An injection pressure waveform for use as a target value for injection pressure feedback control is set based on the actual injection pressure waveform detected when a conforming molded article is obtained. Alternatively, the target injection pressure waveform may be set by modifying a previously retained injection pressure waveform or an actual injection pressure waveform. Two points on the displayed injection pressure waveform are assigned, and the pressure waveform is modified into a line connecting these two points (TTT). Over the whole range of the injection process, standard injection speeds and pressures are set and sections for injection speed control and sections for pressure control are set according to the length of time t, screw position S, or injection pressure P, each after the start of injection, or following the combination of the length of time and the screw position or of the length of time and the injection pressure. The arrival at the point of changeover from one control section to another is followed by a control mode shift. If the shift is made for speed control, injection speed is controlled in a manner such that actual injection speed may agree with one standard injection pressure, while if pressure control is selected by the shift, there is provided feedback control which is put into practice so that actual injection pressure may coincide with one standard injection pressure. During the injection process, injection control is effected by speed control or pressure control, whichever is optimal for each of respective sections, whereby stabilized injection molding may be assured.

In a series of injection and pressure holding processes, a movable platen is retracted from a mold clamping dwell position P2 to a mold opening dwell position P1, so that a substantial volume of a cavity of a mold is increased to temporarily lower the internal pressure of the cavity, thus making an internal stress of resin to be a product uniform to eliminate stress strains. In this method, an injection molding is performed to produce a precise product having no warp or strain even in molding a light guide plate which is subjected to molding abnormalities by the temporary stoppage of the injection pressure holding process according to the conventional method.

A cylinder temperature setting method in which the cylinder temperature distribution obtained in the condition setting operation is realized with fidelity, even when the molding operation is performed on injection molding machines which are different from the injection molding machine used for condition setting in the number and/or positions of heat sources arranged on the injection cylinder. A waveform representing the cylinder temperature distribution is obtained from the relationship between the temperatures of respective cylinder portions detected by thermocouples and the positions of the respective thermocouples when a conforming product is molded by a reference injection molding machine. The obtained waveform is stored and reserved in a record medium. The target values for temperature control of respective cylinder portions of another injection molding machine are obtained based on the reserved waveform, thereby realizing the cylinder temperature distribution obtained in the condition setting.

A programmable logic controller capable of freely and sequentially controlling peripheral equipment without modifying a system program. Necessary data for sequence control of the peripheral equipment are selected from data defined in the system program. The memory addresses corresponding to the data are assigned to addresses to be used in a user program in an address storage unit. The controller executes the system program to sequentially control an industrial machine, and also executes the user program to control the peripheral equipment. The controller refers to the data being used in executing the system program, which are necessary for sequence control of the peripheral equipment, based on the designated relationship of the addresses stored in the address storage unit. Since necessary data for sequence control of the peripheral equipment can be obtained by combining the addresses arbitrarily by the user, it is not necessary to modify the system program in order to obtain the necessary data for sequence control of the peripheral equipment.

According to this method, the set values of the injection molding conditions can be modified while observing the pressure curve displayed on the screen of the CRT display device simultaneously therewith.

An average is obtained between output readings of a pressure sensor obtained when forward and reverse thrusts are applied to an injection screw by positively driving a servomotor for injection. The average value is used as a correction value for a reading deviation of the pressure sensor. The injection servomotor is positively driven to apply a thrust to the screw. This known thrust and the actual reading of the sensor are compared. A deviation between these values is used as the correction value for the reading deviation of the sensor.

A cylinder temperature controller for an injection molding machine in which an injection molding operation is performed while keeping the injection cylinder at a stable preset temperature regardless of disturbances such as the change of mold temperature or ambient temperature and the temperature rise caused by the shear compression of resin. A temperature regulator for carrying out PID feedback control of the injection cylinder temperature is provided with a PID adjusting means unit for automatic tuning. The actual temperature T of each portion of the injection cylinder is detected by a thermocouple. When the actual temperature T deviates from a predetermined temperature range defined by an upper limit [A+B] and lower limit [A-B] which are set on the basis of the preset target temperature A, an automatic tuning command is outputted to the temperature regulator. Upon receipt of this command, the PID adjusting unit sets the PID parameters again at a value suitable to the disturbance. By keeping the PID parameters to be suitable to the disturbance, the actual temperature T of each portion of the cylinder agrees with the preset target temperature A regardless of the change of the disturbance.
