A flat motor suitable for driving the fan of an internal combustion engine includes a stationary cover member in the form of a disk adapted to be fixedly secured to a stationary support and a shaft secured at one end to the center of the cover member. A permanent magnet ring is secured to the cover member about the shaft and a rotor of synthetic resin material having an electric coil embedded therein is rotatably mounted on a shaft by means of a ball bearing which supports the entire weight of the shaft. A commutator ring assembly is secured to one side of the rotor and a bearing sleeve is mounted between the commutator ring and the shaft. A yoke is provided on the opposite side of the electrical coil from the permanent magnet and may be comprised of a plurality of disks of magnetic material secured in the resin material. A disk of soft magnetic material having a fan assembly integrally molded about the outer periphery thereof is secured to the rotor in engagement with the disk comprising the yoke. The disk could be eliminated and the fan supporting disk could be disposed in contact with the rotor adjacent the electric coil to act as the yoke.

Flat motor having a stationary magnet

An air lumbar support device utilized in an automobile seat for adjusting the curvature of a seat back by selectively regulating air pressures of a plurality of air bags accommodated in the seat back. The support device includes a pressure sensor detecting the air pressures of the seat bags, an input circuit supplying an electric signal from the pressure sensor to a control circuit, an output circuit receiving electric signal from the control circuit and causing an air control valve to actuate to thereby control the air pressures of the air bags, and a memory circuit memorizing and reading the electric signal supplied from the input circuit to the control circuit.

Air lumbar support device

A lumbar support air valve assembly is comprised of a housing having a chamber therein adapted to be connected to a source of air under pressure. A plurality of outlet ports are provided through the housing corresponding in number to the number of air bags located in the lumbar support region of an automobile seat back. The passage of pressurized air to the outlet ports is controlled by a check valve associated with each outlet port. A pressure relief valve is provided for limiting the pressure within the chamber and the individual air bags to a pre-determined value. A solenoid actuator is associated with each check valve within the housing so that on operation of the solenoid actuator by means of a switch located at a remote location on or near the dash board a solenoid actuator will cause the respective check valve to open. The energization of each solenoid actuator to open a check valve simultaneously opens an exhaust port for reducing the air pressure within the air bag associated therewith.

Lumbar support air valve assembly

An air bag control valve assembly is adapted to control the inflation of a plurality of air bags installed in a seat back rest of an automobile to fit the contour of the seated individual. The valve assembly comprises an integrally assembled body in which a pressure compartment is formed, an inlet for connecting the pressure compartment to a source of air pressure, a plurality of combined check and release valve units for connecting the pressure compartment to each of the air bags, said combined check and release valve units being attached to the interior of said body, and push-button mechanisms attached to said body to correspond to respective ones of said combined check and release valve units, the combined check and release valve units being opened by said push-button mechanisms so that air enclosed within the air bags is expelled backwardly into the pressure compartment and thence discharged into the atmosphere through gaps defined between the body and the push-button mechanisms.

Valve assembly for air bag control

A hose connector for at least one hose of a fluid operating device which includes a housing having a plurality of ports formed therein such that each of the plurality of hoses is interconnected with a corresponding port and including an elastic bushing mounted within the housing adjacent each of the plurality of ports for fluid communication with the fluid operating device. Each of the bushings is physically mounted within an opening formed in the housing and may include a plurality of annular seals formed on the outer periphery thereof and a plurality of annular seals formed on the inner periphery thereof.

Hose connector

A temperature responsive valve includes a bimetal disk which snaps in response to changes in temperature, a rod moved by the snapping action of the bimetal disk, a valve member in association with movement of the rod to thereby control the flow of fluid, and an adjustment member threaded through a body to properly adjust the range in movement of the valve member, the adjustment member being secured to the body after adjusting operation of the range of movement of the valve member.

An air bag system includes a plurality of inflatable air bags; an air source for supplying air to said air bags, a branched joint for distributing the air from said air source to said air bags; and check valves, each being provided between said joint and said air bags for allowing the air to flow to air bags from said joint, and openings of ports of said joint to branch pipes being changed in order of inflation of air bags.

An air bag system includes a plurality of air bags; a pump for supplying said air bags with air, check valves, each disposed on respective pipes communicating said pump with the air bags; and relief valves, each for discharging the air from respective air bag. The air bag further includes stop valves, each provided between said pump and respective check valves for inflating each air bag independently. The contour of a seat having air bags contained therein may be changed so as to fit an occupant.

Air bag system

An improved, dual function, thermal valve assembly has two passages and two valve mechanisms disposed in the passages, respectively. The assembly employs two thermally responsive actuating members which are actuatable to provide the dual functions in successive steps upon an increasing degree of temperature. The assembly is characterized by provision of a cavity to contain in isolation the thermally responsive actuating members from the passages to thereby avoid a tendency of thermal influence from the air flow passing through the passage.

Dual function thermal valve

A temperature responsive switch is provided which comprises a pair of bimetal discs having different temperature-deformation characteristics, a pair of fixed electrical contacts and a movable electrical contact. The movable contact engages one of the fixed contacts in response to a deformation of the pair of bimetal discs or remain free from engagement with either fixed contact. The engagement of the movable contact with one or the other of the fixed contacts and the absence of its engagement with either fixed contact constitute three conditionswhich permits a detection of a temperature of at least three different regions.

Temperature responsive switch

The thermally responsive valve device is comprised of a body having three passages therein, the first of which is adapted to be conected to a vacuum source while the second and third passages are each adapted to be connected to a suitable fluid operated device. The first passage is in constant fluid communication with two spaced apart fluid chambers within the body while the second and third passages are in selective communication with said chambers respectively. A valve member is located in each chamber for controlling communication of the second and third passages with their respective chambers. A pair of snapacting bimetallic disks are mounted in spaced relation within a third chamber in alignment with each other and each valve member. An operating rod is disposed in operative engagement between one of said disks and one of said valve members and a hollow tubular sleeve concentric with said rod is disposed in operative engagement between the other of said disk and the other of said valve members. A spring is operatively associated with each valve member for biasing the respective valve member toward said bimetallic disk to allow communication between said first passage and said second and third passages.

Thermally responsive valve device

A filter cap made of resinous material, and includes a housing with ceiling wall, a circumferential wall, an atmospheric port formed in the circumferential wall, and edges having a slanting surface. The filter cap reliably ensures installation in various devices and improves the corresponding assembly and resulting work efficiency of such devices. The filter cap can house an air filter in a predetermined location and protect an associated air passageway from water and foreign deposits such as, for example, mud.

A thermally responsive valve includes first and second bimetallic disks which are adapted to snap-over in response to first and second predetermined temperatures. First and second inlet ports are connected to vacuum and atmospheric pressure sources respectively and first and second outlet ports are connectable to first and second vacuum actuators respectively. The thermally responsive valve further includes first and second valve members, one of which controls the communication of vacuum to the first vacuum actuator in response to the snap-over action of the first bimetallic disk and the other of which controls the application of vacuum to said second vacuum actuator in response to the snap-over action of the second bimetallic disk. When communication between the vacuum source and the first and second vacuum actuators is interrupted by said first and second valve members, the first and second actuators will be then connected to the atmosphere through the second inlet port.

An air-filter assembly having a filter cap and a filter case, both being made of elastic material such as synthetic rubber and which are formed integrally with each other. The air filter assembly is provided at an air inlet pipe portion of a valve for use in an exhaust gas emission cleaning system.

Air-filter assembly

An electromagnetic control valve is provided with a housing having an inlet and two outlets extending through the wall of the housing. A valve member is mounted in spaced relation from each outlet opening on a resilient member for movement into and out of engagement with a valve seat surrounding the outlet opening. An elongated valve actuator is pivoted at its mid-point between the two valve members and is provided with a projection adjacent each end disposed in contact with a respective valve member. A spring normally biases the valve actuator about its pivot point to bias one of the valve members into engagement with its associated valve seat. An electromagnet is located on the opposite side of the valve actuator from said one of said valve members to pivot the valve actuator against the force of the spring.
