A lamp unit for a motor vehicle includes a light source, a substantially plano-convex projection lens, and an identification symbol. The projection lens has the configuration of a spherical segment and a central region, and the identification symbol is disposed in the central region of the planar side of the projection lens. The planar side of the lens faces the light source. A method of making a lamp unit for a motor vehicle includes disposing an identification symbol in a central region of a planar side of a substantially plano-convex projection lens of the lamp unit, wherein the planar side of the lens faces a light source.

A ventilated foot rest for a motor vehicle, in particular for a passenger vehicle, has a housing which contains at least one air-inlet opening and at least one air-outlet opening, and which has a foot-depositing board on its upper side. In order to better utilize this foot rest, it is proposed to form a storage space and at least two flow paths which are independent of each other in the housing. A first flow path ventilates the storage space, while a second flow path bypasses the storage space and ventilates the foot-depositing board.

A baby diaper-changing pad suitable for use in a passenger motor vehicle having at least two rows of seats has a roll-up mat of an elastic material which has at two opposite ends straps and/or loops by which the mat can be affixed to two head supports of two seats of the vehicle disposed one behind the other in the direction of travel. A soft baby pad is provided on the inner side between the ends with the straps and/or loops. The arrangement of the baby pad on the mat and the dimensions of the mat and of its straps and/or loops are chosen such that, when the mat is affixed to the head supports, it rests in that area with its exterior on a seat surface of the rear seat in the direction of travel in which the baby pad is disposed on the inner side of the mat.

An arrangement is provided for securing objects against a sliding in a cargo space of a motor vehicle. Supporting elements are arranged perpendicularly to the cargo space floor and can be adjusted relative to the cargo space floor between a lifted active position and a lowered passive position. A cargo plate extends in parallel to the cargo space floor and has openings which can each be penetrated by a supporting element. The cargo plate is further developed such that the loading of the cargo space can take place in a normal manner and a securing of the objects can be ensured during the transport. A lifting device causes a relative movement between the cargo plate and the supporting elements which extends perpendicularly to the cargo space floor. In a loading position, the ends facing the cargo space of the supporting elements situated in their active position end flatly with the top side of the cargo plate and, in a securing position, the supporting elements, in their active position, extend through the opening in each case assigned to them into the cargo space and in each case being lowerable into their passive position.

A passenger compartment of a vehicle body has a protective device that protects the vehicle occupants in a side collision. The protective device being integrated into each vehicle door, each vehicle seat, and into the center console fastened to the body floor and including reinforcing elements extending transversely to the lengthwise axis of the compartment. Impact plates are located between the elements, all of which elements lie in a horizontal plane and abut one another by the impact plates in the event of a side collision. The protective device is configured so that as soon as the lateral deformation of the passenger compartment begins in a crash, the reinforcing elements form a continuous cross member for accepting the force. At least one of the reinforcing elements that abut one another transversely to the lengthwise axis of the compartment in a side collision is designed so that it can be increased to a maximum length, in such fashion that all the gaps that exist between the reinforcing elements and the impact plates in the pre-collision state of the passenger compartment disappear. An actuator that can be actuated in the event of a collision adjusts the at least one reinforcing element to this maximum length.

A device for ventilating a side window of a motor vehicle, especially an automobile, has an air guide channel that is located in a vehicle door or other side component that contains the side window near a lower area of the side window. Air outlets of the guide channel are directed at the side window and are located in an area that faces the inside window. The ventilating device is made, especially in areas visible to vehicle occupants, in a suitable visual design. The air guide channel is formed in a separate channel part that is mounted on the vehicle side component and which contains air outlets that terminate in the vicinity of a gap formed between the vehicle side component and the side window.

A sun screen of a motor vehicle is swivellable at least about an axis extending essentially transversely with respect to a windshield of the motor vehicle between a first end position, in which the sun screen extends parallel to a vehicle roof, and a second end position, in which the sun screen extends parallel to the windshield. Such a sun screen has ventilation openings through which an exchange of air can take place between an occupant interior and an interior of the sun screen which can be connected to an air conditioner of the motor vehicle. A recess is provided in a roof-side exterior side of the sun screen and communicates with the interior of the sun screen. A connection opening of the air conditioner is arranged in the vehicle interior in the vehicle roof. The sun screen is positionable in its first end position on the vehicle roof so that the connection opening and the recess of the sun screen cover one another.

The invention relates to an instrument cluster with a surround located in front of the display field, the front surface of the instrument cluster conforming to a predetermined path of an instrument panel. The surround is an independent component releasably fastenable to an instrument cluster, with the back surface of the surround facing the front surface of the instrument panel and running parallel to the front surface of the instrument cluster, and with the front surface of the surround that faces away from the instrument cluster following a path that conforms to the path of the instrument panel in the vicinity of the respective driver's seat. A surround is used for a vehicle with left-hand drive, with the front surface of the surround conforming to the path of the instrument panel, and with another surround being used for a vehicle with right-hand drive, whose front surface conforms to the path of the instrument panel in the vicinity of the right-hand driver's seat.

In a vehicle door with a basic body in the form of a body-in-white that includes the exterior sheet metal, internal trim, and a partial area within this interior trim with functional parts that are visible and/or operable from the vehicle interior, the partial area must be installed with high dimensional accuracy. For this purpose, the partial area is formed by an insert part that is permanently attached to the body-in-white and the interior trim, is separate from, and has a reinforcing effect relative to the remaining area of the door interior trim.

A steering wheel for a motor vehicle has a steering wheel rim which is closed on all sides and which is connected with a central steering wheel hub by way of radially projecting spokes. The steering wheel rim includes sections which are connected with one another in the cross-section, one forming a decorative section which has a different material at least on the exterior side. In the gripping area of the steering wheel rim which is predominantly gripped by the hands in the driving operation, the decorative section is reduced in its grippable width by the pulled-around other rim section.
