A compound A containing Li, S, and M elements (M is phosphorus or the like), and containing a crystal phase with an argyrodite-type crystal structure is prepared, and the compound A and a conductive material are mixed to obtain a composite material in which these materials are composited. The mixing is performed such that an amorphous degree N obtained by 100×(I−I)/Iis 97% or more, where an intensity of a peak A observed at 2θ=29.7°±1.00° in an XRD pattern of the compound A is taken as I, and an intensity of a peak B observed at 2θ=29.7°±1.00° in an XRD pattern of the composite material is taken as I. The atomic ratio of a halogen (X) element to the phosphorus (P) element contained in the compound A is preferably less than 1.0.

Provided is a sulfide-based solid electrolyte which is capable of suppressing the generation of hydrogen sulfide caused by reaction with moisture even when in contact with dry air in a dry room or the like, and capable of maintaining lithium ion conductivity. Provided is a sulfide-based solid electrolyte comprising lithium, phosphorus, sulfur, and a halogen, as a novel solid electrolyte capable of suppressing generation of hydrogen sulfide and securing ionic conductivity. The solid electrolyte is characterized by comprising LiPSHa(wherein Ha represents a halogen, and 'a' satisfies 0.2&#x3c;a&#x2264;1.8) having an argyrodite-type crystal structure, and LiPS, wherein, in an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern obtained through measurement by an X-ray diffraction method, the ratio of the peak intensity of a peak appearing at a position in a range of diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=26.0&#xb0; to 28.8&#xb0; derived from LiPS, relative to the peak intensity of a peak appearing at a position in a range of diffraction angle 2&#x3b8;=24.9&#xb0; to 26.3&#xb0; derived from the argyrodite-type crystal structure, is 0.04 to 0.3.

Solid electrolyte

A method for producing a sulfide solid electrolyte includes a firing step of firing a raw material containing LiS in a hydrogen sulfide-containing atmosphere at a temperature of 300&#xb0; C. or higher, LiS having a purity of 50 to 90% by mass at the start of firing. The LiS may contain impurities including at least one of LiOH, LiO, LiHCO, and LiCO. In the firing step, it is preferable that a concentration of a hydrogen sulfide in the hydrogen sulfide-containing atmosphere is 50 volume % or more. It is preferable that the raw material further contains PSand LiX (X represents at least one type of elemental halogen), and the sulfide solid electrolyte has an argyrodite-type crystal structure.

Method for producing sulfide solid electrolyte

Provided is a novel crystalline solid electrolyte which can be used as a dispersion medium when slurrying polar solvents such as NMP, acetone, and DMF, and for which a decrease in conductivity when the crystalline solid electrolyte is immersed in said solvents can be suppressed. Provided is a solid electrolyte with which charge/discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics can be increased by reducing the electron conductivity of a compound which has a cubic crystal structure belonging to a space group F-43m, and is represented by Compositional Formula: LiPSHa(Ha is Cl or Br). Proposed is a sulfide-based solid electrolyte for a lithium ion battery, which includes a compound having a cubic crystal structure belonging to a space group F-43m, and being represented by Compositional Formula: LiPSHa(Ha is Cl or Br), in which x in the above Compositional Formula is 0.2 to 1.8, and the value of the lightness L* thereof in the L*a*b* color system is 60.0 or more.
