Plastisols comprising a finely divided vinyl chloride polymer and the usual fillers, additives, and plasticizers, to which plastisols is added, as an adhesion promoter, an adduct formed between an epoxy compound and the condensation product formed between (1) a polyaminoamide, comprising polymerized fatty acids and an excess of a polyalkylene polyamine and (2) a carboxylic acid or an ester thereof, and methods for coating or adhering a substrate with such plastisols by applying said plastisols to the substrate and baking at temperatures of 90.degree. C. and up.

What are disclosed are plastisols comprising a finely divided vinyl chloride polymer and the usual fillers, additives, and plasticizers, to which plastisols is added, as an adhesion promoter, the condensation product formed between (1) a polyaminoamide, comprising polymerized fatty acids and an excess of a polyalkylene polyamine and (2) a carboxylic acid or an ester thereof, and methods for coating or adhering a substrate with such plastisols by applying said plastisols to the substrate and baking at temperatures of 90.degree. What are disclosed are a method for the bonding of metallic materials and for producing coatings on metallic materials with a polyvinyl chloride plastisol which has improved adhesion at baking temperatures of 90.degree. C. and up and which contains, as an adhesion-improving additive, a condensation product of a polymerized fatty acid, a polycarboxylic acid having three or more COOH groups, an optional dicarboxylic acid, and an excess based on the carboxyl groups of the acid components, of a polyalkylene polyamine, and plastisols suitable for such a process.

What is disclosed are a method for protectively coating a substrate which comprises applying to said substrate a coating of a plastisol containing a vinyl chloride polymer and then baking the coating at a temperature from 120.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C., said plastisol further comprising from about 0.1 to about 4.0 percent, by weight of said plastisol, of a Schiff base containing from 0.05 to 1.0 azomethine groups per 100 grams of compound and further containing a uretidine dione or isocyanurate group in the molecule and a plastisol such as is used in this method.

What is disclosed are a method for coating or adhering a substrate material which comprises applying to said substrate material a plastisol composition comprising a polymer of vinyl chloride and then baking the composition onto the substrate material at a temperature between about 100.degree. C. and 200.degree. C., said plastisol composition further comprising from 0.05 to 5 percent, by weight of said plastisol composition, of an adhesion improver which is a compound or compounds having an azomethine group and a silane group and plastisol compositions for practising such a method.

In a method for coating metal by applying a polyvinyl chloride plastisol to the metal and baking the resultant coating, the improvement wherein the plastisol contains an adhesion improver which is an adduct formed between an isocyanate and a Schiff base (ketimine). What is disclosed is an adhesion improved plastisol composition adaptable to use as a coating material or adhesive and comprising a finely-divided vinyl chloride polymer together with a plasticizer and filler and an adhesion improver which is (1) a condensation product formed between a polymerized fatty acid mixture having a content, X, measured in weight percent of said mixture, of tripolymeric and higher polymeric fatty acids and excess polyalkylene polyamine; (2) a product formed by reacting said condensation product (1) with an aldehyde or ketone; or (3) an adduct formed between said condensation product (1) and an epoxy compound; said adhesion improver (1), (2), or (3) having a content, Y, of imidazoline groups, expressed as a percent by weight of condensation product (1), such that the values of both X and Y are at least 40, or if the value of either X or Y is below 40 then the other value is at least 40+Z, where Z is the difference between 40 and the smaller value.
