Use of water-insoluble organic nitrites and/or nitrates as additives for electrodeposition coating compositions, and process for the production of an electrodeposition lacquer with improved adhesion for subsequent coats in which one or more water-insoluble organic nitrites and/or nitrates is added to the electrodeposition coating composition and the coating film obtained by electrodeposition is stoved in an indirectly heated circulating air oven.

Electro-dip coating method

Cathodic electrodeposition coating compositions containing, in addition to conventional self-cross-linking or external cross-linking film-forming binders as well as optionally cross-linking agents, pigments, extenders, additives conventionally used in coating agents and solvents, from 0.1 to 5 wt-%, based on the resin solids content of the coating compositions, of one or more sulphonamides, when coated on a galvanized surface, produce coatings that are substantially free of pinholes.

Cathodic electrodeposition coating compositions and process for using same

1 Process for producing a catalyst paste for cathodically separable electrophoretic dipping lacquers. 2.1 Use was made of dibutyltin oxide by way of a catalyst paste for electrophoretic dipping lacquers, dispersed in pasting binders. An object is to provide a new process for producing such catalyst pastes while saving time and energy. 2.2 A process is provided for producing a catalyst paste for cathodically separable electrophoretic dipping lacquers, wherein the dibutyltin oxide is first pre-dispersed with an organic solvent and an organic acid such as is commonly used for neutralizing cathodically separable electrophoretic dipping lacquers, whereupon it is dispersed with the pasting binder and water and ground. 2.3 Cathodic electrophoretic dip lacquering making use of catalyst pastes containing dibutyltin oxide.
