The present invention provides a multilayer coating film-forming method that is capable of forming a multilayer coating film with excellent finished appearance and excellent luster. The aqueous base paint (X) is applied by using a rotary-atomization bell-shaped coater under coating conditions of a shaping air pressure of 0.15 to 0.25 MPa and a paint discharge amount of 100 to 300 cm3/min. The viscosity 60 seconds after the application of the aqueous base paint (X), measured at a temperature of 23&#xb0; C. and a shear rate of 0.1 sec-1, is 90 to 160 Pa&#xb7;s, the solids content 60 seconds after the application is 20 to 40 mass %, and the film thickness 60 seconds after the application is 17 to 35 &#x3bc;m. The effect pigment dispersion (Y) contains a flake-aluminum pigment (A) with an average thickness of 1 nm or more and less than 70 nm, a flake-aluminum pigment (B) with an average thickness of 70 nm to 250 nm, a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin (C), a rheology control agent (D), a surface-adjusting agent (E), and water, the effect pigment dispersion (Y) having a solids content of 2 to 9 mass %. The effect coating film after curing has a film thickness of 0.5 to 2.0 &#x3bc;m.

Method for forming multilayer coating film

A sheet sorter includes an array of a plurality of sorting trays which are mounted on a sorter body and arranged in a vertical direction and a general-purpose tray which is mounted on the sorter body and is larger than each of the sorting trays in capacity so that it accommodates a larger number of sheets than each of the sorting trays. A tray drive mechanism provided in the sorter body moves up and down the sorting trays and the general-purpose tray so that sheets transferred by a transfer mechanism provided in the sorter body are selectively discharged onto the sorting trays or the general-purpose tray. The array of the sorting trays is positioned above the general-purpose tray. The sorting tray array and the general-purpose tray are normally held in a position where the sheet discharge port of the sheet transfer mechanism is positioned between the lowermost tray of the sorting tray array and the general-purpose tray as seen in a vertical direction.

A sheet discharging apparatus includes a conveyor provided at one side of the body of the apparatus, and sorter trays and a large capacity tray provided on the opposing side. Wings are provided each rotatable about a rotation axis, on a discharging side of the conveyor, and a projection is formed in the front side in the sheet conveying direction of each wing. The projection is brought into contact with an urging member provided at a frame of the container which is movable in upward/downward directions. When sorter trays are used, the urging member is separate from the projection, so that upper surface of the wing is below a conveying surface. When the frame and urging member are elevated to use the large capacity tray, the urging member presses the projection upward, and hence wings are elevated to be positioned upper than the conveying surface. When a thick sheet is to be discharged, an operation lever is operated so as to retract the projection, preventing contact between the urging member and a projection. Therefore, the wings are not elevated. Accordingly, the wings can be raised/lowered without any electric mechanism, and a sheet discharging apparatus is provided which enables sure discharge and stacking of sheets on the large capacity tray, regardless of the thickness of the sheets.

A sheet transfer system for transferring sheets on which an image is recorded by an image forming system and discharging the sheets to a tray includes a conveyor belt and a vacuum fan which generates a suction force for attracting the sheets against the conveyor belt. The suction force is stronger at the downstream side portion of the conveyor belt.

A sliding property improving agent comprising a multi-phase structure thermosplastic resin which consists of a dispersion of 5 to 95 parts by weight of a non-polar .alpha.-olefin polymer (a) and 95 to 5 parts by weight of a vinyl polymer (b), with the dispersing polymer having a particle size from 0.001 to 10 .mu.m. A graft precursor is formed by preparing a propylene polymer suspension having a propylene polymer suspended in water and a solution having a specific radically (co)polymerizable organic peroxide and a specific radical polymerization initiator dissolved in specific amounts in a vinyl monomer, mixing the propylene suspension and the solution in a specific ratio, heating and stirring the resultant mixture under conditions incapable of inducing substantial decomposition of the polymerization initiator, and further elevating the temperature of the mixture after the total amount of the vinyl monomer, the radically (co)polymerizable organic peroxide, and the radical polymerization initiator has decreased to less than 50% by weight of the initial total amount. Then a graft resin composition is produced by melting and kneading the graft precursor, either by itself or in combination with a propylene polymer and a vinyl polymer, at a temperature in the range of 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. thereby effecting a grafting reaction of the mixture.

A graft polymerization precursor is prepared through polymerization caused by impregnating an ethylene polymer with a vinyl monomer and a radical polymerizable PO, or a mixture of this graft polymerization precursor and an ethylene polymer and vinyl polymer, is kneaded in a molten state at 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. By so doing, a resin composition having a revolutionary high grafting efficiency can be obtained, so that secondary coagulation can be prevented.

Method of manufacturing a grafted resin composition

An ethylene-acrylic acid ester copolymer can be easily grafted in a high graft efficiency with a peroxy group-containing block copolymer consisting of segments of copolymer A, which is a copolymer of a (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer or its mixture with a radically copolymerizable monomer, with a radically copolymerizable peroxycarbonate, and segments of (co)polymer B, which is different from copolymer A in the monomer composition and does not contain a monomer unit of the radically copolymerizable peroxycarbonate. The grafted ethylene-acrylic acid ester copolymer can be effectively used as a compatibilizing agent in a polymer blend of polyolefin with styrene (co)polymer, as an emulsifying agent in an emulsion of high polymer, or as an adhesive at the interface of polyolefin and styrene (co)polymer.

A block copolymer consisting of segments of copolymer A, which is obtained by copolymerizing a (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer with a radically copolymerizable peroxycarbonate and has peroxy groups in its main polymer chain, and segments of (co)polymer B, which is different from copolymer A in the monomer composition and does not contain peroxy groups, can modify matrix resin without deteriorating the mechanical property of the resin.

Block copolymer

A block copolymer consisting of segments of copolymer A, which is obtained by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer with a radically copolymerizable peroxycarbonate and has peroxy groups in its main polymer chain, and segments of (co)polymer B, which is different from copolymer A in the monomer composition and does not contain peroxy groups, can modify matrix resin without deteriorating the mechanical property of the resin.

Disclosed herein is a low shrinkable unsaturated polyester resin composition consisting of (A) 20-70% by weight of an unsaturated polyester, (B) 28-60% by weight of a monomer polymerizable with the above unsaturated polyester, and (C) 2-20% by weight of a block copolymer mixture. The mixtures of the monomer (B) and the block copolymer mixture (C), and a mixture of the polyester (A), the monomer (B), and the block copolymer mixture (C) are in a non-aqueous dispersion state. The block copolymer mixture is obtained by polymerizing either one of the monomers defined below in (a) and (b) with a polymerization initiator a polymeric perioxide represented by the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 represents a divalent branched hydrocarbon group having 10-30 carbons, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or an alkali metal, and the average polymerization degree n is 2-40, and is used to obtain a first polymer having peroxy bonds in its molecule, and block-polymerizing the first polymer with the remaining monomer (a) or (b) which has not been used in the first polymerization reaction wherein, (a) is a monomer or a monomer mixture consisting of 70-100% by weight of styrene monomer and 30-0% by weight of a monomer polymerizable therewith.
