Optical device includes first substrate being light transmissive, second substrate opposing first substrate and being light transmissive, and light distribution layer disposed between first substrate and second substrate and distributing incident light. Light distribution layer includes uneven structure portion having a plurality of projections repeated in the z axial direction parallel to the main face of first substrate, and optical medium portion containing a birefringent material and disposed to fill a plurality of recesses that are spaces between the plurality of projections. Light blocking component configured to block at least part of incident light is disposed in the plurality of recesses.

Optical drive

An organic electroluminescent element includes an optically transparent electrode, a counter electrode, an emission layer, an auxiliary reflective layer and a diffusion-preventing layer. The counter electrode is paired with the optically transparent electrode and formed of Ag or an alloy containing Ag and has light reflectivity. The emission layer is disposed between the optically transparent electrode and the counter electrode. The auxiliary reflective layer is disposed on an opposite side of the counter electrode from the emission layer. The diffusion-preventing layer is disposed between the counter electrode and the auxiliary reflective layer whose components are prevented from diffusing and moving therebetween.

Organic electroluminescent element and lighting device

Provided is an organic electroluminescent element superior in long-term durability and lifetime characteristics. The organic electroluminescent element has a structure where plurality of light-emitting layers formed via an intermediate layer are interposed between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The intermediate layer has a mixed layer, a first layer, and a hole-injection layer which are formed in this order from the positive electrode to the negative electrode, the mixed layer containing an electron-donating substance and an electron-transporting organic material, and the first layer being made of an electron-transporting material. The first layer has a thickness in a range of 0.2 to 2.0 nm. The hole-injection layer consists of an electro-accepting organic material.

Organic electroluminescent element

An organic EL device in the present invention comprises a light-transmissive substrate, an organic light emitting layer, a light-transmissive electrodedisposed between the light-transmissive substrateand the organic light emitting layer, and a light guiding layerwhich is disposed between the substrateand the light-transmissive electrode. The light guiding layeris configured to alter light direction. The organic EL device is configured to emit light from the organic light emitting layer, and allow the light to propagate out through said light guiding layer, the light-transmissive electrode, and the light-transmissive substrate. The light guiding layerincludes a light dispersion layer. The light dispersion layeris formed with a light dispersion regionand a light-transmissive region, which are arranged in a coplanar relation within said light dispersion layer. The light dispersion regioncontains light dispersion particlesand a binder resin. The light-transmissive regioncontains the light dispersion particlesat a lower ratio than the light dispersion region. The organic EL device in the present invention enables to improve an overall light output by suppressing the reduction of light output in the front direction as well as increasing light output in diagonal directions.

Organic EL device

An organic luminescent element comprises a substrate, an organic electroluminescence element formed on one surface thereof and having a light-emitting section emitting light to the substrate, and a lens attached on the other surface of the substrate. A refraction index of the lens is &#x2267; that of the substrate. An area of the light-emitting section, parallel to the substrate's surface, is smaller than an area of the substrate on which the lens is attached. An angle &#x3b8; between a line perpendicular to the substrate's surface in a direction from the light-emitting section toward the substrate and a straight line connecting an end of the light-emitting section and an end of the lens, is set to be &#x2267;60&#xb0;.

Organic luminescent element

[Problem] The present invention aims to provide an electroluminescence device with an improved intermediate layer, for achieving a superior durability and sustainability performance thereof. [Solution] The present invention refers to organic electroluminescence devices having a plurality of light emitting layersbetween an anodeand a cathodewith the intermediate layerbeing interposed between two of the light emitting layers. The intermediate layercomprises one layerselected from a group consisting of a charge transfer complex layer made of a charge transfer complex, a metal layer made of a metal having a work function of 3.7 eV or less, and a metal compound layer made of a compound of the metal; an electrically conductive material-containing light transmissive layer; a charge transport organic material layerformed of a charge transport organic material; and a hole injection material layerformed of a hole injection material, which are superimposed in this order. The charge transport material layeris formed to have a thickness in a range of 0.5 nm to 30 nm.

Organic electroluminescence device and method of fabricating the same

An organic electroluminescence device comprises a light transmissive substrate, a light scattering region which is disposed on the light transmissive substrate, and a light emissive layer having a luminescent point. The luminescent point is spaced from the light reflective electrode by a distance of d which satisfies the following equation:

Disclosed is a multilayer organic solar cell having a structure wherein an inter-layer () is arranged between a first photoactive layer () and a second photoactive layer (). This structure is obtained by forming the inter-layer () on the first photoactive layer () which is formed from an organic compound solution containing a donor material and an acceptor material, and then applying an organic compound solution containing a donor material and an acceptor material over the inter-layer () for forming the second photoactive layer (). The inter-layer () is composed of at least either of a transparent oxide and a transparent nitride. By having such a structure, the inter-layer () prevents the solvent in the solution for the second photoactive layer () from permeating into the first photoactive layer () when the second photoactive layer () is formed over the first photoactive layer () by applying the solution. Consequently, the first photoactive layer () is prevented from destruction or deterioration in functions.
