The present invention relates to compounds, which are useful for treatment and/or prevention of diabetes mellitus, diabetes mellitus complications or obesity, since the compounds have glucokinase-activating effects, and are presented in Formula (I): wherein R1 represents a carbamoyl group; R2 represents a lower alkyl group; both of X1 and X2 represent CH, or any one of X1 and X2 represents a nitrogen atom and the other represents CH; a group of represents a group selected from the group consisting of a pyridinyl, a pyrazinyl, a pyrazolyl, a thiadiazolyl, a triazolyl, an isoxazolyl and a thiazolyl group; and k is zero or 1, or relates to pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

The histamine-H3 receptor antagonist comprises a piperidine derivative compound of formula (I) [wherein Xand Xindependently represent a nitrogen atom or CH; Y represents a specific group; Xrepresents O&#x2014;(CH); Rand Rindependently resent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a linear or branched lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, or an acetyl group substituted with 2 or 3 fluorine atoms; s is 0 or 1; and m is an integer to make (m+s) 0 or from 1 to 4], or its pharmaceutically-acceptable salt.

2-(substituted pyrrolidinylthio)carbapenem derivatives

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a negative charge, R.sup.2 is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkyl group substituted with a hydroxyl group or --COOR.sup.3 (wherein R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group), A is .dbd.NH, .dbd.NR.sup.4 or .dbd.N(R.sup.4)R.sup.5 (wherein each of R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 which may be the same or different, is a lower alkyl group or a lower alkyl group substituted with a hydroxyl group), p is an integer of from 0 to 3, and each of q and r which may be the same or different, is an integer of from 0 to 5, provided that q and r are not simultaneously 0 and q +r.ltoreq.6; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
