A hybrid inflator which is made more compact and lighter is provided. An excessive internal pressure increase at a time of activation is prevented by setting a molar ratio (A/B) between a pressurized medium (A moles) charged in a housing and an amount of a gas (B moles) generated due to combustion of a gas generating agent to 8/2 to 1/9.

A gas-generant-molded-article for air bags which is prepared by molding a gas generant composition into a cylindrical form containing an opening hole, wherein the relationship between the linear burning velocity r (mm/second) of said gas generant composition under a pressure of 70 kgf/cm and a thickness W (mm) of said molded article falls within a range represented by 0.005&lE;W/(2&middot;r)&lE;0.3, with the linear burning velocity preferably falling within a range of from 1 to 12.5 mm/second.

The present invention is directed to an airbag system that includes a gas generant, which is improved in the defects of gas generants using sodium azide in a practical use and has stable combustion capability. A molecular compound comprising (a) a gas generant component, (b) an oxidant component and (c) a reaction accelerator component, preferably represented by the composition formula (I).
