A self-photography apparatus has an imaging device for picking up an image signal representing a facial image of a human object, a determination device for determining the size of face of the human object. In accordance with the determined face size, the magnification of the image is adjusted so as to make the facial image have a predetermined size in a photograph. The determination device is comprised of a monitor display displaying a video facial image of the human object and indices as the scale of the face size. The magnification of image is changed by manually or automatically changing the object distance or mechanically changing the focal length of a taking lens device. When making a photograph by video printing, the determination device may be a controller determining the face size on the basis of the image signal, an image magnification conversion circuit converts the magnification of image in accordance with the face size determined by the controller. Based on the magnification-converted image signal, a video printer records the facial image on a photosensitive material.

High-contrast silver halide photographic material and photographic image

A novel method of forming radiation images, especially X-ray images of bones and gastric areas for medical examination, is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of exposing a radiation image-forming system to radiation, the radiation image-forming system comprising a silver halide photographic material having at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on each side of a transparent support and two radiation-intensifying screens respectively arranged on the front and the back sides of the photographic material, the photographic material having a crossover rate of at most 15% with respect to the light emitted from the intensifying screens; and developing the exposed photographic material to form a radiation image, wherein the developed photographic material has a characteristic curve such that when drawn using crossed coordinates equal to each other in unit length, with diffusion density as ordinate (Y-axis) and common logarithm of exposure amount as abscissa (X-axis), the characteristic curve provides a point gamma value ranging from 1.8 to 3.0 at every point within the optical density range of 0.7 to 1.5 and a point gamma value ranging from 1.2 to 2.0 at every point within the optical density range of 2.0 to 2.8. The X-ray images formed by the method have a good balance between the image quality and the sensitivity.

Method of forming radiation images and silver halide photographic

Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material for X-ray photography which has at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on each side of a transparent support and constitutes a radiation image-forming system in combination with two radiation-intensifying screens respectively arranged on the front and the back sides of the photographic material. The photographic material is characterized by having a crossover rate of at most 15% with respect to the light emitted from said intensifying screens, and by producing an image having a characteristic curve such that when drawn using crossed coordinates equal to each other in unit length, with diffusion density as ordinate (Y-axis) and common logarithm of exposure amount as abscissa (X-axis), the characteristic curve provides a point gamma value ranging from 2.7 to 4.2 at every point within the optical density (diffusion density) range of 1.6 to 2.0 and a point gamma value of at least 0.25 at the density point corresponding to 1/10 of the exposure amount (-1.0 on logarithmic scale) required for providing the optical density of 1.8 when sandwiched between two intensifying screens having substantially the same sensitivity, subjected to stepwise exposure and then developed with Developer (I) having the following composition at a developer temperature of 35.degree. C. for a development time of 25 seconds:

Silver halide photographic material and method of forming radiation

There is disclosed a method for forming an X-ray image formed with less exposure than is customary and having an excellent resolution. The X-ray image can be formed by subjecting a light-sensitive material comprising a support, having provided thereon a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a silver halide emulsion sensitized with a sensitizing dye represented by the following Formula (I) on only one side of the support to photographing via a green color emission fluorescent screen with a soft X-ray emitted from an X-ray generating device with a tube voltage of 25.sup.kv to 40.sup.kv. In the characteristic curve represented by a rectangular coordinate constituted by optical density and logarithmic exposure, the average gradation shown by the gradient of a line drawn by connecting the point at which 0.25 is added to the minimum density (hereinafter referred to as Dmin) to the point at which 2.0 is added to Dmin is set at 2.8 to 3.6; the average gradation shown by a gradient of a line drawn by connecting the point at which 0.25 is added to Dmin to the point at which 0.5 is added to Dmin is set at 1.9 or more; and the maximum density is set at 2.8 to 3.3: ##STR1## wherein Formula (I) are as defined in the specification.

The present invention provides (1) a method for preparation of a photographic silver halide emulsion containing tabular silver halide particles having a particle diameter larger than the particle thickness by three times or more, wherein least one oxidizing agent selected from a hydrogen peroxide, a salt of a peroxy acid and an ozone is added to the emulsion before the termination of chemical ripening thereof and then a reducing agent is added thereto, and (2) a silver halide photographic material which has at least one or more layers comprising a tabular silver halide particle-containing emulsion wherein tabular silver halide particles are those prepared by method (1). A silver halide photographic sensitive material is disclosed. The material is comprised of a support base which has a sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on the surface of the base. On the silver halide emulsion layer is a first and a second insensitive layer. The second insensitive layer has a melting time which is higher than that of the first insensitive layer. The first insensitive layer has a melting time which is equal to or higher than the melting time of the silver halide emulsion layer. The resulting material can be advantageously utilize within an automatic developing apparatus. The material has improved mechanical properties and results in a reduced amount of scum being formed within the developing solution.

Silver halide photographic sensitive materials

A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a light-insensitive uppermost layer. The light-insensitive uppermost layer has a melting time longer than that of the light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a thickness of the light-insensitive uppermost layer is from 0.3 .mu.m to 0.8 .mu.m.
