A display device () includes a light-emitting device (), a reflective liquid crystal element (), and an optical member (). The light-emitting device () includes a plurality of light-emitting units () and a light-transmitting unit () located between the light-emitting units () adjacent to each other. The light-emitting device () is located between the reflective liquid crystal element () and the optical member (). The plurality of light-emitting units () emit light toward the reflective liquid crystal element (). The light emitted from the plurality of light-emitting units () is reflected by the reflective liquid crystal element (), transmitted through the light-emitting unit () of the light-emitting device (), and formed into an image by the optical member ().

Display device

A substrate () is a light-transmitting substrate. A light-transmitting first electrode () is formed over the substrate (). An insulating layer () is formed over the substrate () and the first electrode () and includes an opening () overlapping the first electrode (). An organic layer () is located within at least the opening (). A light-transmitting second electrode () is formed over the organic layer (). An intermediate layer () is formed in at least a portion of a region of a lateral side of the first electrode () overlapping the first electrode (). A refractive index of the intermediate layer () is between a refractive index of the substrate () and a refractive index of the first electrode ().

A light-emitting device () is, for example, a segment type display device, a display, or a lighting device, and includes a light-emitting portion (), a light-transmitting portion (), and an insulating film (). The light-emitting portion () has a first electrode (), an organic layer (), and a second electrode (). The light-transmitting portion () has the first electrode (), the second electrode (), and a first layer. The first layer is located between the first electrode () and the second electrode (). In an example illustrated in the figure, the first layer is at least a part of the organic layer (). The insulating film () defines the light-emitting portion () and is located in the light-transmitting portion ().

Light-emitting device

When visible light (light having wavelength of 380 nm or more and 780 nm or less) is transmitted through a first light transmitting region (TR) (a first light emitting portion ()), a second light transmitting region (TR) (a second light emitting portion ()) and a third light transmitting region (TR) (a first light transmitting portion ()), more specifically, when light from a D65 light source is transmitted through the first light transmitting region (TR), the second light transmitting region (TR) and the third light transmitting region (TR), both of a color difference between the first light transmitting region (TR) and the third light transmitting region (TR) and a color difference between the second light transmitting region (TR) and the third light transmitting region (TR) are both, for example, 0.4 or more and 6.5 or less in CIELAB. This reduces conspicuousness of both of the first light transmitting region (TR) and the second light transmitting region (TR). Furthermore, it is possible to identify the first light transmitting region (TR), the second light transmitting region (TR), and the third light transmitting region (TR).
