A sliding nozzle device that can reduce any damage such as surface roughness and chipping in a nozzle hole surroundings of a used plate. The sliding nozzle device includes a fixed metal frame, a sliding metal frame, and an opening and closing metal frame that holds the sliding metal frame in a slidable manner, and in the sliding nozzle device in which sliding contact surfaces of the sliding members provided on the sliding metal frame and the opening and closing metal frame come in slidable contact with each other, the sliding contact surfaces of the sliding member of the sliding metal frame are provided away from each other by a predetermined length front and rear in the sliding direction and a part between the front and rear sliding contact surfaces serves as a depressed part, and the sliding contact surfaces of the sliding member of the opening and closing metal frame are provided away from each other by a predetermined length front and rear in the sliding direction and a part between the front and rear sliding contact surfaces serves as a depressed part.

In an immersion nozzle exchanging apparatus for supporting an immersion nozzle at a flange underside thereof by a plurality of key plates parallel provided on both sides to horizontally pushing out and exchange an immersion nozzle much used with a new immersion nozzle, in order to secure high realability in the joint surface at between the immersion nozzle and the refractory positioned above thereof, the immersion nozzle exchanging apparatus comprises urge pressure providing mechanisms independent of each key plate for continuously changing a deflection amount of a spring body thereof depending on a moving position of the immersion nozzle upon exchanging the immersion nozzle and at the same time changing an immersion nozzle urging force caused on the respective key plates, and a slide frame having a spring body supporting seat surface formed with a taper surface in part thereof. The immersion nozzle to be used therein has a concave surface for holding a seal member having a depth of 1.0&#x2013;10 mm in a joint surface central region. A closing fire plate has a thickness greater than a flange thickness of the immersion nozzle and a difference in thickness of at least 12 mm. Also, a closing fire plate upper surface has both ends perpendicular to a push-out direction recessed over at least a width of 10 mm and a depth of 12 mm.

In an immersion nozzle exchanging apparatus for supporting an immersion nozzle at a flange underside thereof by a plurality of key plates parallel provided on both sides to horizontally pushing out and exchange an immersion nozzle much used with a new immersion nozzle, in order to secure high realability in the joint surface at between the immersion nozzle and the refractory positioned above thereof, the immersion nozzle exchanging apparatus comprises urge pressure providing mechanisms independent of each key plate for continuously changing a deflection amount of a spring body thereof depending on a moving position of the immersion nozzle upon exchanging the immersion nozzle and at the same time changing an immersion nozzle urging force caused on the respective key plates, and a slide frame having a spring body supporting seat surface formed with a taper surface in part thereof. The immersion nozzle to be used therein has a concave surface for holding a seal member having a depth of 1.0-10 mm in a joint surface central region. A closing fire plate has a thickness greater than a flange thickness of the immersion nozzle and a difference in thickness of at least 12 mm. Also, a closing fire plate upper surface has both ends perpendicular to a push-out direction recessed over at least a width of 10 mm and a depth of 12 mm.

A sliding nozzle unit in which a face pressure load is released by inserting a cotter into a press member provided in an open close metal frame and sliding the cotter on an inclination block provided on the side face of a sliding metal frame thereby flexing a resilient body through the press member. The inclination block is spaced apart from the nozzle hole of a sliding plate on the longitudinal side face of the sliding metal frame. Inclining face of the inclination block is formed to become lower toward the direction for fully closing the nozzle hole and a stop member is provided on the longitudinal side face of the sliding metal frame, in the vicinity of nozzle hole of the sliding plate, so that the nozzle hole is not fully opened under a state where the cotter is inserted into the press member. Alternatively, the inclination block may be disposed closely to the nozzle hole in the longitudinal side face of the sliding metal frame, the inclining face of the inclination block is formed to become lower toward the direction for fully opening the nozzle hole and a stop member may be provided to be closer to the full close side than the inclination block, and on the longitudinal side face of the sliding metal frame so that the nozzle hole is not fully opened under a state where the cotter is inserted into the press member.

A sliding nozzle apparatus for a molten metal holding vessel including a fixed nozzle member and a fixed plate therefor which are supported by an upper or fixed bracket secured to the vessel, and a movable nozzle member and a slidable plate therefor which are supported by a lower or movable bracket having one edge hinged to the upper bracket, while its opposite edge remote from its hinged connection to the upper bracket is removably connectable to the upper bracket to bring the slidable plate into contact with the fixed plate. A first set of coil springs are located adjacent to the edge of the lower bracket at which it is hinged to the upper bracket, and a second set of coil springs are located adjacent to the opposite edge of the lower bracket. The first set of coil springs are deflected to a greater degree than the second set of coil springs, or are, in other words, preloaded differently from the second set of springs.
