Spray dried formulation of a cholera toxin B subunit variant

Polypeptides are provided that include an actinohivin variant polypeptide. The actinohivin variant polypeptide can be operably connected to an antibody fragment, such as a fragment crystallizable (Fc) region of immunoglobulin (Ig) G. Nucleic acid sequences, expression vectors, and transformed plant cells useful for producing the polypeptides are also provided. Further provided are methods for treating a viral infection or a cancer in a subject and include the step of administering the actinohivin variant polypeptide to the subject.

Actinohivin variant polypeptides and methods of treatment using them

Protein complex variants, compositions, and methods of use thereof are provided. The protein complex variant includes a cholera toxin B subunit variant having one or more modifications thereto. The method of use thereof includes treating a disease by administering an effective amount of a composition including a cholera toxin B subunit variant to a subject in need thereof.

Compositions and methods for treating cancer and promoting wound healing

Isolated polypeptides are provided that comprise a cholera toxin B subunit variant having one or more modifications to increase the expression of the polypeptide in a plant cell. Nucleic acids sequences, vectors, and plant cells for expressing the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides are also provided. Further provided are methods for producing the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides that include the steps of transforming a plant cell with a nucleic acid encoding the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides; expressing the variant polypeptides; and purifying the polypeptides. Still further provided are methods of isolating the variant polypeptides that include the steps of obtaining a plant cell expressing the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides; extracting the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides from the plant cell; and purifying the cholera toxin B subunit variant polypeptides. Methods of eliciting an immune response are also provided.

Polypeptides having immunoactivating activity and methods of producing the same

Methods for producing antibodies are provided and include transforming a plant cell with a nucleic acid encoding a heavy chain of an antibody, a light chain of an antibody, and a linking polypeptide connecting the heavy chain to the light chain. The nucleic acid is then expressed in the plant cell, such that, upon expression the linking polypeptide is cleaved to separate the heavy chain from the light chain. Isolated nucleic acid sequences, expression vectors, and transformed plant cells useful for producing the antibodies are also provided. Further provided are methods for treating a viral infection and include the steps of obtaining an antibody produced by the above-described methods and then administering the antibody to a subject.

Methods for producing antibodies

A polypeptide is provided that comprises an actinohivin variant polypeptide having an amino acid sequence selected from SEQ ID NOS: 4-12. The polypeptide can be provided as part of a fusion protein that includes the actinohivin variant polypeptide and either a fragment crystallizable domain of an antibody (Fc), a fragment antigen-binding domain of an antibody (Fab), or a single chain variable fragment of an antibody (scFv). Isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding the polypeptides are also provided along with vectors and plant cells capable of expressing the polypeptides. Methods of treating an infection of a subject by an enveloped virus are further provided and include administering an effective amount of the polypeptides to a subject.

Polypeptides having antiviral activity and methods for use thereof

A composition and method for enhancing immune response in a living organism is disclosed. In particular, the present disclosure provides an adjuvant peptide for use in raising an immune response to an antigen. The adjuvant peptide is selected from a group of peptides with an HIV-related sequence. Additionally, the adjuvant peptide can comprise a fusion-protein that acts as a mucosal adjuvant. The adjuvant peptide can be transformed into one or more living cells, such that the mucosal adjuvant can be produced in living cells and then administered by systemic, mucosal or epidermal delivery.
