A refrigerant evaporator has an interchange part. The interchange part connects a first collecting part of a second downstream tank part, and a second distribution part of a second upstream tank part. The interchange part connects a second collecting part of a second downstream tank part, and a first distribution part of a second upstream tank part. The interchange part swaps a refrigerant about a width direction of a core. Refrigerant passages relevant to the interchange part are configured to improve refrigerant distribution. Providing a plurality of passages and/or twisting a passage improve distribution.

Refrigerant evaporator

A refrigerant evaporator includes a first evaporation unit and a second evaporation unit disposed in series in a flow direction of fluid to be cooled by evaporating refrigerant. An intermediate tank portion through which refrigerant flows is connected to an outer surface of one tank portion of the first evaporation unit and an outer surface of one tank portion of the second evaporation unit. A tank external refrigerant space through which refrigerant flows is defined by an outer wall of the one tank portion of the first evaporation unit, an outer wall of the one tank portion of the second evaporation unit, and an outer wall of the intermediate tank portion.

Refrigerant evaporator having a tank external refrigerant space

Provided in an interior of a leeward tank unit of a leeward evaporation portion is a refrigerant flow changing portion that guides a refrigerant from a first refrigerant collecting portion to a second refrigerant distributing portion and guides a refrigerant from a second refrigerant collecting portion to a first refrigerant distributing portion. The refrigerant flow changing portion is configured such that a refrigerant flow guided from the first refrigerant collecting portion to the second refrigerant distributing portion and a refrigerant flow guided from the second refrigerant collecting portion to the first refrigerant distributing portion are in a non-crossed state when viewed from a longitudinal direction of tubes.

A refrigerant evaporator includes four core portions. A part of the refrigerant passes through a first core portion and a fourth core portion. The other part of the refrigerant passes through a second core portion and a third core portion. An exchanging unit exchanges the positions where the refrigerant flows. A passage through which the second core portion communicates with the third core portion includes a throttle passage in the intermediate tank unit. The throttle passage and the end portion of the intermediate tank unit reverse the refrigerant flow toward a partitioning member. Since the distribution of a liquid-phase refrigerant is adjusted by the throttle passage, a concentration of the liquid-phase refrigerant on a position in the vicinity of an outlet of the third core portion is suppressed. Accordingly, the concentration of the liquid-phase refrigerant in the core portions located downstream of the refrigerant flow is suppressed.

A heat exchanger includes a first tube in which water flows and a second tube in which refrigerant flows, and performs heat exchange between water and refrigerant. The first tube and the second tube are bonded to each other by brazing at joint surfaces thereof such that water flow crosses refrigerant flow perpendicularly. The joint surface of the first tube is divided into several surface regions by grooves. Accordingly, the joint surface of the first tube can be brazed to the joint surface of the second tube uniformly.

Heat exchanger and method for manufacturing the same

A heat exchanger includes first and second header tanks and a plurality of flat tubes disposed therebetween. Each of the first and second header tanks is formed by connecting first and second groove members. The first groove member includes a main wall portion and a side wall portion to have a U-shaped cross-section. A plurality of tube-insertion holes are provided in the first groove member, and the tube-insertion holes extend from the main wall portion until an intermediate position of the side wall portion. The flat tubes are attached to the first and second header tanks by inserting both ends of each flat tube into the tube-insertion holes until the intermediate position. Further, a width of the first groove member in a width direction is set to be equal to each width of the flat tubes. As a result, the sizes of the first and second header tanks are reduced relative to the flat tubes, and the heat exchanger has downsized header tanks.

A second header pipe forming a second header of a refrigerant condenser and a receiver are joined by brazing. In a portion where the second header pipe and receiver are communicated, four ribs provided at a perimeter of a communication hole of the second header pipe are inserted within a communication hole of the receiver, and thereafter ribs are bent in an outer direction of the hole, and the second header and the receiver are provisionally joined at the communication-hole portion prior to brazing. Additionally, after a projection provided on an upper-side cap of the receiver has been inserted into an insertion hole provided in the second header pipe, an end portion thereof is widened outwardly, and the second header pipe and receiver are provisionally joined prior to brazing. In this way, both ends of the receiver are provisionally joined to the second header pipe prior to brazing, and so the second header and the receiver do not slip during brazing.

Refrigerant condenser with integral receiver

A square shaped upper side level difference and a squarely annular lower side level difference part are provided on a reverse arc shaped recess part formed in the modulator, and a second through hole is provided so as to bore through the lower side level difference part. By this arrangement, in brazing the modulator to an arc shaped projection part formed on the right side header, heated and melted brazing material can intensively flow into the surface contacting part between the surface of the upper side level difference part and the surface of the projection part and between the surface of the lower side level difference part and the surface of the projection part. As a result, the right side header and the modulator can exactly be brazed and therefore there is no possibility of the occurrence of defective brazing around the second through hole.

Refrigerant condenser

A receiver is joined integrally to a header or a condenser at the flat portions formed at joined surfaces thereof. A flat portion is formed by pressing on a portion (central portion) of a tank plate of a header which has a longer vertical length than a receiver. A rib is formed to extend in the lengthwise direction of the flat portion, and excess material at the time of pressing is absorbed by forming the rib, so that wrinkling does not occur.

The module integrated type refrigerant condenser includes a roughly cylindrical right side header connected to the outlets of a plurality of condensing tubes and the inlets of a plurality of supercooling tubes, and a modulator directly connected to the right side header in the width direction of the core. By providing a partition part for dividing the second inner space into two gas-liquid separation chambers, the modulator is formed into a shape as if two roughly cylindrical pipe bodies were stacked up in the thickness direction of the core, and the width thereof is made shorter in comparison with a simple, cylindrical modulator.

Modulator integrated type refrigerant condenser

A communication chamber communicated with the downstream end of a condensing part is provided within a header. A gas-liquid separation chamber is provided beside the communication chamber for separating the refrigerant into gas and liquid phases. The height of this gas-liquid separation chamber is set to be smaller than that of the communication chamber to prevent the interference of the gas-liquid separation chamber with peripheral devices of a vehicle to facilitate the installation of the condenser. Further, a refrigerant introducing means is provided at a portion corresponding to a liquid refrigerant pool part at the lower part of the gas-liquid separation chamber within the partition part for introducing the refrigerant within the communication chamber into the liquid refrigerant within the gas-liquid separation chamber.

Receiver-integrated refrigerant condenser

A tube has a plurality of coolant passages inside which are separated by inner struts at center into an inlet passage side and an outlet passage side in the longitudinal direction of a core. On one end side of the tube inserted in a header are formed an inlet port and an outlet port through the tube in the direction of core lamination on either of the inlet passage side and the outlet passage side. Inside the header is disposed a separator, with the tube in an inserted state, in a position for separation between the inlet port and the outlet port of each tube. Since the header interior is divided to the front and rear sides of the core, there are formed, in the header, an inlet chamber communicating with a coolant passage on the inlet passage side through an inlet port, and an outlet chamber communicating with a coolant passage on the outlet passage on the outlet side through the outlet port.

Heat exchanger

An inner half cylinder and an outer half cylinder are brazed to each other to form a cylindrical header tank. Both ends of tubes are connected to the inner half cylinder. An opening of the outer half cylinder is communicated with an opening of a joint pipe. A tongue portion which is provided on the periphery of the opening of the outer half cylinder is inserted and curled in the opening of the joint pipe so as to fix the joint pipe on the outer half cylinder firmly.

A header has a tank member having a transverse cross-section of a circular arc shape, and a tube attachment member having a transverse cross-section flatter than the above-mentioned circular arc shape as a whole, are opposed and joined. The tube attachment member has identical curvature portions constituted with an inner diameter R2 which is the same as the inner diameter R2 of the tank member at both sides to be joined to the tank member, and has a large curvature portion constituted with an inner diameter R1 which is larger than the inner diameter R2 of the tank member at an intermediate portion interposed between the identical curvature portions. A connecting position P between the identical curvature portion and the large curvature portion is inside from both edges of a tube.

A refrigeration system for use in an automotive air conditioner comprises a compressor for compressing vapor-phase refrigerant, a condenser connected to the outlet of the compressor, an expansion valve connected to the outlet of the valve, and a vapor pressure-adjusting valve mounted in the passage extending from the evaporator to the compressor. When the vapor pressure inside this passage is less than a certain value, the adjusting valve reduces the flow of refrigerant from the evaporator to the compressor to maintain the vapor pressure constant. A part of the liquid-phase refrigerant on the downstream side of the condenser is added to the refrigerant evaporated by the evaporator, by means of the adjusting valve.
