An induction machine includes: a stator having a stator core and a coil; a rotor, which has a shaft, a rotor core secured to the shaft, and a secondary conductor; a bearing supporting the shaft; a cooling fan having a blade; and a cooling fan fixture. The secondary conductor includes a rotor bar and an end ring. The blade is located axially outward of the end ring, and the distal end of the blade in the axial direction extends axially outward of the coil end of the coil. The cooling fan has a securing portion located radially inward of the end ring and a cylindrical extended portion extending from the securing portion to the blade. The securing portion is secured to the rotor with the cooling fan fixture. The bearing is located axially inward of the distal end of the blade.

Induction machine

A stator of a rotary electric machine includes a stator core and polyphase coils. The stator core has a plurality of slots. The polyphase coils are provided in the slots. Each phase of the polyphase coils has a plurality of coils formed for each pole and connected in parallel. When winding in which a coil pitch is equal to number of slots divided by number of poles is termed full-pitch winding, when winding in which a coil pitch is larger than the coil pitch of the full-pitch winding is termed long-pitch winding, and when winding in which a coil pitch is smaller than the coil pitch of the full-pitch winding is termed short-pitch winding, at least two of the coils of each phase are formed on the stator core by wave winding to alternate between the long-pitch winding and the short-pitch winding along a circumferential direction of the stator core.

Stator of rotary electric machine

A rotary electric machine includes a rotor core, a stator, a field yoke, and a field winding. The rotor core is fixed to a rotary shaft, which includes a magnetic body for forming a magnetic path, and magnetic salient poles. The stator has teeth and a stator winding wound around the teeth by concentrated winding. A slot is formed between adjacent ones of the teeth in a circumferential direction. The field yoke magnetically connects the stator and the magnetic body. The field winding is located in proximity to at least one of the winding ends of the stator winding in an axial direction of the rotary shaft. The field winding generates a magnetic pole on the magnetic salient poles when energized.

Rotary electric machine

A stator has multi-phase stator coils that are wound around a stator core by concentrated winding. A rotor has rotor coils that are wound at multiple portions of a rotor core in the circumferential direction and diodes that serve as rectifier unit that is connected to the rotor coils and that varies the magnetic characteristics of the respective rotor coils alternately in the circumferential direction. A rotary electric machine driving system includes a decreasing/increasing pulse superimposing unit that superimposes decreasing pulse current for a pulse-shaped decrease on a q-axis current command for passing currents through the stator coils and that superimposes increasing pulse current for a pulse-shaped increase on a d-axis current command.

Rotary electric machine driving system

A plurality of salient poles projecting toward a stator are arranged on a rotor core along the circumferential direction while being spaced apart from each other, and rotor windings are wound around these salient poles. The rotor windings are short-circuited through diodes, respectively; and when currents rectified by the diodes flow through the rotor windings, the salient poles are magnetized to produce a magnet where the magnetic pole is fixed. The width &#x3b8; of each salient pole in the circumferential direction is smaller than a width corresponding to an electric angle of 180&#xb0; of the rotor, and the rotor windings are wound around each salient pole by short-pitch winding.

Rotary electric machine and driving controller for rotary electric machine

A rotary electric machine system includes: a stator that has multi-phase stator coils and that generates stator magnetomotive forces based on respective stator currents having different phases supplied to the multi-phase stator coils; a rotor on which rotor coils are wound such that magnetic poles are formed by rotor currents generated in response to the stator magnetomotive forces generated by the stator; a regulating unit that regulates a flow direction of each of the rotor currents to one direction to thereby regulate a polarity of each of the magnetic poles; and a control unit that controls currents supplied to the stator coils on the basis of a target torque. The control unit superimposes a pulse on the stator currents to adjust the ratio of each of the stator currents and each of the rotor currents so as to minimize a copper loss in the stator and the rotor.

Rotary electric machine system

A rotating electrical machine system includes a stator that has stator windings of a plurality of phases, and that generates a stator magnetomotive force in accordance with stator current of different phases, which is supplied to the stator windings of the plurality of phases; a rotor on which rotor windings are wound such that rotor current is generated in accordance with the stator magnetomotive force generated by the stator and a magnetic pole is formed by the rotor current; and a control unit that controls an output torque from the rotor, by controlling the stator current. In a case where a predetermined torque is output from the rotor, the control unit applies a pulse to the stator current so as to increase the stator current and reduce the rotor current, when a temperature of the rotor is high as compared with when the temperature of the rotor is low.

Rotating electrical machine system

In a rotating electrical machine, when a stator winding is wound in concentrated winding, an improvement in performance is achieved by reducing a magnetomotive force harmonic without reducing a fundamental wave magnetic flux generated by a stator. A rotating electrical machine () includes a rotor (), and two stators () opposed with the rotor () being interposed therebetween either on both sides of the rotor () in the axial direction or on both sides of the rotor () in the radial direction. Synchronous motors and control circuits therefor

A reluctance motor is described in which stator coils are driven with sinusoidal, or substantially sinusoidal, waveforms. Preferably, the spread angle of the stator poles is less that the spread angle of the rotor poles. More preferably, the spread angles of the stator poles &thgr;S and the rotor poles &thgr;r are set such that &thgr;S is approximately equal to 2&pgr;/(m&middot;Nr) and &thgr;r is about (&thgr;S&plus;&pgr;/Nr)/2&lE;&thgr;r&lE;(&pgr;/Nr), respectively, wherein Nr is the number rotor poles and m is the number of phases of electric current. By supplying a sinusoidal, or substantially sinusoidal-like, driving waveform to the stator coils, torque becomes relatively constant and does not depend on the angular position of rotation of the rotor. Therefore, torque ripple is effectively decreased.

Reluctance motors

A feeder is disposed along a guide rail that guides an electrically powered vehicle. The electrically powered vehicle has an electric power receiving unit that accommodates the feeder. Electric power is supplied from the feeder to the electrically powered vehicle through the electric power receiving unit on a non-contact basis. The distance between the guide rail and the feeder in a straight portion of the guide rail is different from the distance between the guide rail and the feeder in a curved portion of the guide rail.

Non-contact type electric power supplying system for vehicle

A system for supplying electric power to an electrically powered vehicle includes a feeder disposed along a structural member as a guide rail that guides the vehicle. The vehicle has an electric power receiving unit that receives electric power from the feeder on a non-contact basis. The electric power receiving unit has a ferrite core with a coil. A ferrite sheet is disposed on a surface of the structural member in such a manner that the ferrite sheet is opposite to the electric power receiving unit. The feeder is surrounded by the ferrite core and the ferrite sheet. When an AC current is supplied to the feeder, a magnetic flux that penetrates the ferrite core and the ferrite sheet varies, thereby causing electromotive force to occur in the coil.

An inductive coupler for use in a battery charging system for an electric vehicle has a primary device having a primary coil and a core and a secondary device having a secondary coil and core. The primary and secondary devices are coupleable together with the primary coil placed within an open space defined by the secondary coil. The secondary coil is formed and sized so as to have a greater dimension than the primary coil as measured in the longitudinal direction of an electric vehicle parked for battery charging so that a space interval between the two coils in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle is greater than that in the lateral direction of the vehicle.

Inductive coupler for electric vehicle charger

An apparatus for charging a battery of an electrically powered vehicle located at a charging station is provided. The apparatus comprises a pair of separate primary cores each of which has a primary coil and is disposed in a wheel stop block secured at the battery charging station, and a secondary coil which is carried by the vehicle. The apparatus further includes a first drive mechanism for retractably lowering the secondary coil linearly to its operative positions, and a second drive mechanism for retractably moving the primary cores inwardly toward each other linearly to their operative position where a closed magnetic circuit is formed thereby and the primary coil is inductively coupled with the secondary coil which is then placed in its operative position. Each primary core has a projection which is engageable with a counterpart of the other core, and the engaged projections of the cores are arranged to pass through an opening of a secondary coil case round which opening the secondary coil is wound.

Apparatus for charging a propulsion battery of an electrically powered

Method and apparatus of charging a battery of an electric vehicle through inductive coupling between a primary inductive device having a core and a primary coil connected to a power source and a secondary inductive device having a core and a secondary coil connected to the battery are disclosed. The primary inductive device is provided on a movable arm of a ground charger unit and the secondary inductive device is mounted on the bottom of the vehicle adjacent its rear end. The power source supplies to the primary coil selectively a charging current and a check current. When the check current is supplied to the primary coil, an electromotive force is induced in the secondary coil which varies with a change of the relative position between the primary and secondary inductive devices. The variation in the induced electromotive force causes a change of the check current flowing in the primary coil. The position where the primary inductive device should be placed with respect to the secondary inductive device just before coupling thereof is determined on the basis of the change of the check current which is monitored while moving the primary inductive device relative to the secondary inductive device.
