A composite cylinder block for an internal combustion engine includes a main block body made of a metal material and an outer member made of a synthetic resin material. The main block body has a lower deck, a base part and a cylinder wall. The outer member has an upper deck and a water jacket constituting wall surrounding the cylinder wall to define a water jacket. An outer-member-side mating surface is provided with a welding rib on a lower end of the water jacket constituting wall and is heat-welded to a top surface of the base part by heating the main block body from the lower side and pressing the outer-member-side mating surface against the main block body. The welded surfaces of the main block body and the outer member are in one plane orthogonal to a cylinder axis direction.

Complexed cylinder block

A cylinder block () includes a main block body () made of a metal material and an outer member () made of a resin material and welded to the main block body (). The main block body () has a cylinder wall () defining therein a cylinder bore () and a second columnar part (B) formed at a position apart from the cylinder wall (). The outer member () has a second columnar part insertion hole () and defines a water jacket between the outer member () and the cylinder wall (). The second columnar part (B) is placed in the second columnar part insertion hole () with a predetermined clearance left between the second columnar part insertion hole () and the second columnar part (B), in a state of being isolated from the water jacket, and extends to a cylinder head.

Composite cylinder block

A fuel cell stack seal structure of a fuel cell stack, the fuel cell stack including a plurality of fuel cell single cells that are stacked, each of the fuel cell single cells including a membrane electrode assembly and a pair of separators holding the membrane electrode assembly between the pair of separators, includes inner peripheral sealing members and an outer peripheral sealing member at peripheral edges of a pair of separators, in which the inner peripheral sealing members close a gap between inner peripheral ribs that protrude at least towards a mutually facing sides of the pair of separators, and the outer peripheral sealing member that closes a gap between outer peripheral ribs that protrude at least towards the mutually facing sides of the pair of separators. The inner peripheral sealing members and the outer peripheral sealing member form a first closed space between the inner peripheral sealing members and the outer peripheral sealing member. The outer peripheral sealing member has a notch that communicates the first closed space with the outside.
