An image capturing device includes: a housing; a reference pattern used for color measurement and arranged in the housing; an image capturing element that captures an image of the reference pattern in a first area and an image of an object in a second area of the image capturing area; an image forming element causing the image of the reference pattern and the image of the object to be formed on the image capturing element by being arranged on a first optical path between the image capturing element and the reference pattern and a second optical path between the image capturing element and the object; and an optical member that guides any one of the images of the reference pattern and the object formed by the image forming element so that the images are to be formed on an element surface of the image capturing element.

A movable member encoder is used to detect the position of a movable member, and a correction value calculator calculates a correction value corresponding to the amount of displacement of the movable member from a reference position and the integration of the amount of displacement. The correction value calculated by the correction value calculator is then used in correcting a voltage instruction value output from a feed motor controller to a feed motor.

An image scanning device includes a base part; and multiple image sensors each including a substrate, a line sensor including scanning elements arranged on the substrate, and a holder for holding the substrate. The base part holds the image sensors such that the scanning elements of an image sensor partly overlap the scanning elements of an adjacent image sensor in the main-scanning direction. The coefficients of linear expansion of the substrate and the base part are substantially the same; the holder and the base part are fixed together at a first fixing point; the holder and the substrate are fixed together at a second fixing point; and the distance in the main-scanning direction between the first fixing point and the second fixing point and the direction of the second fixing point with respect to the first fixing point are the same for all the image sensors.

A conveying distance control device includes a conveying roller; a first detecting unit detecting rotational positions of the conveying roller; a line sensor sequentially detecting marks arranged on a test chart; a calculation unit, and a control unit. The calculation unit calculates a skew angle between a line passing through positions of a first mark and a second mark and a conveying direction of the conveying roller. The control unit obtains conveying distance errors indicating differences between corrected conveying distances not including errors caused by the skew angle and theoretical conveying distance of the marks in association with the rotational positions of the conveying roller, calculates a correction value for correcting a conveying distance of the conveying roller based on relationships between the conveying distance errors and the rotational positions of the conveying roller, and controls the conveying distance of the conveying roller based on the correction value.
