A slide cam unit with a cam region is provided with an adjusting device having an actuator for adjusting the slide cam unit to different axial positions via slide grooves on the circumference of the slide cam unit. The adjusting device is arranged in a stationary manner and a device for fastening the slide cam unit in the different axial positions is provided. The cam region and the slide groove region of the slide cam unit are designed as separate cam and slide groove components which are fastened to each other with a positive-fit connection and fixed in place to each other by their support on the base shaft.

Constructed slide cam unit

The invention concerns a switchable lever () for a valve train of an internal combustion engine, said lever () comprising on one end (), a bearing () for enabling a pivotal support of said lever () and, on another end (), a support () for a gas exchange valve, a crossbar () of the lever () comprising a recess () comprising two cam rollers () which are seated on an axle () mounted in bores () of side walls () of the lever () and displaceable in axial direction, a hollow axle () arranged on said axle () extending inwards out of the bore () of the first side wall (), a first one of the cam rollers () being guided, axially fixed on said hollow axle () in front of an inner side () of the first side wall (), said first cam roller () serving for a permanent contact of a first low lift cam () of a cam assembly (), a second one of the cam rollers () being axially fixed on said axle () and being displaceable by said axle () into two positions, a first one of said positions serving to switch to a high valve lift during which the second cam roller () can be displaced through said axle () into a central position in the recess (), so that a contact of a high lift cam () of the cam assembly () is enabled, a second one of said positions serving to switch off the high valve lift during which the second cam roller () can be displaced through the axle () into a position in front of the second side wall (), so that a contact of a further low lift cam () of the cam assembly () is enabled.

Switchable lever for a valve drive of an internal combustion engine

A switchable cam follower () of a valve train of an internal combustion engine is proposed, having an inner lever and an outer lever (), wherein the levers () can be connected to one another via coupling means () and run on a common pin () such that they can be moved pivotably relative to one another, which pin () is projected around by at least one group of turns () of a swivel pin spring () as cam restoring spring, wherein a first limb () which protrudes from an end side () of the group of turns () acts on a first clamping point () of the outer lever () and a second limb () which protrudes from another end side () of the group of turns () acts on a second clamping point () of the inner lever (), in the rotational direction in such a way that the levers () are present such that they are stressed towards one another, wherein the pin () runs in a 'floating' manner with respect to the holes (), wherein the group of turns () comprises a bush () with play, wherein axial fixing of the pin () is produced via the offset contact of the group of turns () on the bush (), which offset contact is brought about by the system stressing, and therefore the offset contact of said bush () on the pin (), and wherein, in order to reduce a resulting contact force (FR) in the region of the contact of the group of turns () on the bush (), the clamping points () of the two limbs () of the group of turns () are positioned in such a way that an angle (&#x3b1;) which is enclosed by intersecting force vectors at the clamping points () [direction of action of the two contact forces (F, F)] lies in the range (90&#xb0;&#x3c;&#x3b1;&#x3c;180&#xb0;).

Switchable cam follower

An arrangement for coupling two components of an internal combustion engine that are arranged movable relative to each other is provided, in particular, for switching multi-stage valve drives, with at least one coupling element () arranged to be movable in one of the components for coupling with the other component to be coupled. Here, at the contact point between the coupling element () and the component to be coupled, a force acting on the coupling element () during coupling is introduced at an angle relative to the coupling direction () of the coupling element ().

Arrangement for coupling two components of an internal combustion engine arranged movable relative to each other

A switchable cup tappet for a valve timing mechanism of an internal combustion engine, which has a cup basic body with an annular base loaded by large-lift cams. A hollow-cylindrical projection protrudes from an inner edge of the base and an inner body extends in the hole of the projection. The disc-like base is contacted by a small-lift cam. In a hole of the inner body two coupler pistons are coupled in sections with a driver surface of the cup basic body for a large valve stroke. The small stroke occurs by complete displacement into the radial hole. An annular web, spaced from its end faces at both ends, is attached integrally, in which the radial hole extends with the coupler pistons. The driver surface for the pistons is formed by a lower edge of the projection, which is spaced from the bases.

Switchable cup tappet

A switchable bucket tappet for a valve drive of an internal combustion engine, which has a bucket basic body with a ring-like base. A hollow-cylindrical projection protrudes from an inner edge of the base, and in the bore of the projection an inner body extends. Two coupler pistons lie opposite one another and, to achieve full valve stroke, engage in sections with a driver surface of the bucket basic body which run in a radial hole of the inner body. A zero valve stroke is achieved when the coupler piston is displaced completely into the radial hole of the inner body, which is baseless and free of contact with a cam. The projection has a window-like aperture, with the underside acting as the driver surface for an upper side of the coupler piston during coupling. The region of the base is an approximately symmetrical and continuously thin-walled formation.

The invention proposes a switchable tappet () of a valve train of an internal combustion engine, said tappet comprising a hollow cylindrical housing () comprising a bottom (), an inner element () being guided for relative axial displacement in a bore () of the housing (), an at least indirect support for a gas exchange valve extending on a cam-distal front end () of the inner element (), two diametrically opposing pistons as coupling elements () being arranged in a radial bore () of the inner element (), which coupling elements (), for effecting coupling [full valve lift], can be displaced partly beyond a parting surface () between the housing () and the inner element () into an entraining surface () of the housing () by the force of a compression spring () clamped between inner front ends () of the coupling elements (), wherein the entraining surface () is an direct constituent of a separate annular member () that is fixed in a cam-distal region of the bore () of the housing (), wherein only one compression spring as a lost motion spring means () extends in a cylindrical hollow space () formed between an underside () of the bottom () of the housing () and a cam-side flat front end () of the inner element (), and wherein the inner element () is substantially disk-shaped and the parting surface () between the housing () and the inner element () does not comprise any vertical stop means.

Switchable tappet

A cam follower (,) designed to be switchable between different lifts for at least one gas-exchange valve and includes two adjacent sections (,) which can be coupled together via a coupling element (,). The coupling element (,) cooperates with a shutoff slide (,). It is a special feature of the shut-off slide (,) that it is produced as a mechanically closable and openable piston for an inlet (,) in a pressure chamber (,) in front of the coupling means (,), the piston, however, being maintainable hydraulically in its open position via high switching pressure. At the same time, the shutoff slide (,) is completely incorporated in the cam follower (,) and does not extend beyond it. As a result, undesired fluctuations in the pressure of the hydraulic fluid can no longer act on the coupling means (,) during the base circle of the cams acting on the cam follower (,) and an intended turned-off state. At the same time, displacement of these coupling means (,) in their coupling direction is only possible if a sufficiently high pressure of the hydraulic fluid is available for such movement. Otherwise, the shutoff means (,), via the force of a pressing means (,), will close the inlet (,) for hydraulic fluid.
