A double-headed piston type compressor connected with an external device is provided. The compressor includes a plurality of cylinder bore pairs, double-headed pistons, a first rotary valve, a second rotary valve, first suction passages, and second suction passages. In each cylinder bore pair, a first time period from a first top dead center timing, which is timing when the double-headed piston reaches a top dead center in a first compression chamber, to a first communication start timing, which is timing when a first introduction passage starts to communicate with a first suction passage, is different from a second time period from a second top dead center timing, which is timing when the double-headed piston reaches a top dead center in a second compression chamber, to a second communication start timing, which is timing when the second introduction passage starts to communicate with a second suction passages.

The invention is related to a swash plate compressor in which the wear resistance and the lubricating ability of the surfaces of the swash plate which are in contact with the shoes can be enhanced and maintained for a long period of time. In the swash plate compressor, a soft surface coating,is formed on sliding surfaces of any of a swash plate or shoes and the coarseness at ten point mean roughness of the surface of the substrate is made to be 8 &mgr;mRz or less, and preferably 5 &mgr;mRz or less, and more preferably 3 &mgr;mRz or less. Even if the soft surface coating,is partially worn or exfoliated by a sliding load, since the temperature of the soft surface coating,is increased by frictional heat and the soft surface coating,is fluidized, the worn or exfoliated portions are repaired. The soft surface coating,is preferably composed of a coating layer containing molybdenum disulfide.

A compressor includes a housing body and a drive shaft rotatably supported in the housing body. A swash plate is mounted on the swash shaft. Cylinder bores are defined in the housing body. Pistons are operably coupled to the swash plate and are disposed in the cylinder bores. The swash plate converts a rotation of the swash shaft to a reciprocating movement of the pistons along an inner surface of the cylinder bores. Each piston compresses gas supplied from a suction chamber to the associated cylinder bore and discharges the compressed gas to a discharge chamber. Deformation of the inner surface of each cylinder bore is reduced by utilizing pressure of the gas compressed in the cylinder bore.

A cam plate type compressor includes a cam plate having a boss and the cam plate is located in a crank chamber formed within a pair of casings. The cam plate is rotatable with a drive shaft. The compressor also has two-part bearing structure for supporting the cam plate. The bearing has a buffer structure for absorbing an axial load applied to the cam plate. One of the bearing parts is constituted by a rolling bearing and the other is constituted by a flat sliding bearing.

A compressor with a compressing device compresses gas containing oil mist. The compressing device includes a compression chamber. A receiving chamber receives the compressed gas discharged from the compression chamber. The receiving chamber has a duct for discharging the gas from the receiving chamber. A hollow cylinder communicates with the duct and projects inside the receiving chamber. The gas directed toward the duct flows around the cylinder to generate centrifugal force for separating the oil mist from the gas.

A swash plate type compressor includes an oil separating chamber connected to the discharge chamber for separating lubricant oil from refrigerant gas. A first oil reserve chamber receives the separated oil. A second oil reserve chamber is connected to the first oil reserve chamber. An oil supply port is formed in the valve plate for connecting the second oil reserve chamber to a drive shaft support hole. A restricting member is provided integrally with the discharge valve for regulating the amount of the lubricant oil that passes through the oil supply port.

Drive shaft lubrication arrangement for a swash plate type refrigerant

Disclosed is a compressor designed to facilitate the assembling of the thrust bearing and reduce noise. A swash plate which moves in responsive to the drive shaft is arranged in a crank chamber defined in a pair of cylinder blocks. Ring washers are held between both bosses of the swash plate and seats formed on both cylinder blocks. Wedge-like clearances are formed between the washers and the seats of the cylinder blocks for the effective introduction of the refrigerant gas by the yawing of the swash plate which occurs as the compressor runs. At this time, the washers, together with the lubrication oil mist contained in the refrigerant gas, constitute the dynamic bearing to support the swash plate and permit the relative movement of the swash plate to the cylinder blocks.
