A vehicle body rear structure includes a floor pan, a subframe, an impact absorbing memberprovided behind the subframe, a bracketfor detachably attaching the impact absorbing member, and an extension memberprovided to face a rear end portionof the impact absorbing member. The impact absorbing memberhas a first extending portionalong a lower surfaceof the floor panand a second extending portionthat extends forward with respect to the floor pan. The extension memberextends above the impact absorbing memberin the vertical direction.

Vehicle body rear structure

The vehicle body rear structure includes a floor panel, a subframewhich is provided below the floor panel, an impact absorbing memberwhich is provided behind the subframeand extends in the front-rear direction, and a bracket which detachably attaches the impact absorbing memberto a lower surface of the floor panel. The front end portionof the impact absorbing memberis disposed to be at the same height as the subframein the vertical direction and is disposed with the spacing S from the subframein the front-rear direction.

A bumper cross member for a motor vehicle is produced from an extruded hollow profile and has a front side forming an impact side, a rear side in opposition to the front side, end zones configured for connection to the motor vehicle, a central zone extending between the end zones and bent toward the impact side, and top and bottom sides connecting the rear side with the front side. Each of the top and bottom sides has a projecting flange which is separated from the rear side by a separation cut configured to end shy of the end zones so that the flanges are connected with the bumper cross member in the end zones.

The vehicle body includes: a pair of left and right rear side members extending in a front-rear direction of the vehicle body, and a rear bumper beam which extends in a left-right direction of the vehicle body to be coupled to each rear side member at both ends, and bulges rearward toward a center of the left-right direction. The rear bumper beam has an intermediate body extending in the left-right direction at the center of the left-right direction, and inclined bodies which are displaced forward as expanding to the left and right toward the respectively corresponding rear side member from both ends of the intermediate body. A rearward surface of the intermediate body includes a vertical surface, and an inclined surface which is continuous from at least either an upper end or a lower end of the vertical surface and is displaced forward as separating from the vertical surface.

Vehicle body

A vehicle rear structure includes a side sill joined to a rear frame via an outrigger, a sub-frame mounted on the rear frame from below, and a fuel tank mounted on the sub-frame. The sub-frame is provided with a load transmitting member that opposes the outrigger. An impact load applied to the sub-frame is transmitted to the outrigger via the load transmitting member. The transmitted impact load is distributed to the two components, the rear frame (specifically, front frame section) and the side sill via the outrigger.

A collision load is appropriately absorbed even in a case that the collision load is intersectionally input from the oblique rear with respect to the vehicle longitudinal direction. A vehicle body rear part structure improved against rear-side collisions is disclosed. The rear part of a vehicle body includes left and right rear side frames; a front cross member and a rear cross member, both extending between the left and right rear side frames; and a bar and a bracket. The rear cross member has arm support parts for supporting lower arms of left and right rear suspensions on a center part which is lower than lateral ends of the vehicle body. The bar is curved in a convex manner toward the bottom of the vehicle body, and the bar connects center parts of the front and rear cross members together. The bracket mounts a rear end of the bar to the rear cross member while enclosing the rear end from the bottom of the vehicle body.

Vehicle body rear part structure

A rear frame structure for a vehicle is disclosed, wherein an impact load can be satisfactorily absorbed in the case of a collision with a rear surface of the vehicle. The rear frame structure includes a pipe-shaped impact-absorbing member located between left and right rear frames. The impact-absorbing member has a center pipe that has a V shape in plan view, formed so as to protrude backward. The impact-absorbing member has left- and right-side pipes extending from the center pipe linearly upwardly to left and right end pipes. The impact load applied to the center pipe causes the left- and right-side pipes to undergo compressive deformation in their axial longitudinal directions as well as bending deformation towards the front of the vehicle body, whereby the impact load is absorbed.
