A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine is formed by a first metal plate extending substantially throughout an entire area to be sealed and having a first hole corresponding to a hole of the engine, and second and third metal plates disposed to sandwich the first plate and having second and third holes formed in the respective second and third plates corresponding to the first hole. First and second beads are formed in the respective second and third plates to extend toward the first metal plate. A first resin coating is deposited on at least one side of the first metal plate at an inner portion relative to the first bead, and a second resin coating is deposited on at least one side of the first metal plate at an outer portion relative to the first bead without extending over an entire surface thereof. The second resin coating has a thickness at most equal to that of the first resin coating. The surface pressure around the hole can be adjusted precisely.

A metal gasket for an internal combustion engine is basically formed of a main plate. The main plate includes a first hole for constituting one of bolt holes, a second hole corresponding to a fluid hole and situated adjacent to the first hole, and a full bead having a first half bead and a second half bead situated outside the first half bead. The first half bead completely surrounds only the second hole, and the second half bead surrounds the first and second holes. Thus, a portion away from the first hole is surrounded by the first and second half beads to securely seal around the second hole. Also, the tightening pressure by the bolt can be supported with good balance.

Metal gasket with two half beads

Pipes are securely connected by an annular gasket. The gasket includes an inner portion, an outer portion situated radially outwardly of the inner portion, and a resilient connecting portion for connecting the inner and outer portions at one side of the gasket. The pipes to be connected includes male and female pipes. The male pipe has a first engaging section to be engaged with the inner portion of the gasket, and the female pipe for receiving therein the male pipe has a second engaging section at one side thereof. The second engaging section engages the outer portion of the gasket while restricting movement of the gasket when the gasket and the pipes are engaged together.
