting insert mounted on the insert seat.

Detachable insert-type cutting tool

A clamping mechanism for a cutting insert that clamps the cutting insert in an insert mounting seat having a pair of contacting surfaces facing each other. Contacting surfaces of the insert mounting seat are provided with a pair of inclined planes inclined so as to be formed in a convex V-shape in the cross-section along the contacting direction, and the contact surfaces of the cutting insert are formed in a concave V-shape which has a pair of convex surfaces with roundness to be concave toward the inclined planes, and the pair of inclined planes and the pair of convex surfaces come in contact with each other at a pair of contacting positions, which have an interval therebetween in the width direction orthogonal to the contacting direction.

Clamping mechanism for cutting insert

An insert-indexable tool includes a holder and a head member having an insert mount seat by which an insert is to be held. The head member includes a first mount face and a second mount face that intersect each other from a view facing toward the cutting face in a state in which the insert is held by the insert mount seat. The holder includes a first receiving face abutting the first mount face and a second receiving face abutting the second mount face. The first receiving face and the second receiving face are respectively provided with a first fixing threaded hole and a second fixing threaded hole into which fixing screws are inserted into the first mount face and the second mount face. The first fixing threaded hole and the second fixing threaded hole are located so that the fixing screws do not intersect each other.

Insert-indexable tool

An insert-indexable tool includes a holder and a head member having an insert mount seat for clamping an insert. The head member includes a first jaw having a clamping face and a second jaw having a base face, the clamping face and the base face opposing each other to provide an insert mount seat. A clamping screw having a shaft portion and a pressing portion is disposed in a distal portion of the holder and is inclined with respect to an extending direction of the insert mount seat to extend gradually toward an inside of the holder. The holder is provided with a threaded hole engageable with the shaft portion of the clamping screw. The first jaw is provided with a spot facing accommodating the pressing portion of the clamping screw, and a center axis of the spot facing and an axis of threaded hole obliquely intersect each other.

A cutting insert having an insert body formed in a shaft-shape, wherein a cutting edge portion having a square rake face is formed on an end portion of the insert body, and wherein the rake face includes: a pair of side cutting edges extending in a longitudinal direction of the insert body; a front cutting edge extending in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction between each front end of the side cutting edges; a pair of protruded streaks extending toward each of corner portions at which each of the side cutting edges intersect the front cutting edge, and a projection which protrudes and is separated from the protruded streaks between front ends of the protruded streaks in the vicinity of the corner portion and the corner portion.

Cutting insert

There is disclosed a clamping mechanism for a cutting insert that clamps the cutting insert by inserting the cutting insert into an insert mounting seat. The insert mounting seat is formed in a tip of a holder having a pair of contacting surfaces facing each other, and the cutting insert has a pair of contact surfaces to come in contact with the pair of contacting surfaces, respectively. The tip of the holder is provided with a pair of jaws that is formed with the pair of contacting surfaces, respectively, and that can be elastically deformed relatively in a direction that the contacting surfaces contact the contact surfaces, and a clamping means that elastically deforms the pair of jaws to bring relatively the pair of contacting surfaces close to each other and to separate them relatively from each other.

Clamping mechanism for cutting insert, and cutting insert

First and second tips 4A and 4B are disposed on the outer periphery of the forward end of an end mill body 1 in a manner such that the tips 4A and 4B are displaced from each other about the periphery of the end mill body 1. The rotation loci of edges of the first and second tips 4A and 4B around the axis O of the end mill body 1 are mutually overlapped. The edge of the first tip 4A protrudes slightly farther toward the forward end of the end mill than the edge of the second tip 4B. Further, third tips 4C are disposed adjacent to the base end of the second tip 4B in such a manner that no gap is formed between the rotation locus of the edge of the third tip 4C located most adjacent to the forward end of the end mill body and the rotation locus of the rear end of the second tip 4B. As a consequence, the second tip 4B and the third tips 4C can be spirally disposed in the rearward rotating direction of the end mill as they extend toward the base end of the end mill. The respective tips 4, moreover, are formed of only one type having the same shape and dimensions. With this construction, the maintenance of tips can be remarkably simplified, and the wear of the tips, in particular, the wear of the first tip 4A, can be inhibited, thereby accomplishing a uniformity of the degree of the wear of the overall tips.

Reusable type end mill

A disposable tip clamp mechanism capable of simplifying the mounting operation of a disposable cutting tip to produce an improved effect for preventing the dislocation of the tip is described. A screw member 36 having a screw hole 36a in the head 36c thereof is connected with the mounting screw hole 33 of a tip mounting seat 32, with the head portion 36c projecting from the tip mounting seat 32 and a disposable tip 37 is seated on the tip mounting seat 32 such that the engaging portion 37f thereof engages the head portion 36c of the screw hole-containing screw member 36.
