A clutch device includes an input rotor, a first pressure plate, a second pressure plate, a first clutch disc assembly, a second clutch disc assembly, a first diaphragm spring, a second diaphragm spring, a first adjusting bolt, a first adjusting spring and a first slide bushing. The first adjusting bolt is configured to be axially moved with respect to the first pressure plate when rotated with respect to the first pressure plate. The first adjusting spring is configured to apply rotational force to the first adjusting bolt. The first slide bushing is disposed while being allowed to restrict the first pressure plate from moving towards the first clutch disc assembly.

Clutch device

A clutch cover assembly () is a clutch cover assembly for pressing and releasing a friction member of a clutch disk assembly against and from the flywheel of an engine, and includes a clutch cover (), a pressure plate (), a diaphragm spring (), a cone spring (), and a limiting mechanism (). The limitation mechanism () limits movement of the pressure plate () to the flywheel () side when the amount of wear of the friction member () has reached a maximum allowable wear amount.

It is an object of the present invention to shorten the axial dimension of the clutch cover assembly that includes a wear compensation mechanism and a low release load mechanism. A clutch cover assemblyincludes a clutch cover, a pressure plate, a diaphragm spring, a first wear compensation mechanism, and a mechanismto achieve low release load characteristic. The low release load characteristic achieving mechanismis made of a support bolt, a holder, and a second adjust spring. In a clutch cover assembly, a regulating mechanism allows a fulcrum ring to move in an axial direction away from a pressure plate in response to wear of a friction facing, but limits amount of movement in accordance with the amount of wear. The regulating mechanism includes a bolt and a bushing. The bolt is fixed to a second side face of the pressure plate and extends axially. The bushing is engaged with the bolt by the friction force. In an alternate embodiment, an urging mechanism of the clutch cover assembly urges a fulcrum ring away from the pressure plate. The fulcrum ring is formed with a plurality of first inclined faces which engage second inclined faces formed on a wedge part. A friction plate is disposed between the pressure plate and the wedge part limiting movement of the wedge part.

Wear compensation mechanism for clutch mechanism

A clutch cover assembly 1 is provided with a biasing mechanism 24 disposed between a pressure plate 22 and a fulcrum ring 23 for biasing the fulcrum ring 23 axially away from the pressure plate 23. The biasing mechanism 24 includes a first support plate 31, a second support plate 32, and return springs 33. The first and second support plates 31 and 32 are movable relative to each other in the circumferential direction. The first and second support plates 31 and 32 include first and second tilted surfaces 31a and 32a, respectively, that abut on each other. The return springs 33 are disposed in an inner circumference of the first and second support plates 31 and 32. Each return spring 33 is a tension spring which biases the first and the second support plates 31 and 32 relative to each other in the circumferential direction. Thus, clutch cover assembly 1 is equipped with a wear compensation mechanism that has a simplified biasing mechanism 24 located between the fulcrum ring 23 and the pressure plate 22.

In order to remove readily a modular clutch, a clutch device 1 is installable on a crankshaft 60 as a modular unit which transmits torque to an input shaft 50 of a transmission. A center bolt 70 is provided with a flange 71 having a diameter greater than a center hole 3d of a flexible plate 3 and disposed on the transmission side of a flexible plate 3 and is provided with a sleeve-like fastening portion 72 which extends from the flange 71 through the center hole 3d and may be coupled with the crankshaft 60.

A clutch assembly (1) in a first embodiment is provided with a flywheel (7), a clutch cover (42), arcuate engagement plates (40) and wire members (44). Each arcuate engagement plate (40) includes an engagement portion fixed to an outer circumferential portion of the flywheel (7) and extending in a direction away from an engine and a bent portion (40b) further extending in a axial direction from an end of the engagement portion and bent radially inwardly. The clutch cover (42) has a hole (42b) into which the bent portion (40b) is inserted without any gap in the circumferential direction and is in contact with an end of the engagement portion of an arcuate projecting plate (40). The wire members (44) are detachably disposed between the ends of the bent portions (40b) and the clutch cover (42). The wire members (44) prevent the clutch cover (42) from moving toward the bent portions (40b). In a second embodiment, a clutch assembly (101), arcuate engagement plates (140) are fixed to an outer circumferential portion of the flywheel (7). An outer circumferential portion of the clutch cover (142) is engaged in a non-rotatable manner with the arcuate engagement plate (140) and detachably in a direction away from the flywheel (7). Bolts (144) limit the axial movement of the clutch cover (142) away from the arcuate engagement plates (140).

A plate coupling portion 30 extends through a recess at the flange and connects the clutch and retaining plates 3 and 4 together.

A clutch disc assembly includes a flange having a plurality of window holes formed in a circumferential direction about the flange. A clutch plate and a retaining plate are disposed on either side the flange. The clutch plate and the retaining plate are fixed to each other and include a plurality of window holes corresponding to the window holes of the flange. A plurality of first coil springs are disposed in the window holes of the flange such that each end of the first coil springs are supported in the circumferential direction by the window holes in the retaining plate and the clutch plate. Protrusions are formed on circumferentially opposite ends of the window holes in the flange. The protrusions are configured to engage the first coil spring in response to rotary displacement between the flange and the retaining and clutch plates. Upon engagement between the ends of the first coil spring and the protrusions, the protrusions limit the radial outward movement of the first coil spring. In a second embodiment, the clutch disc assembly includes a spring seat retained within the window hole and which engages the first coil spring to limit radial movement of the first coil spring.
