A gas bag module has a generally cylindrical gas generator, at least one igniter and a housing to which the gas generator is secured. The igniter extends radially out of the gas generator and is secured to the housing. A gas bag is arranged in the housing and is clamped between the gas generator and the housing.

The invention relates to a method of producing a vehicle interior lining, especially a dashboard having a carrier part and, attached to the carrier part, a gas bag module containing a gas bag carrier and a gas bag that has a folded package section. The gas bag, together with its package section, is placed into a gas bag receptacle that is formed on the gas bag carrier and that has an outlet opening for the gas bag. The outlet opening is at least partially closed in the area of the package section by a rigid part. An outside surface of the carrier part is foam-encapsulated with a plastic layer in a state in which the gas bag module is connected to the carrier part. Moreover, the invention relates to a vehicle interior lining.

A method of folding a gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system is disclosed, this gas bag having a wall delimiting a chamber and having an inflation opening, the inflation opening having a rim. The method comprises the following steps: First, the gas bag is spread out on a base. Then, the rim of the inflation opening of the gas bag is held fixed. Thereafter, a plate is arranged parallel to the base and at a distance therefrom, so that the gas bag extends between the base and the plate. Subsequently, the chamber of the gas bag is exposed to a pressurized medium, so that the gas bag unfolds between the base and the plate. Finally, the wall of the gas bag is pressed inwards at a plurality of sites distributed over a circumference of the gas bag. Further, a gas bag folded by performing this method and a device for performing the method are disclosed.

An assembly consists of a first component and of a second component. The first component is provided with at least one opening and with at least one holding projection which is associated with the opening The second component consists of sheet metal and is provided with at least one holding tongue which has a cross-piece and a head. A gas bag for a vehicular occupant restraint system comprises two plies of fabric partially interwoven along their outer edges. To offer protection over a lengthy period in time amounting to several seconds but nevertheless dissipate the energy of impact to the required degree on impact and cushioning of the occupant, the plies of fabric are substantially air-tight, and the volume of the gas bag is divided by partial interweaving of the plies of fabric within the outer edges into several chambers. The ejection channel is constructed as a box-shaped separate part with a flange. The pressure chamber housing has a counter flange. Further the invention relates to a method for assembling parts of an air bag module to each other for shipping purposes and for installation into a vehicle.

A gas bag restraint system for vehicle occupants, comprises a gas bag with an interior having a first and a second chamber. The gas bag has an outer wall delimiting the interior of the gas bag and at least one dividing wall in the interior for separating the first and the second chambers in a fully inflated state of the gas bag. The dividing wall is gas-permeable at least during fully inflating of the gas bag to reach a fully inflated state of the gas bag.
