A speaker apparatus includes a speaker unit, a passive radiator unit, and a front baffle on which the speaker unit and the passive radiator unit are mounted to form a portion of a speaker box and a back plate. A closed front chamber is formed by the front baffle for coupling the sound output generated from the back of the speaker unit with the passive radiator unit. A closed rear chamber is formed by the front baffle and the back plate for confining sound output generated from the front of the speaker unit. The speaker unit is disposed in a direction opposite to the direction of passive radiator unit, or in a direction approximately opposite.

Speaker apparatus and sound reproduction apparatus

A sensed-pressure-data converter having a circuit for reducing a fluctuation of the output due to a fluctuation of a resistance and a resistance changing characteristic of a pressure sensitive resistance element and for reducing the output offset and offset drift of the pressure sensitive resistance element. The converter of the invention comprises a pressure sensitive resistance element ( ), and a controller ( ). The controller is an electric circuit connected to the pressure sensitive resistance element for detecting the electric characteristic of the element and includes A/D converters ( ), a D/A converter ( ), and a memory ( ). The controller compensates the electric characteristic due to a resistance change of the pressure sensitive resistance element and issues it from the D/A converter ( ). The sensed-pressure-data converter further comprises a temperature sensor connected to the input terminal of the A/D converter in the controller, an adjustment input terminal ( ) for inputting an error between the electric characteristic of the pressure sensitive resistance element and a reference electric characteristic into the input terminal of the A/D converter in the controller, which reduces the output offset and offset drift of the pressure sensitive resistance element.

Sensed-pressure-data converter

The present invention aims at providing a rotation angle detector capable of detecting and storing information for a direction and an angle of rotation of steering wheel while maintaining a condition of reduced power consumption from a battery, when an engine is not running. In achieving the object, the invention discloses a structure, wherein the detector keeps a control means ( ) including a memory unit ( ) in a memory back-up mode when an ignition switch ( ), i.e. a main switch, is turned off, switches a power supply for sensor elements ( ), ( ) and ( ) into a mode of low consumption of current, which is smaller than that of the normal current by a control signal of the control means ( ), and allows the control means ( ) to activate the sensor elements ( ), ( ) and ( ) operative in the normal mode after a confirmation of an output signal from at least one of the sensor elements ( ) and ( ) when the steering wheel is moved, and thereby the detector is capable of detecting the direction and the angle of rotation out of the information for rotation of the steering wheel.

In the invented speaker system, a passive radiator 401 is mounted on a top board 403a of baffle 403 in a direction opposite to a speaker unit 402. The speaker unit 402 is mounted on the opening of a cylinder 403b protruding from top board 403a at a place inner from the end. The remaining part of the opening is closed with a sub-baffle 406, to form a front closed cavity 404 and a back closed cavity 405. In this way, both the passive radiator 401 and the speaker unit 402 are fixed to the top board 403a whose rigidity being the highest; which reduces the unwanted vibration.

Loudspeaker system and sound reproducing apparatus

A cruise control system for maintaining the speed of a vehicle at a fixed, set speed, comprising an actuator including an electric motor which actuates a speed control member via an electromagnetic clutch. To ensure the capability of the cruise control system to decelerate the vehicle even when it is traveling a steep and long downhill, and the normal operation of the cruise control system becomes inadequate for curbing the excessive increase of the vehicle speed, the electromagnetic clutch is disengaged whereby the speed control member is returned to the position for maximum deceleration. Since the operation of the cruise control system is not canceled even when the vehicle speed is increased substantially beyond the set speed, the cruise control system can readily return to its normal operation even after the vehicle is accelerated from the state of cruise control by stepping on the accelerator pedal, for instance for passing another car. To avoid frequent activation of the electromagnetic clutch, there may be defined an intermediate speed range in which a boosted deceleration signal is supplied to the electric motor for a deceleration action which is more boosted than a normal deceleration signal.

Cruise control system

A collision detection system for a vehicle comprising an acceleration sensor for sensing the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle wherein the acceleration sensor is a piezoelectric sensor; signal processing circuit coupled to the piezoelectric sensor for generating a first output when the vehicle deceleration is greater than a predetermined amount. A diagnostic pulse generator is coupled to the piezoelectric sensor for applying a diagnostic pulse to the piezoelectric sensor for distorting the piezoelectric sensor, thereby causing the piezoelectric sensor to generate an electrical output. The electrical output is applied to the signal processing circuit wherein the signal processing circuit produces a second output in response thereto. The piezoelectric sensor is mounted on a pendulum such that when the vehicle accelerates or decelerates, the pendulum moves relative to the vehicle thereby distorting the piezoelectric sensor whereby the piezoelectric sensor produces an output as a function of the distortion. The piezoelectric sensor includes an electrode which is divided into a plurality of electrode segments. At least one of the electrode segments is an output electrode for providing an electrical signal as a function of the distortion of the piezoelectric sensor and at least one of the electrode segments is an input electrode for receiving an electrical signal and distorting the piezoelectric sensor in response thereto.

Collision detection system for a vehicle

A vehicle cruise control system, comprising a control circuit for producing a control signal for maintaining a speed of a vehicle at a fixed level according to a difference between an actual vehicle speed and a target vehicle speed, and a drive circuit for producing a drive signal for selectively driving an actuator in a direction either to accelerate the vehicle or to decelerate the vehicle according to the control signal from the control circuit. The drive circuit is provided with a transistor bridge circuit comprising four drive transistors for producing the drive signal. The control circuit is provided with a detection means for detecting an abnormal state of the system and an inhibiting means which brings at least one of the drive transistors into an non-conductive state when any abnormal state is detected by the detecting means. The control circuit may be programmed to perform a certain diagnostic procedure for testing the soundness of the drive transistors. Thus, erratic behavior of the cruise control system and destruction of the drive transistors can be effectively prevented.

Vehicle cruise control system

A speaker box for housing a radio speaker unit and intended for mounting within a vehicle door is formed of plastic by a monobloc molding method such as blow molding thus providing a seamless speaker box that is free from air leakage. The speaker box has an irregular configuration matching a space within the vehicle door, whereby it can be firmly secured in place maintaining maximum inner volume. The speaker box further has ribs extending across flat regions on the box thus improving its rigidity against vibration caused by sound pressure and the like.

A vehicle cruise control system having an electric actuator for acting upon a throttle valve of a vehicle, a clutch for disconnecting the actuator from the throttle valve, a spring or the like for returning the output end of the clutch to a neutral state and a limit switch for detecting the limit of the motion of the output end of the clutch and discontinuing the supply of electric current to the actuator upon detection of the limit. Since the detection of the lower limit of the stroke of the actuator for decelerating the vehicle is necessary for preventing unnecessary supply of electric current to the actuator and overloading of the actuator, the closed state of the limit switch is tested by supplying an electric current to the actuator so as to decelerate the vehicle prior to starting the normal operation of the vehicle cruise control and determining if the electric current is indeed conducted through the actuator or not.

A vehicular anti-theft system which combines a mechanical key and an electronic key involving a code light signal. A light emitting element is provided in a casing attached to a base end of the shank of the mechanical key while a light receiving element is provided adjacent to an open end of the key hole so that the conventional action of fitting the key shank into the key hole causes the transmission of a code light signal between these elements. Advantageously, the light emitting element can be additionally equipped with the function of locking and unlocking a vehicle door so that the user can obtain the benefits of both a remote control entry system and a highly effective anti-theft engine start system.

Vehicular anti-theft system

A Karman vortex flowmeter has a column inserted in the fluid passage to produce a Karman vortex street corresponding to the velocity of a fluid and for measuring the flow rate of the fluid by making use of the variations in the pressure caused by the production of the Karman vortex street. A metal sheet member consists of a magnetic substance and includes a vibrating plate portion that is divided into two portions. Pressure transfer means in the column transmit the variations in the pressure to the vibrating plate portion for causing vibration at a rate related to the fluid flow rate. Two magnets are disposed to magnetize the two portions of the vibrating plate portion to different polarities, according to the direction of the vibration of the vibrating plate portion as caused by the variations in the pressure and a detecting means detects the inversion of the direction of the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit formed by magnetization of the metal sheet member to find the flow rate of the fluid, the inversion being caused by the inversion of the direction of vibration of the vibrating plate portion.

Karman vortex flowmeter

A light control apparatus for a vehicle is integrated with headlamp driving relays, a light sensor, a lighting switch which selects a manual mode or an automatic mode, and a control unit which controls the relays in accordance with the light sensor output when the lighting switch selects the automatic mode and turns on or off the headlamps. Two power source systems and two headlamp driving systems are provided. The signal level of a given terminal of the control unit is detected and is input to the microcomputer of the control unit. The microcomputer judges whether or not trouble has occurred by detecting a level difference. An alarm indication is given by a lamp or a buzzer if trouble is detected.

Light control apparatus for a vehicle

A suction gas heater control device for an engine comprising first detector for detecting when the engine is brought into complete firing, and for providing a signal in response thereto; a first timer coupled to the output of the first detector for continuously providing a first operating signal for a predetermined period of time after a first period of time, the first period of time starting with the beginning of the inputting of a signal from the first detector and ending with the stopping of the signal from the first detector; a second detector for detecting engine temperature and for providing a second operating signal when the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined level; and a judgement circuit means coupled to the first timer and the second detector for providing a signal for operating a suction gas heater, when the first operating signal is applied thereto and when the second operating signal which indicates that at least one of the temperature of the engine is lower than a predetermined level.

Suction gas heater control device for engines

There is disclosed herein a generator control system for use in a power supply system for vehicles in which a battery and an engine-driven generator are connected in parallel with a load. The total load current fed to the load is detected and the generated voltage level is changed by performing field regulation for the generator in accordance with the detected value. Switching of the generated voltage level of the generator is controlled according to the state of the load applied so as to improve power generation efficiency. Certain parameters, such as battery state, engine speed, auto choke and load state, can be provided as an input or inputs to a voltage regulator for the generator.

Control system for engine-driven generator

An operational condition control device for an internal combustion engine is provided which operates an alarm device when the engine temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature. The operational condition control device comprises a vehicle stop sensor for detecting a stopped condition of the vehicle, a temperature sensor for detecting the engine temperature, and a drive circuit for receiving signals from the sensors and operating the alarm device when the vehicle is in the stopped condition, and the engine temperature exceeds the predetermined temperature. In another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an operational condition control device for an internal combustion engine which operates a fuel cut device when the engine temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature and the vehicle is stopped to thereby stop the engine. In still a further aspect of the present invention there is provided an operational conditional control device for an internal combustion engine which operates an alarm device and a fuel cut device when the engine temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature and the vehicle is stopped.
