A system for surveying internal pipeline scaling includes a control system, a gauge cutter, a scale recorder, and a wireline. The control system communicates with the scale recorder to obtain scale recorder data and acoustic images. The gauge cutter dislodges scaling debris from an interior wall of the pipeline and includes a fluid permeable screen which collects the dislodged scaling debris. The scale recorder obtains scale recorder data and acoustic images, and includes an ultrasound wave transmitter, an ultrasound wave receiver, a processor, a memory, and a communication interface. The wireline lowers the gauge cutter in the pipeline and is coupled to the control system and the communication interface.

Multipurpose downhole apparatus

A method includes preparing an alkyl-modified graphene oxide, injecting the modified graphene oxide into a well, and inhibiting acid-induced corrosion of a steel surface in the well with the modified graphene oxide. A composition includes an alkyl-modified graphene oxide having one or more alkyl functional group covalently bonded to a graphene core through an oxygen-containing linking group. A method of preparing modified graphene oxide includes mixing graphite powder with an oxidant to provide a mixture, adding the mixture to an acid solution including HSO, HPO, or a combination thereof to provide graphene oxide, and reacting the graphene oxide with an alkyl halide by nucleophilic substitution to provide the alkyl-modified graphene oxide.

Graphene based material for corrosion inhibition

This application relates to systems and methods for stimulating hydrocarbon bearing rock formations using a downhole hybrid tool for discharging a fracturing solution to a wellbore in the formation and for delivering an output laser beams to the rock formation.

Hybrid stimulation tool and related methods

Systems and methods for delivering an injection fluid into a subterranean well include an injection tool having an injection tool body with an internal cavity. A fluid chamber is located within the internal cavity. A heating chamber includes a pipe segment arranged parallel to the central axis. A one way valve provides a fluid flow path for the injection fluids to travel in a downhole direction through the one way valve, and prevents the flow of fluids through the one way valve in an uphole direction. A fiber optic cable extends to the pipe segment, the fiber optic cable operable to deliver a laser radiation to the pipe segment, heating the pipe segment. The injection tool body provides a fluid flow path from the one way valve to an outside of the injection tool.

Laser and chemical system and methods for well stimulation and scale removal

A composition for inhibiting corrosion in hydrocarbon wells includes a pyranopyrazole derivative. The pyranopyrazole derivative includes a pyrazole moiety, a dihydropyran moiety, and a phenyl moiety. The dihydropyran moiety is bound to the pyrazole moiety. The phenyl moiety is bound to the dihydropyran moiety. The composition can be flowed into a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation, thereby inhibiting corrosion in the wellbore.

Inhibiting corrosion in gas wells

A polymeric scale inhibitor composition and a method for inhibiting metal sulfide scale formation in a well are provided. The composition includes 80-82 mol % of a first monomeric unit, where the first monomeric unit is 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS). The composition also includes 2-18 mol % of a second monomeric unit selected from N-vinyl formamide, N-vinyl pyrrolidone, and diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride. The composition further includes 2-18 mol % of a third monomeric unit selected from acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, esters of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with an alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and carboxyethyl acrylate. The polymeric scale inhibitors show superior adsorption characteristics on rocks and their subsequent release behavior allows for scale inhibition over extended time periods respectively at a significant volume of coreflood fluids. They are especially suited for downhole application via field scale squeeze treatments.

Iron sulfide inhibitor suitable for squeeze application

Systems and methods for delivering inhibitor fluid downhole within a subterranean well include an injection tool. The injection tool has an injection tool body that is an elongated member with an interior storage space. An injector valve is moveable between a closed position where the inhibitor fluid located within the interior storage space is prevented from exiting the interior storage space past the injector valve, and an open position where the injector valve provides a fluid flow path for the inhibitor fluid located within the interior storage space to exit the interior storage space through the injector valve. A water sensor is in signal communication with the injector valve. A refill line extends from an inhibitor fluid storage tank to the interior storage space. A support member suspends the injection tool within the subterranean well.

Downhole scale and corrosion mitigation

A methods and compositions for inhibiting iron sulfide scale in an oil production system having a well in a hydrocarbon-bearing formation. The method includes the steps of: supplying an aqueous scale-inhibiting solution comprising a water-soluble metal compound and a scale inhibitor, the water-soluble metal compound comprising a metal selected from the group consisting of lead, zinc, and combinations of the same; and wherein the scale inhibitor comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of phosphino polymers, inorganic polyphosphinates, organic phosphate esters, organic phosphonates, organic aminophosphates, polyphosphonates, polycarboxylates, and combinations of the same; and injecting the aqueous scale-inhibiting solution through the well such that iron sulfide scale is inhibited in the oil production system.
