A rotor type open-end spinning machine of a structure in which fibers moving slidingly on an inner wall surface of an outer rotor (2) are prevented from falling at a location where a fiber bundle is being stripped off from a fiber collecting/bundling section (7) while being twisted concurrently. An inner rotor (5) is disposed within the outer rotor (2) and positively driven independently of the latter. A delivery passage (20) is formed in the inner rotor (5) for guiding a fiber bundle (F) bundled in a fiber collecting/bundling groove (7) to a yarn withdrawing passage (14). An annular negative-pressure chamber (6) is formed radially outward of the fiber collecting/bundling groove (7) of the outer rotor (2) with air discharge holes (9) being provided for communicating the negative-pressure chamber (6) to the exterior of the outer rotor (2). A plurality of air vent through-holes (8) are formed each at a location close to the delivery passage (20) with a predetermined distance therebetween in a circumferential direction for communicating an inner space defined in the outer rotor (2) to the negative-pressure chamber (6). A shield member (21) is formed on the inner rotor (5) for intercepting the air vent through-holes (8) from the negative-pressure chamber (6) except for those located in a predetermined region opposite the delivery passage (20).

Rotor type open-end spinning machine

A rotor type open-end spinning unit has a collecting section collecting an opened and supplied fiber to make a fiber bundle. The fiber bundle is drawn through a yarn drawing passage to spin a yarn while twisting the fiber bundle. A rotatable outer rotor has an open end, a closed end and a peripheral wall. The peripheral wall has the collecting section on an inner surface thereof. The collecting section is located on a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the rotor. An inner rotor is located in the outer rotor and is driven independently. The inner rotor faces an end of the yarn drawing passage. A yarn path is provided with the inner rotor for guiding the fiber bundle from the collecting section to the yarn drawing passage. A first guide is provided with the inner rotor for contacting the fiber bundle guided to the yarn drawing passage through the yarn path from a frontward location with respect to the rotational direction of the inner rotor. A second guide is located frontward of the first guide and between the first guide and the inner surface of the outer rotor. The second guide guides the yarn toward the yarn drawing passage in cooperation with the first guide.

Rotor type open-end spinning unit having outer and inner rotors

A rotor type open-end spinning frame spins a yarn from a fiber bundle formed from unraveled fibers at a fiber collecting section while applying a twist to the fiber bundle during normal spinning, and which pieces the fiber bundle to a standard thread supplied to the fiber collecting section during yarn piecing. The spinning frame has a rotatable outer rotor which has an inner wall with a fiber collecting section. A conduit member is fixed opposite the open-end of the outer rotor and induct the fiber bundle and the standard thread therethrough. An inner rotor is disposed coaxially to and rotatable in the outer rotor. The inner rotor rotates independently of the outer rotor during both normal spinning and yarn piecing. A passage in the inner rotor communicates with the conduit member and guides the fiber bundle from the fiber collecting section to the conduit member during yarn spinning. Another passage in the inner rotor communicates with the conduit member and introduces the standard thread into the fiber collecting section from the conduit member during yarn piecing. A restriction device in the inner rotor retains the fiber bundle within the first passage by engaging with the fiber bundle during yarn spinning.

Opened fibers are supplied into a rotor in high rotation, and a fiber bundle collected at a fiber-collecting section of the rotor is drawn as yarn from a yarn drawing passage provided on the open side of the rotor. A rotary assembly which is actively driven separately from the rotor is provided coaxially in the rotor. The rotary assembly has at least part thereof facing the vicinity of the fiber-collecting section and another part shaped to face a first end of the yarn drawing passage. The rotary assembly is provided with a yarn passage for guiding a fiber bundle to a position opposite the yarn drawing passage from the vicinity of the fiber-collecting section. A twist propagation preventing portion is provided in that end of the yarn passage that lies on the fiber-collecting section side. The rotation of the fiber bundle is suppressed by the twist propagation preventing portion, stopping the twisting. At the time the fiber bundle is twisted, tension is applied to the fibers so that the fibers are twisted while being stretched.

A fiber control apparatus in an open-end spinning frame is disclosed. According to the invention, in an open-end spinning unit having a fiber passage through which fibers opened by the combing roller are carried into the spinning chamber of the rotor, one or more nozzles are provided in the unit, each nozzle having an outlet opening located adjacent to the fiber outlet opening of the fiber passage so that one or more streams of jet air, emitted from the nozzle or nozzles, direct and guide the fibers introduced into the chamber toward the interior peripheral surface of the spinning chamber of the rotor, thus causing the fibers to reach said surface immediately without being slowed or bent by ambient air streams within the chamber. Consequently, formation of yarn having bent or randomly attached fibers is substantially prevented, whereby the strength and quality of the spun yarn is greatly improved.

Fiber control apparatus in an open-end spinning frame

An open-end spinning unit is provided which has a spinning rotor open on one side and a bottom wall and an inner wall. A closing element covers the open side of the rotor and includes a fiber supply duct. To enhance the air conveyance of fibers to the inner wall, at least one suction opening is provided downstream of an outlet opening of the fiber supply duct in the closing element so that an airstream directed from the outlet opening toward the suction opening is generated in the same direction as the direction of rotation of the rotor. This invention is applicable not only to a forced-exhaustion type of unit but also to a self-exhaustion type of unit.

An improved spinning rotor for an open-end spinning frame is disclosed herein, according to which the rotor is made of steel, and selected portions of its interior peripheral surfaces, including the fiber-collecting groove thereof, which is formed along the maximum-diameter region within the spinning chamber, are heat-treated by a focused laser beam or focused electron beam to harden the same. Due to the nature of laser beams, only those areas which require surface hardening are heat-treated without heating the entire rotor body, so that no strain or distortion is developed in the rotor during the heat treatment process. As a result, the rotor is heat-treated to provide excellent wear-resisting properties and exceptional stability in operation at an extremely high speed for an extended period of service.

A spinning unit for an open end spinning machine is disclosed. The unit includes a rotor having a short cylindrical portion defining a central aperture, a frustoconical portion connected at one end to and converging toward the cylindrical portion, and a portion connected to the other end of the frustoconical portion with air discharge openings. The unit further includes a casing having a first portion, and a second portion connected to the first portion of the casing and surrounding the portion of the rotor connected to the other end of the frustoconical portion to define an annular chamber into which air is discharged through the air discharge openings during rotation of the rotor. The first portion has an inner surface substantially surrounding both the cylindrical and frustoconical portions of the rotor in spaced relationship therewith thereby to provide a relatively long and narrow bent passage defined between the first portion of the casing and the cylindrical and frustoconical portions of the rotor and extending between the central aperture of the rotor and the chamber of the casing.

In an improved combing roller provided with a metallic wire mounted on a body thereof comprising a main cylindrical body and a pair of flanges coaxially formed at both ends of the main cylindrical body, a base portion of the metallic wire rigidly pressed into a right hand or a left hand helical groove formed in the main body and the working direction of the metallic wire coincide with the rotational direction of the combing roller, at a terminal portion of the metallic wire facing one of the flanges on a side of the combing roller corresponding to the direction of progress of an imaginary right hand screw imaginarily engaged with the above-mentioned right hand helical groove or an imaginary left hand screw imaginary engaged with the above-mentioned left hand helical groove when the imaginary screws are turned in the direction corresponding to the rotational direction of the combing roller, at least one tooth is inclined toward the above-mentioned flange.

Disclosed herein is a fiber feeding roller for an open-end spinning apparatus, wherein a plurality of projections with flat surface are formed in rows extending in axial direction of the body of said fiber feeding roller on the outer circumferential surface thereof and, simultaneously, a plurality of projections with knurled surface are arranged between the aforesaid projections with flat surface, whereby preventing harmful sliver slippage on said feeding roller and also providing a uniform nip for the sliver irrespective of the size thereof so that said fiber feeding roller may be applicable to a wider range of count numbers of spinning yarns and the quality of such spinned yarns may be improved as well.

An open end spinning machine includes a plurality of spinning units, in each of which a sliver is opened by a carding roller and transported, in the form of individually opened fibers, into a spinning rotor through a fiber supply channel provided in a housing for the carding roller. This invention provides a rotor sealing device used on an open-end spinning apparatus having a spinning rotor which forms therein air-discharge apertures, the opening in said spinning rotor being openably closed by a body member which has a fibers delivery aperture formed therein; said rotor sealing device being characterized in that a sealing member is inserted into the space located between said rotor opening and said body member positioned in opposite relation thereto. This device, though being of such a simple construction, is capable of improving the effect of rotor inside sealing over devices heretofore.

An open-end spinning frame comprises a fiber feeding mechanism, constructed with a feed foller and a presser urged towards the feed roller, a combing roller having a metallic wire wound therearound, a rotor for spinning the fibers delivered from the combing roller, and a pair of flat side plates. The feeding mechanism is provided with a passage for flowing air current, which passage is formed by chamfering the side of the presser, by shortening the width of the feed roller or by forming only one projection at the front end of the presser. An open end rotor for a spinning machine generally comprises a rotary chamber with an open end and an opposite closed end, a first annular wall extending from the open end radially outwardly from a rotational axis and toward the closed end, and a second annular wall extending from the closed end radially outwardly from the rotational axis and toward the first wall to define a fibre collecting space. The first wall comprises an inner portion forming an angle of 55.degree. to 75.degree. with a horizontal plane, and an outer portion.
