A dielectric barrier discharge (DBD-) lamp () comprising a discharge volume () which is delimited by a first and a second wall () is disclosed, wherein both walls () are exposed to different electrical potentials by means of a power supply () for exciting a gas discharge within the discharge volume (). By providing at least one electrically conductive ignition aid or igniter which extends within the discharge volume () and which electrically contacts the first and the second wall () with each other, a significant reduction of the initial ignition voltage of the lamp () can be obtained, especially after long pauses of operation of the lamp ().

Dielectric barrier discharge lamp

It is provided a dielectric barrier discharge lamp () for providing ultraviolet light, comprising an outer tube () filled with a discharge gas for providing ultraviolet light, an inner tube () arranged at least partially inside the outer tube (), an outer electrode () electrically connected to the outer tube () and an inner electrode () electrically connected to the inner tube (), wherein the inner electrode () comprises a conductor () and a plurality of an conductive granulated material () for providing an electrical contact between the conductor () and the inner tube (). Due to the conductive granulated material () an electrical contact between the conductor () and the inner tube () is safeguarded and different thermal expansions of the inner electrode () and the inner tube () are compensated at the same time without applying mechanical stress to the inner tube (). This leads to a dielectric barrier discharge lamp (), which comprises an increased life time without the need for external cooling.

The subject of the present invention is a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD-) lamp () for generating and emitting ultraviolet radiation comprising: &#x2014;a housed discharge gap (), whereby the housing has at least two walls, whereby at least one of the walls is a dielectric wall and at least one of the walls has an at least partly transparent part, a filling located inside the discharge gap (), at least two electrical contacting means for electrical contacting associated with at least the two walls, respectively, whereby the discharge gap () is formed by at least two discharge sub-volumes () and/or discharge sub-areas () differing in at least one of their discharge parameters for realizing at least two dominant emission regimes and/or one emission regime with different radiant intensities and a method for producing said DBD-lamp ().

Segmented dielectric barrier discharge lamp

The subject of the present invention is a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD-) lamp () for generating and emitting an ultraviolet radiation with ignition aid comprising: a discharge gap () being at least partly formed and/or surrounded by at least an inner wall () and an outer wall (), whereby at least one of the walls () is a dielectric wall and at least one of the walls () has an at least partly transparent part, a filling located inside the discharge gap (), at least two electrical contacting means, a first mean for electrical contacting associated with the outer wall () and a second mean for electrical contacting associated with the inner wall (), whereby at least one multifunctional means () is arranged adjacent to the discharge gap () functioning as guiding aid and as ignition aid.

Dielectric barrier discharge lamp with integrated multifunction means

In a capacitively coupled discharge lamp the electrode comprises a dielectric material that during operation is in contact with the discharge. The impedance of the dielectric material is small and its electron affinity is negative. In this way it is realized that the discharge lamp can be operated efficiently at low frequencies (less than 500 KHz).
