A metal solution-diffusion membrane of a macroporous base on which a thin metal membrane layer is formed is disclosed. In the membrane, the base includes a hollow fiber with a metal material containing an intermediate layer being formed between the hollow fiber and the metal membrane layer. The metal solution-diffusion membrane can be made with a very thin metal membrane layer with high permeability and possesses long-term stability as well as a great separation surface/volume ratio. A method for producing a metal solution-diffusion membrane in which the intermediate layer serves to provide nuclei for the subsequent currentless deposition of the metal layer is also disclosed.

Metal solution-diffusion membrane and method for producing the same

The invention relates to a method for producing a hollow fiber membrane module or a capillary membrane module as well as a device having such a module. In the method, hollow fibers or capillaries are placed, in an unsintered state, in a mold structured for receiving the hollow fibers or capillaries and are sintered once inside the mold. Subsequently or simultaneously, the fibers are potted in the mold. The method permits producing hollow fiber membrane modules or capillary membrane modules in a simple manner with little risk of breakage.

The invention relates to the area of ceramics and to a ceramic flat membrane which is configured as a multi-channel element. The aim of the invention is to provide a ceramic flat membrane with a larger effective membrane surface. To this end, the inventive ceramic flat membrane consists of at least two layers of at least two sub-layers of different porosity, at least one of these layers having a non-planar geometry. The two layers are joined to each other with at least spot joins and integral joins. The invention also provides a method for producing a flat membrane of this type. According to this method, suspensions are produced from at least two ceramic powders of different particle size. Two sub-layers are formed from the suspensions, then dried and joined to form one layer. At least one layer which is embossed and sintered, or unsintered is joined to a non-embossed, similarly embossed, differently embossed or differently structured, sintered or unsintered layer with at least spot joins and integral joins to form a flat membrane.

Ceramic flat membrane and method for producing the same

The present invention relates to an air humidifier and to a method for humidifying air, the use of special devices enabling air to be humidified with sterile water. A large contact area between water and air is combined with low losses of flow pressure. A membrane contactor having at least one tube membrane embedded in a hydrophilic, porous body comprises the air humidifier. The present invention enables use of coarse filters to ensure that the water is dispersed over a large surface area.

An apparatus for the high-frequency artificial respiration of living animals or human beings has a flexible endotracheal tube for introduction into the trachea thereof. The flexible endotracheal tube has an outlet end, a valve at the outlet end and control and air supplies along the endotracheal tube to the valve. The control operates the valve to produce steep-flanked respiratory-air pulses. The valve can serve simultaneously for removing used air through a conventional endotracheal tube as a sleeve about the other endotracheal tube.
