In an image forming apparatus and method for forming an image on plural surfaces in which the image forming sequence is practiced at the same time regardless of the type of sheets of the manuscript document which are sent from the ADF to the manuscript document reading-out apparatus and set thereon. The image information read out by scanning the first manuscript document sent from the ADF to the first reading-out position 25 at the upstream side of the manuscript document reading-out section is temporarily stored and kept therein. At the time point of finishing the scanning operation for the first manuscript document, the first manuscript document set on the first reading-out position of the manuscript document reading-out section is sent to the second reading-out position 26 at the downstream side. The second manuscript document mounted on the document mounting stand is sent to the first reading-out position. The first manuscript document transfers the toner image onto the intermediate transfer belt in accordance with the image information stored in the page memory. The second manuscript document transfers the toner image onto the intermediate transfer belt in accordance with the read-out image information. The invention relates to the image forming apparatus and method as mentioned above.

Image forming apparatus and a method for forming an image on plural

In a digital copier system wherein a plurality of applications share a plurality of resources, a system controller executes exclusive control with duplex copy unit requests sent from a plurality of applications, thereby allowing only one application to use a duplex copy unit. This guarantees the consistency of the system by eliminating problems attributable to a decision on the duplex copy unit which differs from one application to another application. Further, when a paper or papers are left on the unit after a certain application has occupied the unit for more than a predetermined period of time, the system forcibly discharges them from the unit and causes the application to release the right to use the unit.

Digital copier system

A digital copier system wherein a plurality of applications share resources. When two or more applications generate requests for using resources including an image forming device, they are allowed to use the resources in an interleaved order matching a predetermined priority order. Accordingly, different applications alternatively access the resources simultaneously in an order determined by the priority order. For example, a copier can take priority over a printer or facsimile machine to use an image reading device while the printer or facsimile machine uses the image forming device. A user gives a desired priority order to the applications beforehand, and the system is conveniently used even when a plurality of applications share the image forming device.

In a folding-order image forming apparatus, image data provided by reading an original image are stored to a page memory. When a copy is made in an electrostatic photographic process in accordance with the image data, the read image data are processed to divide the original image into a plurality of divisional images. Required images with respect to the divisional images are rotated, rearranged and outputted by the operation of a page memory control circuit in accordance with a divisional number of a recording image, etc. Thus, the images are formed in an opening shape by folding or cutting a sheet of recording paper along a divisional boundary of images thereon. Disclosed herein is a rubber-modified styrene copolymer which contains as an impact strength modifier a rubbery polymer having a viscosity of 2-250 centipoises as measured at 25.degree. C. as a 5 wt. % styrene solution and a styrene insoluble content lower than 0.1 wt. %, produced by anionic polymerization and dispersed in a continuous phase of a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer. The rubbery polymer contains small particles of the same styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer occluded in the form of cells. The areas of particles in each of which the maximum cell diameter is smaller than 0.1 .mu.m are at least 40% of the area of all the particles of the rubbery polymer and the volume average particle size of these particles is 0.1-0.4 .mu.m. The weight ratio of the monomers in the styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer is 90/10.gtoreq.styrene/acrylonitrile.gtoreq.55/45. Per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer, the proportions of polymers having a molecular weight greater than 1,000,000 is smaller than 0.5 part by weight while the proportion of polymers having a molecular weight greater than 1,200,000 is smaller than 0.01 part by weight.
