A herbicidal composition comprising a herbicidally effective amount of N-halogenoacylanilino-fatty acid or the ester derivative thereof represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 allyl, R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl having up to 10 carbon atoms, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynyl or cyclohexyl, R.sub.4 represents lower alkyl substituted by 1-4 halogen atoms and Y represents C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkylene, as an effective ingredient, and a herbicidally effective inert carrier.

1-Cycloalkylcarbonyl-3-(3,5-dihalophenyl)imidazolidine-2,4-diones of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is a chlorine or bromine atom, R.sub.1 is a C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, tetramethylcyclopropyl, 2,2-dimethyl-3-isobutenylcyclopropyl or 2,2-dimethyl-3-dichlorovinylcyclopropyl group and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are individually a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, which show high fungicidal activities without any material toxicity to mammals and plants and which can be produced by reacting the corresponding 1-unsubstituted compound with a cycloalkanecarboxylic acid or a reactive derivative thereof.

N-substituted-aminoacetamide compounds having the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a lower alkenyl group having up to 5 carbon atoms, a halogen-substituted lower alkenyl group having up to 5 carbon atoms or a lower alkynyl group having up to 5 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a lower akyl group having up to 4 carbon atoms, and the inorganic and organic acid addition salts thereof, which are useful as fungicidal agents, processesfor preparing N-substituted-aminoacetamide compounds and fungicidal compositions containing at least one compound of the formula (I) as an active inredient.

Novel N-(3,5-dihalophenyl)imide compounds, which exhibit a strong antimicrobial activity against microorganisms including phytopathogenic fungi, parasites of industrial products and pathogenic microorganisms, represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein X and X' each represent halogens and A represents a substituted ethylene such as chloroethylene, C.sub.1 - C.sub.4 alkylthioethylene, C.sub.1 - C.sub.2 alkyl-ethylene or 1,2-di-C.sub.1 - C.sub.2 -alkyl-ethylene, a cyclopropylene such as 1,3-dimethylcyclopropylene, trimethylene, a cyclohexylene-1,2-, cyclohexenylene-1,2-, cyclohexadienylene-1,2- or o-phenylene. The N-(3,5-dihalophenyl)imide compounds can be obtained by any of methods which produce imide compounds or reaction of an N-(3,5-dihalophenyl)maleimide compound with a mercaptan, a hydrogen halide, phosphorus chloride or thionylchloride.

N-substituted aminonitrile derivatives of the formula (I) ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are as hereinafter defined, useful as fungicides, method for their preparation, and fungicidal compositions containing the N-substituted aminonitrile derivatives of the formula (I).
