A method for controlling functions of a vehicle by a remote control unit is provided herein. Signals are transmitted wirelessly between the remote control unit and a station in the vehicle. A data transmission rate depends on a distance between the remote control unit and the station. The data transmission rate is specified. If the data transmission rate is below a defined limit value, the vehicle functions to be controlled are no longer performed or are performed to a restricted extent only and/or the remote control unit emits warning signals.

A system for transferring data from a wireless network of a vehicle includes a first station for covering a first wireless network, which is secured by encryption and a mobile device. The mobile device is configured for connecting to the first wireless network and to a second wireless network. A method for establishing a wireless connection between a first transceiver in a trailer vehicle () having an electronic braking system and at least one second transceiver outside of the trailer vehicle () is disclosed. The first transceiver is assigned to an electronic control unit () in the trailer vehicle (), which is coupled to a tractor vehicle () and a wired connection () exists. In the method, a) a trigger signal is generated in the tractor vehicle () and transmitted the control unit (); b) the first transceiver establishes a preliminary connection to the at least one second transceiver, c) the at least one second transceiver indicates via an output unit the preliminary connection, and d) if conditions are met, a permanent connection between the first transceiver and the second transceiver is established.

A system and method for braking a drawbar trailer having a front axle and one or more further axles, each axle having at least two wheels, includes first sensors which sense the axle load of at least one axle, and second sensors which sense the rotational wheel speeds. Brakes actuatable with a pneumatic brake pressure brake the trailer. Brake signals generated in the towing vehicle are transmitted between the towing vehicle and the trailer. A control unit receives these brake signals and the sensor signals, and determines the axle load. The operating pressure is adapted to the brake pressure which is fed to the brakes. The control unit detects the brake pressure value as a function of (i) the specific axle loads of the front axle and the other axles and (ii) the received brake signals, and actuates the brakes such that the detected brake pressure is made available.

Electronic braking system and method for drawbar trailers

A brake-control module for a first trailer of a tractor-trailer combination reduces braking response time for the second trailer and subsequent trailers in the vehicle train. The brake-control module includes a tractor interface. The tractor interface includes a tractor CAN interface for connecting to a tractor CAN connector of a tractor, a tractor voltage-supply interface for connecting to a tractor voltage-supply connector of the tractor, and a tractor warning-light interface for connecting to a tractor warning-light connector of the tractor. The brake-control module further includes a second-trailer interface for connection of a second trailer that is coupled to the first trailer. The second-trailer interface includes a second-trailer CAN interface for connecting to a second-trailer CAN connector of the second trailer, a second-trailer voltage-supply interface for connecting to a voltage connector of the second trailer, and a second-trailer warning-light interface for connecting to a second-trailer warning-light connector of the second trailer.

Trailer vehicle brake-control module

A display system is provided for a trailer equipped with an electronic braking system (EBS) and/or an anti-lock braking system (ABS). A separate display device having a display is provided for indicating at least the mileage on the trailer vehicle. In order to reduce the amount of wiring required, a speed signal of at least one of the wheels of the trailer is looped through the EBS/ABS and is routed directly to the display device.

A process for braking a vehicle having at least first and second brakes, comprises supplying energy to the first and second brakes so as to actuate them, the energy being distributed between the first and second brakes in accordance with the brakes' response energies. Preferably, the momentary values of the response energies are used so that the first and second brakes are actuated simultaneously. The momentary values of the response energies of the brakes may be determined as follows: (a) measuring the existing vehicle deceleration to determine a value of ground-vehicle deceleration, (b) supplying a braking test energy to the brake being tested, (c) measuring the deceleration of the vehicle after the braking test energy has been supplied to the brake being tested in order to determine a value of vehicle test deceleration, (d) comparing the value of ground-vehicle deceleration with the value of vehicle test deceleration, and (e) if the value of vehicle test deceleration is greater than the value of ground-vehicle deceleration by more than a predetermined tolerance value, repeating steps (a) to (d) with a reduced braking test energy until the difference between the value of vehicle test deceleration and the value of ground-vehicle deceleration is decreased to no more than the predetermined tolerance value, or (f) if the value of vehicle test deceleration is equal to or less than the value of ground-vehicle deceleration, repeating steps (a) to (d) with a higher braking test energy until the value of vehicle test deceleration exceeds the value of ground-vehicle deceleration by a value which is less than or equal to the predetermined tolerance value. The energy supplied to the brakes to actuate them may be in the form of pressure.

Process for actuating first and second brakes of a vehicle simultaneously

A method and system for operating an electrically controlled pressurized-fluid vehicle brake system having a brake cylinder for actuating a brake, a braking-pressure sensor for obtaining braking-pressure data which indicate the braking pressure in the brake cylinder, a valve device for influencing the braking pressure by which the brake cylinder can communicate optionally with a supply pressure or with a set pressure in order to feed pressurized fluid, and a set-pressure sensor for obtaining set-pressure data. Braking pressure is adjusted as dictated by the set-pressure data and/or by the braking-pressure data. The set-pressure data are checked by temporarily switching the pressurized-fluid feed path to the brake cylinder from the supply pressure to the set pressure by actuation of at least one part of the valve device, and then monitoring the resulting braking pressure based on the braking-pressure data.

Method and system for operating an electrically controlled pressurized-fluid brake system

A process to determine the response pressure of a brake in a braking system of a vehicle comprises: measuring the existing vehicle deceleration of the vehicle to determine a value of ground-vehicle deceleration, supplying a test pressure to the brake, measuring the deceleration of the vehicle after the test pressure has been supplied to the brake to determine a value of vehicle test deceleration, and comparing the value of ground-vehicle deceleration and the value of vehicle test deceleration. If the value of vehicle test deceleration is greater than the value of ground-vehicle deceleration by more than a predetermined tolerance value, the steps of the process are repeated with a reduced test pressure until the difference between the values of ground-vehicle deceleration and vehicle test deceleration is no more than the predetermined tolerance value. However, if the value of vehicle test deceleration is equal to or less than the value of ground-vehicle deceleration, the steps of the process are repeated with a higher test pressure until the value of vehicle test deceleration exceeds the value of ground-vehicle deceleration by a value which is less than or equal to the predetermined tolerance value. In this way the response pressure, i.e., the lowest pressure which needs to be supplied to the brake in order to exert a braking force, can be determined.

Process to determine the response pressure of a brake in a vehicle

A process and apparatus for the braking with optimized stability of a vehicle train is disclosed. The vehicle train comprises at least two individual vehicles, one of the individual vehicles supporting the individual vehicle. The process comprises supplying energy to the brakes of the vehicles, thereby actuating the brakes and producing an actual force between the vehicles, and measuring the actual-value horizontal and vertical components (F.sub.hact, F.sub.vact) of the actual force (F.sub.act) acting between the supporting and supported vehicle. A desired-value horizontal force component (F.sub.hdes) of the force is determined by multiplying the actual-value vertical component (F.sub.vact) by the ratio of the actual-value train deceleration (b) to the earth's acceleration (g). The desired-value horizontal force component (F.sub.hdes) is then compared with the actual-value force horizontal component (F.sub.hact). The energy supplied to the brakes is adjusted so that F.sub.hact becomes substantially equal to F.sub.hdes resulting in braking of the vehicle train with optimal stability.
