A method of applying a coating solution onto an upper surface of a glass plate that is transported in a substantially horizontal attitude, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the method including the steps of transporting the glass plate into a coating chamber, and opening the plurality of coating nozzles which are positioned in a row at constant intervals therebetween along a curved shape of the upper surface of the glass plate in a width direction of the glass plate perpendicular to the direction of transporting the glass plate by the nozzle position adjusting means and the nozzle height adjusting means, to thereby inject the coating solution when the coating nozzles are located in a region of the upper surface of the glass plate which extends from the leading edge of the glass plate to the rear edge of the glass plate.

Apparatus and method of applying a coating solution

The present invention relates to a glass substrate which is characterized in that it has a primer layer that is formed thereon and includes a hydrolysis product of a hydrolysable silicon compound having an alkylene group and a hydrolysis product of a hydrolysable zirconium compound or hydrolysable titanium compound, and that, in the primer layer, zirconium is in an amount by weight ratio of 0.0002 times to 0.0025 times that of silicon, or titanium is in an amount by weight ratio of 0.0005 times to 0.0045 times that of silicon. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an anti-fogging article having a resin film that exhibits water-absorptive property and/or hydrophilic property and is formed on the primer layer of the glass substrate.

A first coating solution for forming a colored film on a glass substrate contains a titanium alkoxide; a silicon alkoxide; a coloring agent that is a nitrogen-containing organic compound; and an organic solvent dissolving the titanium alkoxide, the silicon alkoxide and the nitrogen-containing organic compound. A second coating solution therefor contains a titanium alkoxide; a silicon alkoxide; and an organic solvent dissolving the titanium alkoxide and the silicon alkoxide. At least one of these titanium alkoxide and silicon alkoxide of the second coating solution contains in the molecule a nitrogen-containing organic group derived from a nitrogen-containing organic compound.
