An excess voltage applied to a piezoelectric element is detected and controlled to improve durability and reliability of the piezoelectric element. A fuel injection control device for an internal combustion engine in which a power source voltage is boosted by a dc-dc converter and the so-boosted output voltage is supplied via a first choke coil and a first thyristor to a piezoelectric element for charging the piezoelectric element, the electric charge of which is subsequently discharged via a second thyristor and a second choke coil. The fuel injection control device includes a positive voltage detection unit for detecting an excess voltage arranged between the first choke coil and the first thyristor and a positive voltage control unit controlled by an output signal of the positive voltage detection unit and adapted for shorting both ends of the first choke coil. The current through the first thyristor is cutoff to prevent the excess voltage from being applied to the piezoelectric element.

Fuel injection control device for internal combustion engine

A fuel injecting apparatus includes a housing, a bobbin around which a coil is wound, a first core member disposed at one side of the bobbin, a second core member disposed in the bobbin so as to define a clearance with the first core member, and a nozzle disposed at one end of the housing which has an injecting opening. A first movable member is disposed in the bobbin and includes a first projection portion which forms a first gap with the second core member, and a second movable member is disposed in the bobbin and includes a second projection portion which forms a second gap with the first core member. The second movable member includes a fuel measuring device therein. A third movable member is slidably fit in the nozzle so as to define a third gap at one end thereof with the second movable member, and a valve member is disposed between the first movable member and the second movable member. A first spring member is disposed between the first core member and the second projection portion of the second movable member, while a second spring member is disposed between the first core member and the first projection portion of the first movable member. The second spring member includes a spring force which is larger than that of the first spring member. A third spring member is also provided which forces the third movable member so as to close the injecting opening.

Fuel injecting apparatus

Piezoelectric element used in a fuel injection value is to be improved in its response to expansion and contraction, while the supply of an excess energy to the piezoelectric element is to be controlled. In a fuel injection control device in which an output voltage of the dc-dc converter is applied to a piezoelectric element via a choke coil and a thyristor, a current detection unit is provided between the dc-dc converter and the thyristor. A measured value of the electric charge, as found by integrating a charging current flowing through the current detection unit is compared by a comparator to a command value of electrical charges as found by processing the dc-dc converter output voltage. The results of comparison are supplied to a latch unit so as to be latched at the timing of a peak value of the charging current. A capacitor is charged and discharged depending on an output of the latch unit, and the terminal voltage across the capacitor and the output voltage of the dc-dc converter are compared to each other for controlling the output voltage of the dc-dc converter.

An after-burner system comprises an exhaust passage of an engine, a catalyzer to purify Hydrocarbon and located into the exhaust passage, a temperature sensor located in the catalyzer, a spark gap located in the exhaust passage at an upper stream side of the catalyzer, an ignition plug used for an ignition, and a central controller having an igniting controller controlling an ignition at the ignition plug and an after-burner controller controlling an electric discharge at the spark gap, wherein while the temperature sensor outputs a logical HIGH signal, the electric discharge is generated at the spark gap.

After-burner system

An ignition system has a burn sensor detects the condition of the burn of the fuel so that the ignition system stops supplying the current to the ignition plug when the burn of the fuel is detected. On the other hand, if the burn of the fuel is not sufficient, the ignition system keeps supplying the current to the ignition plug to make sure the burn to happen. Thus the ignition system can develop the energy efficiency and consumption.

Ignition system for an engine

An ignition system has a plurality of primary and secondary coils, ignition timing means for providing an ignition timing signal and current supply means for supplying a current to the primary coils in response to an ignition timing signal. A current is supplied to a plurality of the primary coils at the same time to charge the coils so that a charge time is shortened.

Ignition system

An ignition controlling device includes a spark plug, a first ignition coil for supplying an ignition current to the spark plug, a second ignition coil for supplying an ignition current to the spark plug and a controller for controlling the supplies of the currents to the spark plug from the first and second ignition coils.

Ignition controlling device

A DC voltage converting device having a choke coil, a switching device, a capacitor for accumulating electric energy, an inhibition setting device for setting and releasing an inhibition of charging, a current detecting device for detecting a charge current of the choke coil, a charge/discharge setting device for setting a discharge of the choke coil, and a driving device for conductively energizing the switching device. Based on this construction, when a capacitor voltage exceeds a predetermined voltage, only a time for interrupting the charge is extended.

DC voltage converting device

An ignition system is disclosed in which secondary windings of a first and a second ignition coil are connected in parallel to a spark electrode of an internal combustion engine. A d.c. high voltage is alternately fed to the primary windings of the first and the second ignition coil. When an integrated value of a current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil reaches a first reference value, this primary coil is disconnected from a feed bus, and instead the primary winding of the second (the first) ignition coil is connected to the bus. When a short-circuit occurs in one of the ignition coils, only the other ignition coil conducts repeatedly, and accordingly the switching of the energization takes place whenever the current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil reaches a second reference value. In the event a breakage occurs in one of the ignition coils, only the other ignition coil conducts repeatedly, and accordingly the switching of the energization takes place when the integrated value of the current flow through the first (the second) ignition coil fails to reach the first reference value within a first given time interval.

Ignition system for internal combustion engine

An ignition system for generating multiple ignitions during a spark interval of an engine cylinder. For controlling an energy of each one of the multiple ignitions, a ramp signal which linearly rises from an initial peak value of a primary charge current for each one of the multiple ignitions of a primary winding of the ignition coil is compared with a preset value and a charge of the primary winding for each one of the multiple ignitions is stopped when the ramp signal exceeds the preset value. After a predetermined time, a primary charge current is supplied again to the primary winding until the ramp signal exceeds the preset value.
