A product roll packaging apparatus includes a transfer unit for lifting and transferring a product roll from a conveyor, a wrapping unit for wrapping a protective sheet around the roll and attaching an end thereof with an adhesive tape, a protective sheet supply unit for cutting off the sheet from a sheet roll and supplying it along a protective sheet path line to the wrapping unit, and a tape supply unit for supplying the tape to the end of the cut sheet. The transfer unit includes a position correcting mechanism for establishing a reference line depending on the roll size, and bringing a reference end face of the roll into alignment with a vertical plane including the reference line. The protective sheet supply unit includes an edge position control mechanism for bringing a reference edge of the sheet into alignment with the reference line corresponding to the roll size.

Apparatus for and method of packaging product rolls

A laser beam emitted from a laser diode of each of detectors is applied to a partly cut region of a photosensitive sheet film which is spread toward the detectors by a film bending roller. Part of the laser beam which is reflected from the partly cut region is detected by an amount-of-light sensor. The laser beam that is applied to a surface of the photosensitive sheet film other than the partly cut region is reflected outside of a light-detecting area of the amount-of light sensor, and is not detected by the amount-of-light sensor.

Detecting device and laminated body manufacturing apparatus employing such detecting device

A supply unit supplies a film strip from a film roll, and a winding unit cuts off a film strip into a fixed-length film and winds the fixed-length film around a spool to produce a wound-film assembly. An assembling unit introduces the wound-film assembly into a one-open-sided cartridge, and mounts and crimps a cap on the one-open-sided cartridge to produce a wound-film-loaded cartridge. After a pullout resistance of the film and a film length to be exposed are inspected, the wound-film-loaded cartridge is unloaded as a product.

Apparatus for and method of manufacturing film

An apparatus for processing a film has a cutting mechanism for cutting an elongate film, first and second feed mechanisms disposed on respective opposite sides of the cutting mechanism, an inserting mechanism for inserting an end of the film into a spool, and a cam switching mechanism for changing the timing of operation of the cutting mechanism depending on sized films having various different lengths. The sized films having various different lengths can automatically and easily be inserted into spools with a simple arrangement.

Method of and apparatus for processing film

Supervisory computers are individually disposed in a molding line for molding a pair of shell halves, a cartridge assembly line for assembling a cartridge shell from the pair of shell halves and other parts, a winding line for producing and winding each individual filmstrip into each individual cartridge shell, a packaging line for packaging the photo film cartridges, and those of other lines or other processes. Each supervisory computer controls process controllers of the associated line. The supervisory computers are controlled by a production information supervisory computer. Data obtained from the process controllers is sent through the line supervisory computers to the production information supervisory computer, to be stored therein.

Method of managing information exchanged between production information

A bar code printing apparatus includes a rotary. encoder for outputting encoder pulses in two different phases. The direction in which film is transported is discriminated by the encoder pulses and indicated by a forward direction pulse or a reverse direction pulse indicated for a predetermined length of transported film. A direction discriminating circuit comprises a clock pulse generator for generating clock pulses at a frequency higher than that at which the encoder pulse is output, a delay circuit for slightly delaying the clock pulse, a first latch circuit for latching one of the encoder pulses in synchronism with the clock pulse to output a transportation signal; a second latch circuit for outputting a latch condition signal; and two AND gates, each connected to the first and second latch circuits and the delay circuit, for outputting a forward direction pulse and a reverse direction pulse, respectively.

A side printing head assembly for printing marks such as characters, symbols, or the like on a moving photographic film includes a light source comprising a plurality of LED units each of which has a plurality of LED elements emitting a plurality of different monochromatic lights. Light guide members are provided, as many as the plurality of LED units, for directing light from the plurality of LED units toward the moving photographic film. There is a driving circuit for driving the plurality of LED units independently from one another so as to form and thereby to print the mark on the moving photographic film.
