A method for manufacturing a coated lens by applying at least one single electromagnetic pulse to convert a coating precursor material into at least one coating. The electromagnetic pulse is delivered to the coating precursor material applied on a surface of an uncoated or precoated optical lens substrate. The at least one single electromagnetic pulse is applied from an electromagnetic source such as a flash lamp, a halogen lamp, a directed plasma arc, a laser, a microwave generator, an induction heater, an electron beam, a stroboscope, or a mercury lamp.

Method for manufacturing a coated lens

A spectacle lens includes at least one substrate and at least one photochromic layer. The spectacle lens exhibits no swelling of the coating and/or of the substrate in the event of at least one damage to the surface of the spectacle lens with a force of ≤65 m N after contamination of the surface of the spectacle lens with at least one organic acid over a period from a range of 12 hours to 84 hours. Further, a method for producing the spectacle lens and the use of at least one chemically modified layer and/or at least one barrier layer for coating a spectacle lens substrate is disclosed.

Optical element having a coating of high diffusivity

An optical component having an anti-fog coating obtainable by covalent attachment of a silane having the formula (1): RXSiAto the surface of the optical component. An apparatus and a method for molding optical lenses are disclosed.
