A control device for a variable-capacity oil pump provided in an engine using alcohol-containing fuel includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: (i) estimate an alcohol concentration in oil of the engine, and (ii) correct a capacity of the oil pump to be increased in a correction condition as compared with a case where the correction condition is not established when the correction condition is established. The correction condition is that an estimated alcohol concentration is a predetermined concentration or more and a temperature of the oil is a predetermined temperature or more.

Control device for oil pump

An exhaust manifold includes: a double collecting pipe formed of inner and outer pipes; and an inner pipe retainer formed of a pair of semi-circular portions and a connecting portion. The inner pipe includes a collecting pipe portion and bifurcated branch pipe portions. The outer pipe covers outer peripheral portions of the collecting and branch pipe portions. The semi-circular portions are respectively connected to outer peripheral portions of branched branch pipe portions and an inner peripheral portion of the outer pipe. The connecting portion connects the semi-circular portions. The inner pipe retainer is interposed between the inner pipe and the outer pipe and is connected to the inner pipe and the outer pipe to define a certain gap therebetween. Exhaust gas from exhaust ports of a set of cylinders among a plurality of cylinders of an engine is introduced into the collecting pipe portion through the branch pipe portions.

Exhaust manifold

An exhaust manifold includes: a double collecting pipe having an inner pipe, including a collecting pipe portion and branch pipe portions, and an outer pipe, covering the collecting and branch pipe portions and thicker than the inner pipe; and an inner pipe retainer having semi-circular portions and a connecting portion, and thicker than the inner pipe and thinner than the outer pipe. The inner pipe retainer connects the inner and outer pipes with a gap therebetween. Exhaust gas from exhaust ports of a set of cylinders is introduced into the collecting pipe portion through the branch pipe portions. The total spot-welded area of the outer peripheral portions of the branch pipe portions and the inner peripheral portions of the semi-circular portions is larger than that of the inner peripheral portion of the outer pipe and the outer peripheral portions of the semi-circular portions.

A ring groove for a two-piece oil ring of a piston is provided that has ring body equipped with a coil expander, wherein the ring body has an upper outer surface and a lower outer surface, both orthogonal to the axial direction of the piston. The ring groove also has an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface, both orthogonal to the axial direction of the piston; a radially inward-most, bottom surface connecting the upper and lower inner surfaces; and oil drain holes, each having an opening thereof located on the bottom surface. The ring groove has an axial width slightly greater than the width of the two-piece oil ring. The ring groove has a radially inward ends of the upper and lower surfaces of the ring groove, respectively, located radially inwardly apart by a first predetermined distance from the radially inward ends of the upper and lower outer surfaces of the ring body when the oil ring is mounted within the ring groove so that the outer circumferential surface of the ring body is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of a cylinder which is engaged with the piston.

An electrochemical stain prevention apparatus of a submerged structure comprising a submerged structure of which at least the stain prevention surface is formed of a conductive film that does not generate chlorine even by applying a potential of 5 V vs. SCE or less, a counter electrode located so as not to contact with the submerged structure, and a power supply unit for passing a direct current through the submerged structure having the conductive film formed thereon and the counter electrode. Aquatic organisms adhered to the surface of the conductive film can effectively be controlled by applying a potential of from 0.1 to 5 V vs. SCE to the submerged structure of such a stain prevention apparatus without generating chlorine. A potential applied to the conductive film of the submerged structure can be controlled with good accuracy by disposing a reference electrode between the submerged structure and the counter electrode. As the conductive film formed on the substrate of the submerged structure, a sprayed coating film made of a metal nitride can preferably be used.
