The present invention relates to a projectile including a projectile charge consisting of a plurality of submunitions ( ), arranged in a shell jacket, of metal bodies ( ) which contain at least one pyrotechnical active mass ( ) and at least one igniter charge ( ), wherein the submunitions ( ) are arranged around a tube ( ), the lumen ( ) of which forms a passage in the direction of the projectile's longitudinal axis ( ), an ejector charge for ejecting the submunitions ( ) following launch of the projectile after reaching the target area, the tube ( ) including throttle bores ( ) directly communicating with the igniter charges ( ) of the respective submunitions ( ).

Projectile

A smoke-generating projectile has a decomposable effective mass, the mass including a quick-burning deception component for generating spontaneous smoke, and a slow-burning concealment component for generating persistent smoke. The projectile includes an igniter, an ejection charge and/or ignition decomposition charge and at least one ignition delay device. The projectile is constructed so that the energy of decomposition of at least one of the effective mass components is constrained in a radial direction. The ejection charge and/or the ignition decomposition charge, as well as at least one ignition delay device, is installed in the effective mass.

Projectile with controlled decomposition and integrated charge in the area of the effective mass

A projectile includes a pyrotechnical detonation chain arranged to be ignited in response to a launching of the projectile. The chain includes two successive spaced-apart portions that are spaced apart to prevent ignition from being transferred therebetween. One of the portions is movable into contact with the other. A holder imposes a yieldable retaining force (e.g., friction, or shear pin) against the movable portion. That force can be overcome by momentum of the movable portion when the projectile strikes a target, whereupon the movable portion moves into contact with, and ignites, the other portion.

Pyrotechnical impact detonator

The invention relates to a sub-ammunition object for vapor generation for a spinstabilized carrier projectile with axial sub-ammunition discharge, consisting of a stackable, flat, disk-shaped, stamped part of identical caliber, which, at a height/width ratio of about 1:1.5 to 1:5, contains red phosphorus as the primary active substance and is designed to retain its structural and form stability during firing, discharge, and stacking as a result of fibers embedded in the active substance and/or a shell, with the combustion time being chemically and/or physically adjustable through the height, compression pressure and/or composition of the active substance. It is preferred that the active substance be located in a container with at least one blower aperture and one oxygen donor as the energy supply needed for combustion of the red phosphorus in the container.

Sub-ammunition object for vapor generation

An explosive projectile carrying an active charge is to be launched from a barrel. Detonation of the charge requires that a firing pin be driven to a firing position where it impacts a percussion cap. The firing pin is held in a safety position by a barrel probe which is movable to an armed position in a direction perpendicularly to the launch direction. Prior to launching, the barrel probe is held immovable by engagement with both the launch barrel and an acceleration sensor. When the projectile leaves the barrel and acceleration displaces the acceleration sensor, the barrel probe is free to move to its armed position. Also provided are a pretensioned spring, and a pyrotechnical delay element for generating propulsion gas. Either the spring or the delay element functions to move the firing pin to its firing position, and the other of the spring and delay element moves the barrel probe to its armed position.

Safety mechanism for preventive premature detonation of an explosive

Protective device for protection of rapidly moving objects such as aircraft or the like against homing heads that react to radiation, in particular infrared radiation, emitted by the aircraft, and that have a destructive charge. The protective device has at least one dispenser arranged on the object to be protected, and at least one effective body (flare), such as a spot flare or the like, that can be launched therefrom. The effective body has at least one decoy charge that can be at least partially ignited at a distance from the object and which, upon decomposition, temporarily forms an apparent target body that spectrally simulates, in a way relevant to the homing head, the target signature of the object to be protected. The effective body (flare) has at least one mooring line that unfolds from a dispenser upon launching of the effective body (flare) and that can be connected with the dispenser at one free end, whose end facing away from its free end is essentially permanently connected to the effective body (flare).

Protective means for fast-moving objects

A rapid-release smoke hand grenade comprising a manually actuatable igniter head (A) and an active mass member (B), wherein the striker located on the igniter head to initiate the chain of pyrotechnical activity is loaded by means of a safety clip so as to be safe to handle, the smoke-forming means located in the active mass member is in the form of combustible disc-shaped or disc sector-shaped thin leaves (flares) coated with smoke-forming agent based on red phosphorus which practically fill the canister of the active mass member around a capsule for the ignition/bursting unit located therein, the heavy components of this rapid-release smoke hand grenade are held together by connecting elements which are stable when it bursts, and the essential components of the grenade preferably consist of aluminium. In a likewise preferred embodiment the ignition/bursting charge of the ignition/bursting unit consists of a classical detonating charge of aluminium and potassium perchlorate in order to minimise the combustion gases evolved when it reacts.

Rapid-release smoke hand grenade

A smoke screen shell is provided having a rapidly burning decoy charge that generates a spontaneous fog and a slowly burning camouflage charge that generates a lasting fog. The decoy charge and camouflage charge are fired from a canister sleeve by an ejection charge. Upon firing, pressure from the ejection charge is communicated through a channel to a relief chamber positioned between the decoy charge and the camouflage charge. This results in an accelleration difference, causing a separation and slightly different trajectories, the decoy component accelerating at a higher rate. The decoy charge takes effect in the air prior to the camouflage charge. The collocation of the spontaneous fog and of the lasting fog essentially occurs in the target. The decoy charge and the camouflage charge land within a proximity at a target area such that a collocation occurs between the spontaneous fog and of the delayed lasting fog. The ignition and relief chambers, the channel therebetween, the charges, etc. are dimensioned and configured to assure the desired proximal collocation without a mechanical connection between the camouflage charge and the decoy charge.

Dual-charge smoke screen shell

A circuit arrangement is provided for firing dummy target sub-members from a cartridge barrel in a freely selectable chronological sequence by igniting ejection charges respectively permanently connected via an electrical ignitor to an ignition circuit and to a respective sub-munition. The ignition circuit--in the condition of the cartridge when it is loaded with sub-munitions arranged above one another--has switch-connection modules, each of which is respectively connected to a sub-munition to provide a series connection. A switch/connection module is a component part of a sub-munition unit to be fired which also has an electrical ignitor, an ejection charge and a sub-munition. The ignition circuit, due to the pluggability of the sub-munition units of the switch/connection modules, can be matched to the respective loading condition of the cartridge such that the ignition circuit automatically forwards an ignition pulse supplied to the cartridge to the ignitor of the respectively uppermost sub-munition unit arranged closest to the mouth of the cartridge.

An arrangement to prevent a premature ignition of an active charge, which is to be ignited by means of an adjustable time-delay fuse and is provided for a projectile that is expended from a firing barrel by means of a charge, includes both a mechanical and a pyrotechnical safety element. The ignition path between a first delay element that can be ignited while firing and the active charge of the projectile can be blocked by a barrel probe movable at right angles to the firing direction, and in its position blocking the ignition path can be arrested by an acceleration probe movable counter to the firing direction and, as long as the projectile is located in the firing barrel, by the firing barrel wall. A second delay element which can also be ignited while firing and exhibits a shorter delay period than the first delay element pressurizes the barrel probe with gas pressure in the direction of its end safety position following expiration of its delay period.

An exercise firing projectile containing a plurality of pyrotechnic fragmentation devices are expelled from the projectile casing above the target area by an ejection charge, and delay tubes of the fragmentation devices are ignited at the same time by this charge through a central igniter tube contained within the projectile. The active charge of the devices consist of a grainy composite with quick reaction time.
