Method for manufacturing an image-forming element having a hollow cylindrical drum body with a metallic outer layer and provided on its outer circumferential surface with a plurality of circumferentially extending electrodes which are electrically insulated from one another and from the drum body. The steps include cutting grooves into the metallic outer layer of the drum body, forming an insulating surface layer at least on the internal walls of the grooves by converting the surface of the metallic outer layer into an insulating substance, and filling the grooves with electrically conductive material.

Method for manufacturing an image-forming element

An image-forming element having a hollow cylindrical drum body, a plurality of circumferentially extending electrodes formed on the outer circumferential surface of the drum body, a control unit disposed inside of the drum body, and a contact member for electrically connecting each of the electrodes individually to the control unit. The contact members are arranged in a plurality of rows extending in the axial direction of the body and each of the contact members, when considered from the inner side of the wall of body, has a dimension, considered in the axial direction of the body, which is at least twice the corresponding dimension of an electrode.

Image forming element having accurate connection with the electronic

A magnet system for an image-forming apparatus comprising an image-forming element which is capable of electrically and/or magnetically attracting a toner powder and is movable relative to the magnet system. The magnet system includes a support at least one ferromagnetic body and a clamping device. The support is surrounded by a rotatable sleeve and arranged such that the circumferential surface of the sleeve faces the surface of the image-forming element in a linear image-forming zone extending normal to the direction of movement of the image forming element. The at least one ferromagnetic body has magnets fixed in the support and defines a localized magnetic field in the image-forming zone. The clamping device will engage the ferromagnetic body to secure the body in the support in a non-positive manner, thereby allowing differential thermal expansion of the magnets and the support.
