A plastic card having a metallic luster and a relief pattern comprises a pair of metal-luster plastic sheets containing a metal-luster pigment, a colored plastic sheet provided between the metal-luster sheets, a printed ink layer provided on the outer surface of one of the metal-luster sheets, and transparent plastic sheets respectively laminated on the outer surfaces of the metal-luster sheets, a relief pattern of concavities and convexities of a shape corresponding to the printed ink layer being formed on the surface of the metal-luster sheet opposite that on which the printed ink layer is provided. A magnetic stripe may be further provided on an outer surface of the card.

Plastic relief card having metallic luster

A colored plastic sheet is interposed between a pair of metallic luster plastic sheets having metallic luster pigment dispersed therein and sandwiched between a pair of transparent plastic sheets to form a metallic luster plastic card. The metallic luster plastic card has good and homogeneous luster with the use of a relatively small amount of a metallic luster pigment without entailing an increase of the total thickness of the card and also has a high optical transmission density which is required for positional recognition of the card.

A magnetic card comprises (1) a planar substrate having at least a surface layer of a thermoplastic resin, (2) a magnetic layer disposed at at least one part of a surface of the planar substrate, (3) a color layer disposed on the magnetic layer, and (4) a pattern layer disposed on the color layer. In this magnetic card, the color of the magnetic layer which does not contribute to an attractive appearance is hidden under the color layer, and, because the pattern layer is disposed on the color layer, the pattern is not restricted by the color of the magnetic layer and appears clear due to the presence of the color layer. Accordingly, this magnetic card can be produced with an improved appearance from the viewpoint of design.
