A magnesium alloy structural member having excellent corrosion resistance is provided. The magnesium alloy structural member includes a magnesium alloy substrate that contains more than 7.5% by mass of Al and an anticorrosive layer formed on a surface of the substrate by chemical conversion treatment. The substrate contains a precipitate, typically, particles dispersed therein. The particles are made of an intermetallic compound containing at least one of Al and Mg and have an average particle size of 0.05 &#x3bc;m or more and 1 &#x3bc;m or less. The total area of the particles accounts for 1% by area or more and 20% by area or less. The anticorrosive layer includes a lower sublayer and a surface sublayer on the substrate in this order. The surface sublayer is denser than the lower sublayer. The substrate of the magnesium alloy structural member has high corrosion resistance because of a high Al content. The magnesium alloy structural member has excellent corrosion resistance because of the dense sublayer on the front side of the anticorrosive layer, which prevents a corrosive liquid from reaching the substrate. The porous lower sublayer can reduce the tendency of the anticorrosive layer to detach from the substrate, for example, upon impact and allows the magnesium alloy structural member to retain high corrosion resistance.

Magnesium alloy structural member

A magnesium alloy material having excellent impact resistance is provided. The magnesium alloy material is composed of a magnesium alloy that contains more than 7.5% by mass of Al and has a Charpy impact value of 30 J/cmor more. Typically, the magnesium alloy material has an elongation of 10% or more at a tension speed of 10 m/s in a high-speed tensile test. The magnesium alloy is composed of a precipitate, typically made of an intermetallic compound containing at least one of Al and Mg, and contains particles having an average particle size of 0.05 &#x3bc;M or more and 1 &#x3bc;m or less dispersed therein. The total area of the particles accounts for 1% by area or more and 20% by area or less. The magnesium alloy material containing fine precipitate particles dispersed therein has high impact absorption capacity through dispersion strengthening and has excellent impact resistance.

Magnesium alloy material

The invention offers a magnesium alloy sheet material having excellent plastic processibility and rigidity and a magnesium alloy formed body having excellent rigidity. The sheet material has magnesium alloy that forms the matrix containing hard particles. The region from the surface of the sheet material to a position away from the surface by 40% of the thickness of the sheet material is defined as the surface region, and the remaining region as the center region. Hard particles existing in the center region have a maximum diameter of more than 20 &#x3bc;m and less than 50 &#x3bc;m, and hard particles existing in the surface region have a maximum diameter of 20 &#x3bc;m or less. Because the hard particles existing at the surface side are fine particles, they are less likely to become the starting point of cracking or another defect at the time of plastic processing. Because the hard particles existing in the center region are coarse, they can increase the rigidity of the sheet material.

Magnesium alloy sheet material

The method of producing a magnesium alloy joined part has the following steps: a joining step of joining a reinforcing material made of metal to a plate material made of magnesium alloy without allowing an organic material to remain at the joined portion and a plastic-working step of performing plastic working on the plate material to which the reinforcing material is joined. A desirable means of joining the reinforcing material to the plate material can be to use an inorganic adhesive. Because the magnesium alloy joined part is formed by a structure in which the reinforcing material is joined to the plate material, in comparison with the case where the reinforcing material is formed by machining or the like, the magnesium alloy structural member can be obtained with high production efficiency.

Magnesium alloy joined part and production method thereof

A magnesium alloy member having mechanical properties and corrosion resistance and a method of manufacturing the magnesium alloy member are provided. A magnesium alloy member has a base material made of a magnesium alloy, and an anticorrosive film formed on the base material. The base material is a rolled magnesium alloy including 5 to 11% by mass of Al. By using a base material including a large amount of Al, a magnesium alloy member having excellent mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance can be produced. In addition, by using a rolled material, the number of surface defects at the time of casting is small, and the frequency of compensation processes such as undercoating and puttying can be reduced.

Magnesium alloy member and method of manufacturing the same

A layered heat exchanger for use in evaporators or the like has a pipe mount plate which is given improved amenability to brazing at the portion thereof between a fluid introduction pipe socket and a fluid discharge pipe socket provided on the plate. This feature reliably precludes the development of a shortcut channel between the fluid introduction channel and the fluid discharge channel due to a faulty brazed joint.

Layered heat exchanger

A stack type evaporator has a compact structure and a high cooling ability. A plurality of flat and plate-like tubular elements 1, each having a pair of formed plates 7, are stacked together in the lateral direction. Each tubular element 1 has two or more passages 10 inside it, each extending along the longitudinal direction. A refrigerant flows through a forward passage 10 in the tubular elements 1, and shifts to a return passage 10 in the direction opposed to the air flow. A corrugate inner fin 11 is placed throughout the refrigerant passages 10. One of the formed plate pair 7 has short cylindrical tanks 12a projecting outward, while the other has short cylindrical tanks 12b projecting outward, but in the opposite direction. When stacking up the tubular elements 1, the tanks 12a are fit into the corresponding tanks 12b of the adjacent formed plate 7 of the next tubular element 1.

A stack type evaporator includes tubular elements 1 each having a plurality of inwardly protruding recessed ribs 7 which extend from an upper header portion 1a of the element to a lower header portion 1b, with the ribs serving as straight drainage canals 7a of specified width and area. A hydrophilic resin coating of a specific composition covers the outer surfaces of the tubular elements 1 and fins 2 each interposed between two adjacent tubular elements. The combination of straight drainage canals, the specified width and area thereof and the specific hydrophilic resin coating is effective to facilitate the drainage of condensed water so that the waterdrop is substantially prevented from flying out of the evaporator, and the hydrophilic coating itself does not emit any unpleasant smell.
