A managing system causes content managed by a server to be updated by a portable terminal by means of a communication network and includes a content updatable location registering device which registers a location which can be updated by a portable terminal.

Content managing system

When a picture image recorded by a digital camera is reproduced, a high quality picture image is immediately reproduced without repetitive test prints for enhancing a picture quality or repetitive minor adjustments based on a confirmation via a monitor. Recording is carried out by a digital camera having a function of adding recording information representing a recording condition (a recording information adding unit) to digital image data obtained by the recording. A set-up processing unit in an image reproducing apparatus carries out image processing on the image data obtained by the recording for enhancing a picture quality using the recording information added to the image data, and the image reproducing apparatus reproduces the image data in the form of a print or a display on a monitor.

Method and apparatus for reproducing image from data obtained by digital camera and digital camera used thereof

An image registration server stores encryption keys of respective ones of a plurality of client terminals. Image data is encrypted by the image registration server using the encryption key corresponding to the client terminal to which the image data is applied. The encrypted image data is applied to the client terminal via a server. The client terminal has a decryption key stored within so that only a client terminal that is duly authorized can decrypt encrypted image data. Other client terminals that are not duly authorized cannot decode the image data. This makes it possible to prevent unlawful use of image data even if the image data has been intercepted.

Image server and method of controlling same

Original images, large images, medium images and thumbnail images are registered with a server system. An original-image file is transmitted from a client computer to the server system. The server system converts the format of the original-image file to generate a large-image file, generates a medium-image file, in which the quantity of data is less than that of the large-image file, from the large-image file, and generates a thumbnail-image file, in which the quantity of data is less than that of the medium-image file, from the medium-image file. The original-image file, large-image file, medium-image file and thumbnail-image file are placed on one folder and stored in an image file unit. After the folder containing the original-image file, etc., has been stored in the image file unit, the user of a client computer having access privileges is capable of accessing files such as the large-image file.

Image data communication system, server system, method of controlling operation of same, and recording medium storing program for control of server system

Using a picture image printing system, both types of pictures recorded by a camera using a film and a digital camera are effectively printed. The printing system comprises a film scanner for inputting a picture recorded on a film, and a card reader for inputting a picture recorded by a digital camera. By switching between the scanner and card reader upon necessity, digital image data is obtained. An image processing apparatus performs pixel number conversion on the digital image data by keeping an aspect ratio of the image constant, so that the picture image data is printed in a width almost the same as a width of rolled paper. The digital image data whose pixel number has been converted are subsequently printed on the rolled paper by a printer.

Picture printing system

A print order reception system for receiving an order for print services is provided with a recording medium reception port for receiving a recording medium on which image data of pictures and print order information including printing conditions for pictures to be printed are recorded in the form of electronic data in a predetermined format. A display system reads out from the recording medium received in the recording medium reception port the image data on the pictures to be printed and the print order information on the pictures to be printed and displays the image data and the print order information as an image.

Print order reception system

In a system in which an editing server and a plurality of client computers are capable of communicating with one another, an edited image can be generated by the plurality of client computers. When image data is transmitted from the image server to the client computer, the resolution of image data to be transmitted is reduced in correspondence with the resolution of a monitor display device connected to the client computer. Further, the number of colors of an image represented by the image data is decreased in correspondence with the number of colors which can be displayed on the monitor display device. The data quantity of the image data to be transmitted is reduced, so that time required to transmit the image data is shortened. A client computer and a main image server are connected to each other. A user image to be synthesized on a template image is read in the client computer. Image data representing the template image used for the image synthesis and image data representing a mask image are transmitted from the main image server to the client computer. In the client computer, image synthesis processing is performed. Image data representing an area required for image synthesis of the user image used for the image synthesis is extracted. The extracted user image data and synthesis information required for the synthesis are transmitted from the client computer to the main image server. In the main image server, a composite image is printed.

Image communication system and method

An individual not accustomed to operating a computer can obtain, with comparative ease, a modified image that is the result of modifying an image obtained by an image sensing operation. A subject is photographed by a video camera, and an image representing the subject is displayed in a main display area of a display unit. A modification target area is set in the main display area in advance, and icons representing methods of modification are displayed in an auxiliary display area. When one of these icons is selected, the image within the modification target area is modified by the selected modification method. If necessary, the user may move so that the portion of the subject image that the user wishes to be modified will fall within the modification target area.

Image modification apparatus and method

A printing system for printing a color image provided via the Internet, includes: a terminal unit, connected to the Internet, operable to obtain the color image; a printer, connected to the terminal unit, operable to print the color image; and a correcting information provider operable to provide the terminal unit with correcting information for allowing the color image to be corrected in accordance with at least color characteristics of the printer, wherein the printer prints the color image by using the correcting information.

A printing system for performing printing of printing information corresponding to provided information provided by the Internet, includes: an information sending apparatus operable to provide the provided information; a terminal unit operable to print the printing information with a printer; and a printing managing apparatus operable to obtain a printing cost required for the printing by the printer and to compensate the printing cost.

Style sheets indicating layouts of a plurality of types are stored in a server. The user of a client computer selects the style sheet having the desired layout. When the user of the client computer subsequently accesses the server for the purpose of conducting a search, the results of the search are displayed on the selected style sheet. In an arrangement in which an image captured by photography is recorded on new-type photographic film having an information recording zone for magnetically recording information relating to the film or frames on the film, information concerning the aspect ratio of the image is exploited in an effective manner and the aspect ratio is capable of being altered at will. The image recorded on the new-type photographic film and the aspect ratio information in the information recording zone are read by a film scanner. Original digital image data obtained by the reading operation, length X and width Y of the image and effective image size data (length A and width B) generated from the aspect ratio information are recorded on a floppy disk or optical disk by a disk device. When an original image represented by the original digital image data obtained from the floppy or optical disk is displayed, the size thereof is made that stipulated by the effective image size. The data representing the effective image size on the disk are rewritten in response to an entered alteration command.
