An organic EL display device includes at least one light emitting unit that includes a first electrode, an organic film that includes a light emitting layer and is provided over the first electrode, and a second electrode that is provided over the organic film and transmits light from the light emitting layer, and an optical adjusting layer that covers the at least one light emitting unit. The optical adjusting layer in a first area that overlaps the at least one light emitting unit in a planar view and the optical adjusting layer in at least one second area that is adjacent to the first area are different from each other in at least one of a number of layers that the optical adjusting layer includes, a film thickness, and a refractive index.

An electroluminescence display device includes an array of pixels in which pixels emitting light of a specific color are regularly aligned and which includes at least a plurality of pixels emitting light of different colors, and in which, in the pixel, a common electrode, a first blocking layer, a light emitting layer, a second blocking layer, and a pixel electrode are laminated in this order when viewed from a viewing direction, at least the light emitting layer, the second blocking layer, and the pixel electrode are provided independently for each pixel, adjacent pixels are separated by a bank, and, at least in a part of the array of pixels, on the bank, the second blocking layer belonging to another pixel having a light-emission color different from that of one pixel is partially overlapped on the light emitting layer belonging to the one pixel.

Electroluminescence display device and manufacturing method thereof

An organic EL display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a substrate; a plurality of pixels located on the substrate; lower electrodes respectively included in the plurality of pixels; a bank defining the plurality of pixels and located between the lower electrodes next to each other; an organic material layer disposed on the lower electrodes and on the bank; and an upper electrode disposed on the organic material layer. A carrier movement preventing layer preventing movement of carriers from the upper electrode to the organic material layer is formed between the organic material layer and the upper electrode on the bank.

A method of manufacturing an organic EL display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: forming a plurality of lower electrodes respectively corresponding to a plurality of pixels on a substrate; forming a plurality of banks, which partition the pixels, between adjacent lower electrodes on the substrate; forming an organic material layer on the lower electrodes and the banks; and selectively irradiating the organic material layer on the banks with an energy ray from a direction of a surface of the organic material layer opposite to a surface of the organic material layer in contact with the banks.

Disclosed is a display device including: a substrate; and a first light-emitting element and a second light-emitting element over the substrate and adjacent to each other. The first light-emitting element and the second light-emitting element each possess a first electrode, an EL layer over the first electrode, a second electrode over the EL layer, and an optical adjustment layer over the second electrode. The optical adjustment layer over the first light-emitting element is different in refraction index from the optical adjustment layer over the second light-emitting element. A first material included in the optical adjustment layer may be the same in composition but different in chemical structure between before and after the light irradiation. Alternatively, the first material may be the same in composition but different in phase structure between before and after the light irradiation.

A reflecting layer is provided for each of a white pixel PW and a plurality of chromatic color pixels PR, PG and PB. A semitransparent reflecting layer is provided for each of the white pixel PW and the plurality of chromatic color pixels PR, PG and PB. The distance between the reflecting layer and the semitransparent reflecting layer in the white pixel PW is larger than the largest distance among distances between the reflecting layer and the semitransparent reflecting layer in the chromatic color pixels PR, PG, PB. Such display device can suppress increase in manufacturing cost and obtain both merits of optical micro-cavity structure and of the white pixel.

According to one embodiment, a display includes a first substrate including a scan line, a signal line, a pixel electrode including first electrodes extending substantially parallel to the signal line, a common electrode including second electrodes extending parallel to the first electrode between the first electrodes and arranged with a predetermined space between each second electrode and the adjacent first electrode, and a shielding portion at least arranged between the signal line and the first electrode arranged near the signal line, a second substrate including a light shielding layer having a width identical to a width of the shielding portion and arranged opposite the signal line, in a direction substantially orthogonal to the signal line, and a liquid crystal layer.
