A magnetic recording medium is described, comprising a non-magnetic support base having positioned thereon a magnetic layer and optionally a non-magnetic layer, wherein at least one layer of the magnetic and non-magnetic layers contains an oxyfatty acid ester. This recording medium has superior surface properties and thus superior running properties, and can be satisfactorily used in tape decks.

Magnetic recording media

A recording disc in which two recording sheets are bonded to bonding rings at the inner and outer periphery on both sides of a circular substrate with a recess between the recording portion of the recordings sheets and the substrate. The sheets are formed of a support material anisotropy and a recording material deposited on the support. The sheets are bonded to the bonding rings with their directions of anisotropy aligned.

A magnetic recording medium such as a video tape comprising a magnetic recording layer which comprises a ferromagnetic metal powder having a specific surface area of not less than 42 m.sup.2 /g and an inorganic material powder having a Mohs' scale of hardness of not less than 5, wherein at least 90 wt. % of said inorganic material powder consists of particles having a particle size of 0.1-0.6 .mu.m, 51-85 wt. % of a portion of said particles consisting of particles having a particle size of less than 0.3 .mu.m, and the residual portion consisting of particles having a particle size of not less than 0.3 .mu.m.

A magnetic recording medium is disclosed. The medium is comprised of a support and a magnetic layer provided thereon wherein an oxyfatty acid is incorporated in the magnetic layer or in the surface of a support or layer coming into contact with the magnetic layer. A magnetic recording medium which comprises a non-magnetic support having thereon a magnetic recording layer containing ferromagnetic metal particles and a binder, wherein the ferromagnetic metal particles have a specfic area of about 35 to about 80 m.sup.2 /g, and the magnetic recording layer has a surface roughness of about 0.001 to 0.04 .mu.m and a residual amount of the solvent is about 0.5 to about 30 mg/m.sup.2.

A magnetic recording medium having a thin magnetic film on a non-magnetic support base is disclosed. A layer of a compound which contains at least two isocyanate groups is formed in connection with the medium, and may be formed on either the surface of the metal film or the surface of the base opposite the metal film, or both. The resulting medium has excellent running properties, wear resistance and electro-to-magnetic conversion characteristics which are maintained after repeated use. The medium is formed by providing a non-magnetic support base surface and coating that surface with a thin magnetic metal film by use of a process such as vapor deposition. A solution of a compound containing at least two isocyanate groups is then applied to the medium within a solvent after which a heat treatment is carried out, thus forming the layer of compound containing the isocyanate groups.

Magnetic recording medium and process for producing same

A magnetic recording medium having a thin magnetic metal layer on a base is disclosed. A thin metal film of Group IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IIIB, IVA, IVB, VA, VB, VIA, VIB or VIIB of the Periodic Table is formed on the thin magnetic metal layer or the base on the reverse side of which the thin magnetic metal layer is formed. A layer of aliphatic acid is further formed on said thin metal film.

A magnetic recording medium having a thin magnetic metal film on a non-magnetic base is disclosed. A surface layer is formed on either the thin magnetic metal film or the other side of the base or both by irradiating a coating of a polymer having an unsaturated bond polymerizable by radiation. A process for producing such magnetic recording medium is also disclosed.
