Described herein is an aqueous, chromium-free composition for a pretreatment of aluminum surfaces, which includes at least one water-soluble phosphorus compound, at least one water-soluble zirconium compound, at least one water-soluble titanium compound, and at least one water-soluble molybdenum compound, a phosphorus compound content being in a range from 15 to 50 mg/l (calculated as phosphorus), a zirconium compound content being in a range from 400 to 600 mg/l (calculated as metal), a titanium compound content being in a range from 85 to 400 mg/l (calculated as metal), and a molybdenum compound content being in a range from 40 to 150 mg/l (calculated as metal). Also described herein are a corresponding method and a correspondingly pretreated component or strip.

The invention relates to a method for coating a metallic strip. The strip or optionally, the strip sections produced from said strip in the subsequent process, is/are first coated with at least one anticorrosion layer&#x2014;according to an alternative form of embodiment, this can be left out&#x2014;and then with at least one layer of a paint-like coating containing polymers. After being coated with at least one anticorrosion layer or after being coated with at least one layer of a paint-like coating, the strip is divided into strip sections. The coated strip sections are then formed, joined and/or coated with at least one (other) paint-like coating and/or paint coating. The paint-like coating is formed by coating the surface with an aqueous dispersion containing the following in addition to water: a) at least one organic film former containing at least one water-soluble or water-dispersed polymer with an acid value of 5 to 200; b) at least one inorganic compound in particle form with an average particle diameter measured on a scanning electron microscope of 0.005 to 0.3 &#x3bc;m; and c) at least one lubricant and/or at least one corrosion inhibitor. The metallic surface that is optionally coated with at least one anticorrosion layer is brought into contact with the aqueous composition and a film containing particles is formed on the metallic surface, this film then being dried and optionally also hardened, the dried and optionally, also hardened film having a layer thickness of 0.01 to 10 &#x3bc;m. The invention also relates to a corresponding aqueous composition.

The invention relates to a method for coating metallic surfaces by wetting one such surface with an aqueous dispersion containing, in addition to water, at least one UV-cross-linkable, water-soluble and/or water-dispersible resin, at least one wax as a deforming additive, at least one photoinitiator and at least one corrosion inhibitor. The coating is dried and hardened after being formed on the metallic surface. The invention is characterised in that the coating that is formed is up to 10 &#x3bc;m thick when hard, and in that during a condensation water test according to DIN 50017 KFW carried out directly after over 240 hours, said coating shows no signs of corrosion &#x3e;5% on a test surface having been deformed by a mandrel with a diameter of 3.2 mm to 38 mm during a mandrel bending test according to DIN ISO 6860 without cracking the test surface.

The invention relates to a method for coating a metal surface with an aqueous composition, characterized in that the composition contains, in addition to water: a) at least one organic film former that contains at least one water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer with an acid number ranging from 5 to 200, b) at least one particulate inorganic compound with an average particle diameter measured by a scanning electron microscope in the range of from 0.005 to 0.3&#x3bc;, c) at least one slip additive and/or at least one corrosion inhibitor, d) optionally at least one organic solvent, e) optionally at least one silane and/or siloxane, f) optionally at least one cross-linking agent, and g) optionally at least one chromium (VI) compound. The clean metal surface is contacted with the aqueous composition and a particle-containing film is formed on the metal surface which is then dried. The dried and optionally also cured film has a layer thickness ranging from 0.01 to 10 &#x3bc;m. The invention further relates to a corresponding aqueous composition.
