A lens-fitted photo film unit is preloaded with a roll of photo film whose film speed is ISO3200, and has a mode selection member that is manually operated to select one of a standard photography mode, an indoor photography mode and a night-view photography mode. In the standard photography mode, an exposure is made without flash with a small aperture size and at a high shutter speed. In the indoor photography mode, an exposure is made with a flashlight, with a middle aperture size and at a high shutter speed. In the night-view photography mode, an exposure is made with a flash light, with a large aperture size and at a low shutter speed.

Lens-fitted photo film unit

In a reproduction method for lens-fitted photo film units, a roll of high-speed photo film of ISO1600 or more is loaded in a new film unit body, so as to produce a lens-fitted photo film unit that is improved in imaging characteristics for a low brightness scene with regard to its background. After being used up, the high-speed film is unloaded for development, and the emptied film unit body is recovered for recycling. In a recycling line, a roll of standard-speed photo film of ISO400 is loaded in a reproduced film unit body, so as to be sold as another type lens-fitted photo film unit that is improved in imaging characteristics in a background area of a high brightness scene.

Reproduction method for lens-fitted photo film unit

A flash device for a lens-fitted photo film unit pre-loaded with unexposed photo film is provided. A main capacitor stores charge. A flash emitter emits flash light. A flash circuit board charges the main capacitor, and drives the flash emitter by discharging the main capacitor in response to an exposing operation. A tightly closed flash case is secured to the lens-fitted photo film unit, for containing the main capacitor, the flash emitter and the flash circuit board. Also, the lens-fitted photo film unit includes a sync switch for generating a trigger signal in response to the exposing operation. Two switch contact points are disposed outside the flash case, for receiving the trigger signal from the sync switch. The two switch contact points disable discharge of the main capacitor while the flash case is away from the lens-fitted photo film unit, and are short-circuited for discharge of the main capacitor upon supply of the trigger signal while the flash case is secured to the lens-fitted photo film unit.

Lens-fitted photo film unit, flash device, and lens-fitted photo film system

A lens-fitted photo film unit contains a battery unit. The battery unit has a battery, which includes positive and negative battery electrodes. A battery case is formed from insulating material, and contains the battery. An elastic cap is included in the battery case. First and second contact segments are thrust through respectively the elastic cap in a watertight manner, and contact respectively the positive and negative battery electrodes, for external connection of the battery.

Battery unit for lens-fitted photo film unit

A lens-fitted photo film unit includes a flash unit for applying flash light to a photographic object. An exposure amount changer, such as an aperture stop changing mechanism, changes over object light incident on photo film from the object between low and high exposure amounts. For the lens-fitted photo film unit, a photographic mode selection device includes a movable selector, such as a button, for selectively designating a daylight mode, a daylight flash mode and a night flash mode. The movable selector, when the daylight mode is designated, determines the low exposure amount and turns off the flash unit, and when the daylight flash mode is designated, determines the low exposure amount and turns on the flash unit, and when the night flash mode is designated, determines the high exposure amount and turns on the flash unit.

A taking lens is held by a lens-holding rib, behind which an opening is formed as an aperture-stop. A stop plate is disposed behind the taking lens and is formed with a stop aperture, which is smaller than the aperture-stop. The lens-holding rib is formed with a cut portion through which an end portion of the stop plate is inserted to position the stop aperture at a photographic optical axis. Upon sliding a switch member upward, a setting segment thereof pushes up an abutting pin integrally formed with the stop plate so that the stop plate is rotated to move toward the outside of the lens-holding rib through the cut portion. Hence, the stop aperture of the stop plate is evacuated from the photographic optical axis.

A protective cover ( ) for a taking lens is provided in the front of a lens-fitted photo film unit. The protective cover cooperates with a shutter locking mechanism which locks a shutter button ( ) when the protective cover is in a closed position in front of the taking lens. The protective cover also cooperates with a flash prevention mechanism which turns off a flash charge switch off when the protective cover moves in the closed position, prevents the flash charge switch from being moved to its ON position so long as the protective cover is in the closed position, and allows the flash charge switch to be moved to the ON position when the protective cover is moved away from the taking lens. The protective cover is slidable in a horizontal direction on a front surface portion of the film unit, and the front surface portion is straight in the horizontal direction. The protective cover has a vertical length that does not interfere with a bottom lid ( ) that is provided for removal of an exposed photo filmstrip. A first label is stuck on a front surface of the protective cover, and a second label is wrapped around the film unit excluding the front surface portion the protective cover slide thereon, to decorate and dust-proof the film unit and reinforce the unit housing.

In a film unit, a charge operation member is held on a fron side of a guide member to be slidable between an ON position to turn on a flash charge switch of a built-in flash device and an OFF position to turn off the flash charge switch. The guide member is mounted stationarily to a front side of a flash circuit board of the flash device. Joints between front and rear cover of the film unit are set away from those circuit portions of the flash device where high voltage current flows. The flash charge switch is constituted of a metal contact blade and contact chips provided on the flash circuit board. The metal contact blade is bent roundly at a base portion of a pair of resilient arms. The charge operation member keeps on pressing the arms onto the contact chips in the ON position. The flash device charges a main capacitor while the flash charge switch is on, and automatically stops charging when the charge voltage goes above a predetermined voltage. A light emitting diode indicates the completion of charging.

Lens-fitted photo film unit and flash device

A lens-fitted photo film unit is pre-loaded with photo film. First and second taking lenses are arranged in an arranging direction crosswise to a photographic optical axis, and have focal lengths different from each other. A rotatable lens holder supports the first and second taking lenses. An externally operable button member is operable by external operation, rotates the lens holder in the arranging direction, and sets the first and second taking lenses selectively on the photographic optical axis. A viewfinder optical system is settable at first and second viewfinder magnifications, and adapted to observation of a photographic field. A magnification changer mechanism including a lever is shifted in response to rotation of the lens holder, and sets the viewfinder optical system at the first and second viewfinder magnifications respectively when the first and second taking lenses are set on the photographic optical axis.

Lens-fitted photo film unit and assembling method for the same

A first stop plate with a small stop opening is disposed behind a taking lens, and a second stop plate with a middle stop opening is disposed between a first and second lens, which comprise the taking lens. Upon moving a changeover knob to an ON position, a flash unit and the second stop plate are actuated such that the middle stop opening is retracted from an photographic light path PL. The small stop opening is retracted from the photographic light path PL when subject luminance is less than a predetermined value. In high-luminance condition, the small stop opening and the middle stop opening are set on the photographic light path PL, and in middle-luminance condition, the small stop opening is retracted. In low-luminance condition, the middle stop opening is retracted by operation of the changeover knob, so only a large stop opening is set on the photographic light path PL.

A waterproof lens-fitted photo film unit includes a lens-fitted photo film unit. Between a case body and a rear lid, the lens-fitted photo film unit is contained in a watertight manner. A separation opening is formed in the case body. A separation access chamber has an entrance connected to the separation opening, and closes the separation opening in a watertight manner in a position interior with reference to the case body. The separation access chamber includes a thin wall having a small thickness, and is breakable by a separator tool having a long shape with a small width.

A lens-fitted photo film unit includes an opaque main body pre-loaded with photo film. An opaque rear cover covers a rear of the main body. A front cover covers a front of the main body. A viewfinder eyepiece opening is formed through the rear cover. A viewfinder objective opening is formed in the front cover, combined with the viewfinder eyepiece opening, and adapted to observation of a photographic field. The front cover is produced from transparent material. A field frame member is disposed on an edge of the viewfinder objective opening, visible through the viewfinder eyepiece opening, for indicating a photographable region in the photographic field.
