Mechanism for selecting and controlling needles of circular knitting machine wherein, at each feed of the knitting machine, there is provided a cam path in which is engageable an outwardly projecting butt on an axially reciprocable needle to reciprocate the needle. An activating swing jack is pivoted to the bottom of the needles and a selector jack is pivoted to the unit and is operatively associated with the activating swing jack. A selector butt and a complementary eraser butt on the selector jack are respectively positively engaged by a selector lever and an eraser lever, the selector lever moving the jacks and hence the needles whereby the needle butts engage in the cam path while the eraser lever move the jacks and hence the needles, whereby the needle butts are disengaged from the cam path, respectively to bring the needle into its operative and inoperative condition. The selector and eraser levers cooperate with the selector and eraser butts of the selector jack over the entire length of the feed.

Selection mechanism of circular knitting-machine

A circular knitting machine has needle beds; a cylinder and a dial, and means to drive the cylinder and dial including three assemblies symmetrically arranged about three planes which intersect on a line substantially coincident with the machine axis, the assemblies thereby acting to center the cylinder and dial. It is preferred for the assemblies to include shafts and intermediate gears connecting the shafts to crown gears on the cylinder and dial, and for the cylinder to be axially adjustable by means in each assembly relative to the dial.

Device for driving needle beds in a circular knitting machine

The circular knitting machine comprises at least one sinking cam and one movable cam enabling a selection of knitting elements to occupy several positions. The sinking cam is rotatably biased into a working position in which its working ramp cooperates with the butts of the knitting elements selected for knitting and can be moved to a rest position in which the working ramp cooperates with the knitting elements which are welting. The sinking cam is held in its rest position by a surface thereon which engageingly cooperates with a locking means on the movable cam when the movable cam is in a position to cause the knitting elements to welt.

Interlocking cams

A circular knitting machine has a rotary wind up apparatus with at least two rollers mounted in a rotatable frame. Means to rotate the wind up apparatus extend within the knitted tube to act on the rollers, and preferably comprises a blade of low friction material.
