Disclosed is a high quality display device which avoids complicated element structure, and does not unnecessarily reduce portability. The display device comprises: a pair of substrates which are disposed facing each other, and on each of which electrodes are formed; and a material layer which is sandwiched between the pair of substrates. The material layer contains: a coloring material which changes color upon the application of a voltage; and a light-emitting material which emits light upon photoexcitation.

Display device

An electrodeposition element is provided which includes a first substrate including a first member and an electrode arranged above the first member, a second substrate arranged opposite to the first substrate and including an electrode, and an electrolyte layer arranged between the electrodes of the first substrate and the second substrate, and including an electrodeposition material that contains silver. When a voltage is applied between the electrodes of the first substrate and the second substrate such that the first substrate side is negative and the second substrate side is positive, a reflective surface made of a silver thin film and reflecting light, which is incident from a direction normal to the first and second substrates, in a direction not parallel to the incident direction of the light is formed above the electrode of the first substrate.

Electrodeposition element and mirror device

A light control method for a light control element which can be used even as a transmission-type one, has a high-quality mirror state enabling a high contrast ratio, and enables a display in multiple colors. To this end, in this light control method for a light control element, with respect to a light control element containing a pair of substrates, a pair of electrodes formed on opposed surfaces of the pair of substrates, and an electrolyte layer sandwiched between the pair of electrodes and including an electrochromic material containing silver and a mediator, the applied voltage to be applied between the pair of electrodes is changed in one light control period.

An optical apparatus includes first and second substrates disposed to oppose each other, the first substrate having a first electrode provided on a surface of the first substrate nearer to the second substrate, and the second substrate having a second electrode provided on a surface of the second substrate nearer to the first substrate, and an electrolyte layer sandwiched between the first and the second substrates, and containing electro-deposition material including silver, wherein when potential of the first electrode is used as reference, a first voltage of positive polarity is applied in a first period to the second electrode, and a second voltage of positive polarity lower than the first voltage is applied in a second period after the first period to the second electrode.

Optical apparatus and automobile lighting

Provided are a light-adjusting element and a product containing the same. The light-adjusting element usable even with a transmission display device, and has a high-quality mirror state capable of a high contrast ratio. A light-adjusting element, according to one embodiment of the present invention, is characterized by including: a pair of substrates; a pair of electrodes formed on opposing surfaces of the pair of substrates, with one electrode being a transparent electrode that has nanometer-scale depressions and protrusions; and en electrolyte layer, interposed between the pair of electrodes, which has electrolyte as well as a mediator and an electrochromic material that has silver. Furthermore, a device according to one embodiment of the present invention at least partially includes the light-adjusting element.
